Why isnt my car selling??

I've also had a car on Auto-Trader over the last week.
It's a 2004 Volvo with 258k miles on it, but it's priced accordingly, with an honest description with the negatives described also. It's helped by having loads of history as i've owned it a long time and have fixed everything along the way.
It sold to the first person to call about it.
To the OP, take note of the suggestions here, or take the hit and sell to we-buy-any-car.0 -
Just get the MOT sorted. If you want £8k for it get the damage fixed too, otherwise accept in its present state you'd do well to get much more than £6k. As previous comments, I'd never consider a 2nd hand car without a full MOT.
I also hate all adverts (not yours) from trade that say 12 months MOT will be offered after sale. That just reads that they'll take your money, fudge an MOT with advisories as long as your arm, buts its tough now as you own the car.0 -
Those photos are significantly more 'flattering', but even then, those interior shots look horrible. Maybe the interiors are horrible? I've sat in plenty of Nissan's though and I thought the interiors were fine. Maybe it's just the Qashqai?
It was kind of just an example of better cars available for less?
I wasnt holding it up to scrutiny as the optimum perfect Qashqai out there.0 -
I cant help but see you're all criticizing the car for damage and short MOT. Both are minor issues. An MOT will cost £50 and I know there will be no advisories. Its not a brand new car so expecting it to look pristine is frankly absurd.
As stated by so many of you, I am a private seller, so I'm not prepared to put more money into the car. I'm selling it for a reasonable price. For some reason you're all incredibly suspicious of the car but the truth is, its a great car. If you think its overpriced, that's your opinion. I'll respectfully disagree with you.
I'm not a garage, therefore pictures wont be amazing, the body of the car wont be amazing. The car itself is. As a private seller, I am prepared to negotiate and for you to determine what I will or will not come down to is your own idea. So 'knowing' I wont reduce the price is just arrogant.
For the price, it is a good car. For those of you cant see that, that's fine by me. For those that can, they'll be getting a good deal.
FYI, I have had a lot of interest in the car now. I've got a buyer who's coming Friday and taking it for £7,500.
Thanks for all your advice (which I would like to point out, is just advice, if I choose to ignore it, I can).
You asked for advice, and you got a pretty much unanimous view that it was too expensive, the wording with regards to the damage was off putting, the damage was off putting and the short MOT was off putting
No one was suspicious of the car?
IF you get your £7,500 on Friday then great. I'm sure you'll take the advert down as soon as it sells so we all know its sold and I'm also sure you will let us know if you were negotiated downwards on the price on the day (as i suspect you will be)0 -

The thread was ...why is my car not selling, it is fair to say, what you believe and prospective buyers believe are very different.0 -

I've absolutely no doubt that the buyer will offer a premium over the requested £7,500...0 -

And be so glad to be able to buy a car that is so well priced and resounding value and not be at all concerned about the damage or short MOT.0 -
