Good morning Possums,

I thought I'd give you a well earned rest from starting the thread N9eav. :D It's hot as hell here today and another storm is brewing atm. Been catching up with housework today and done a bit of baking. My banana cake is a bit sunken  but I'm sure it taste's delicious. :D I blame the humidity.

Our neighbours left today. ;) DD is going to Melbourne tomorrow with her work tomorrow so we are home alone until Saturday. :T She's staying at friends tonight and Friday as she needs to get to the airport early. Well I better finish off as I'm always worried someones busy typing the first post and we end up having two. Will pop back later. Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Hi AUSSIELASS and all who follow.

When I called back in briefly last night, I could not believe how many kind thoughts and wishes had been sent to me and DH. Many many thanks to you all. You'll have no idea how much they have helped. (((HUGS))):grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: to you all. Arrangements are still being made for MIL's funeral - being all the way over in Cyprus, there has been a lot of emailing, texting and phoning going on, as you can imagine. One of DH's brothers stayed over last night and a lot of talking was done over a bottle of wine - I know that has helped a lot.

Well, I don't know about the rest of you but I keep expecting the forums to go down again. Just shows, you can never take anything for granted, can you? I hope it doesn't happen again - not just for our sakes, but also for Martin and the rest of the team who spent a long weekend putting it all back together for us.

Today, I plan to spend a morning on paperwork, the afternoon on some ironing (yippee!) and the evening knitting. We're having salmon salad for dinner so that will be easy. I must also buy a couple of bag of sweets for any trick-or-treaters who call on us tonight.

Well, need a cuppa and a shower so, see you all later. Have a good day and a great Halloween! (((hugs))) to all in need.

  • Good morning you two, and to everyone who follows. It's warm here, too. I went to visit clients yesterday, and my 20 min walk at lunch time was done in shirt sleeves.

Back at w*** today, but then that's me for the week. After last week's holiday, I still have a lot of correspondence to catch up on.

Pasta with prawn and cream sauce for tea.

Have a great day, Penny. x

    Morning everyone
    Hope everyone is well
the dog has to go to the vet's today for his booster's so he will sulk as soon as he realises where we are going and be in a moody with me all day
the parents evening at dd's school went well from the way the teacher was gushing over her I get the feeling she could do no wrong
the college are impressed with ds1 good hard worker well mannered and behaved so was pleased with them
not sure whats for dinner today but no-one will go hungry
will need to put my poster saying no trick or treat tonight as I'm afraid I don't agree with it because as parents we spend our time telling the children not to accept sweets from strangers and then encourage it once a year and I know it can be done where you just go to people you know but apart from my immediate neighbours I don't know the others and when I used to open the door it was either teenagers in just a mask or people I didn't know
sorry for the rant but thats my opinion
best get on as it's bin and reecycling day
    have a good day

    Hi everyone.
Hugs to Moiliere and anyone else who needs one.

Great to have the site back, i can get back into my coffee with mse in a morning routine!!

Lots has happened over the weekend, the main on being my Dh was approached by someone he used to work with about a new job, to cut along story short, he hands his notice in today and starts at the new place a week monday! Better hours, location and pay!! So really pleased about that.

Tonight dd is off to a Halloween party dressed as a pumkin! Only 4.30-6pm, which for a 4yr old i think is about right.
All 3 boys have asked to go treat or treating, i have never let them go before and normally throw a party so they dont want to, i agree with Mrs Mix on this one, but the boys are going on and on and on about it, so i may just let them do the locals that i know and go with them, if i cant talk them out of it.
I need to get something for any callers we have although i lock the gate at 8pm, as all the little kids shouldnt be out after this time !!
    Right catch you all later

Yes I agree on the T&T too. We used to get together and hold a party for the kids, and then just let them trick and treat at our own homes + any neighbours known to the kids and with a pre-agreement that they wanted the kids too. We all walked round with the kids too and stood at the top of the drives. They had to recite a rhyme, tell a joke or do something to earn the treat.

    morning all,

Bright and breezy again here today, looks cold out the window, still off to work today so don't mind.

DD is off to her nans tonight, Mrs Mix I agree with you, my no trick or treat poster has been up for a couple of days, lets people know in plenty of time, I just don't agree with children knocking on doors and asking for sweets, who's door are they knocking on ? , also I lived on my own for years and was frightened to open the door to someone wearing a mask, its straight out of a horror film

HM minced beef and onion pie for tea, with lots of veg. No washing to do, but will have a quick swipe and put rubbish out before work.

    Hugs to all

    Thinking of you the mioliere's

    Morning

How great to be able to get on here again and catch up on what everyone is doing.

More hugs to Moliere at this difficult time :grouphug:

Aussielass, don't suppose you could send some of that heat over here could you, at least it's not raining - yet

Carved a pumpkin yesterday, didn't know where to start, but checked out videojug and it told me on there - OH is very impressed :D Got my treats ready for later, it's not too bad round here, they all seem to be small children accompanied by their parents. We have a large skeleton for on the door which we brought back from holiday, OH wanted a motion sensitive ghost, but I wouldn't let him as it would scare the little ones

Hope everyone has a good day x

    Morning All

Lots of going on in the Essex house today, OH looks like he has another kidney stone - passed out yesterday. Need to drop a sample off at docs this morning and pick up some more pain killers for him. As a result last night had to do a lot of running around and the house is a tip.

So have had a shower, just about to make lunches and start tidying the kitchen, need to hoover all round and clean bathrooms. Also have got to go to another village to pay some money into the bank. Will pick up some bits and pieces from Asda while I am there.

Tonight have sister and her kids over for tea before we go trick or treating. We are lucky we live in a village with lots of young families, the rule is if the house is decorated or has a pumpkin then you can knock, as its a small village everyone knows everyone else. This place goes for it in a big way and some of the houses are decorated beautifully. This will be my sisters family's first time as they lived in a big town before and couldnt go.

Also remembered DD's friend is coming over tonight. We are going to have chilli, jacket spuds, sausages, coleslaw and salad tonight. Hot chocolate and cream for when everyone comes back in freezing cold.

Basically no time to sit down today and loads of coffee will be needed.

    Best get on.
    Have a good one.

Edited to say - sorry thanks button stopped working for me!
