Morning all. Hope you're all ok today in this heat.
Valli - well done on that comment.
I don't think I've properly stopped for days but can't think what I've achieved. Have just had my nails/hair/lashes done ready for wedding. Must do ironing now.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
The early fit of enthusiasm for anything wore off pretty quickly. As per the listy, I did manage to s&s the bathrooms, and made a half hearted attempt at the kitchen. The bbq has been cleaned up from Sunday night, which everybody hates doing, so I feel quite virtuous.
I have also been trying to sort out a holiday. For the past 8 years we have gone to stay at a friend's house in France for a week, but this year, DH and DD wanted to do something else. The compromise was that we went to France for a few days at Easter to keep me happy, and then we would do a short city break in the summer, which is what they want to do. We have obviously been spoilt by driving over in our own car, getting the ferry, and staying at very reasonable cost, as I am completely bowled over by the cost of flights and accommodation. I foresee a lot more scrimping in the coming months. DH wants to treat us all :A as it's been another tough couple of years family wise, so I should just be grateful and worry quietly...I am, and I will.0 -
Dizzy, are you still trying to do too much? I worry about your tumbles and injuries. How do kids manage to do so much damage so quickly?
Jojo, I'm sure you already know this but you might need reminding. If your Fit Note specifically mentioned not doing certain things, you are not insured if you sustain any injury. I know it's hard, but you absolutely MUST stop doing things just becasue the school wants you to - mainly because you are damaging yourself. If you dug your heels in and it still had to be done, they would find a work-around. As long as you keep doing what needs doing, they don't have to so they won't. It's called 'contributory negligence' and they can wash their hands of any liability. Please stop being so nice to all of the people who take advantage of you.
Valli, that's absolutely lovely. Well done to everyone involved who makes it feel such a great plaece for little people.
The chalet sale is still generating phone calls but it looks as though we may not have to manage the three lets that we insisted were honoured if completion took place before them. Hurrah! All of my lovely space in the house on shelves and in cupboards is now occupied by ex-chalet gibble but I can live with it for a few months and then I'm going to smuggle all the crap out of the house while OH is busy elsewhere. I'm tired of sorting gibble and clutter and it's all replaceable if we should ever need it; he's just a 1947 baby who was brought up on rationing when nothing was available. Understandable, but the war ended 70 years ago.
I'm clearing paperwork again and when it's a bit cooler I'm going to go and mulch the pear and apple trees after giving them some TLC with bonemeal, leaf mold and chicken pooh. And then some serious watering.Better is good enough.0 -
Was all out of enthusiasm but had the call to say the landlord for the house we really liked has accepted the application! Going to do a launder and get packing - looks like we might be moving much sooner than expected (6th/7th)!0

Evening all. Just sat down after another non-stop day. Electrician seen and works discussed. Just waiting for his price now...gulp...
Took my van into the body repair shop recommended by my insurers. Quick estimate of £5K worth of damage. Nearly fell off my perch and very, VERY glad the insurance is coughing up.
Good news over the rental OMG - hope you're very happy in your new home x
My godmother is visiting tomorrow for a few hours, so I doubt much flying will be achieved. At least I won't be falling over anything Honey Bear!

All Very Important People were out being Very Important today, as they will be tomorrow.
Far more productive (and absolutely zero physical effort put into the day) today.
Could be quite busy tomorrow due to a Special Event, but definitely more of a point and signal kind of day - although it took me ten minutes to travel five whole yards today because I was constantly being stopped and asked for different things.
Slung buckets of water over the windowboxes when I got home and, much to my disgust, both cats, who have apparently been melting all day, insisted upon sitting on my feet/against my leg for over an hour - on the hottest day of the year so far. On a furry blanket. On me.
Idiot animals.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
