Just for information in case it's useful. My DD bought a full PPE kit so she could visit my DGS on his birthday and give him a hug. I can ask where she got it from if it's of use to visit your mum.
Thanks Sayschezza. Unfortunately there are still 5 mile radius travel restrictions here and it's nearly a 4 hour trip to my family with an overnight stay needed, so the PPE is not really the issue, but thank you for thinking of me. xx

Just sending you a pile of love and hugs MeandO - it must be hard at the moment. You're still recovering from illness, you're on your own and you can't see family. On top of that they've disrupted your working arrangements and something you'd set your heart on has gone. Of course you're feeling rubbish. I really hope that you can get to do something for yourself soon that will help you to feel better.
  • Hi @MeandO, I've only just come across your diary and haven't read it all yet but just wanted to send you a virtual hug, even though you don't know me whatsoever! I hate seeing people sad and it looks like you're having a tough time :( Are there any organisations in your area that can put you in touch with other people? Or maybe start something off yourself? I'm sure there are lots of people around you in a similar position. It's a lonely old time for so many, even those with family around them. Keep your chin up xx

Thank you all for the virtual cheerleading, it's much appreciated.
Thanks for dropping by and for the suggestions too EssexOstrich, virtual hug gladly received. x

Reading the forums, tiredness seems to be the ongoing theme for lots of people at the moment and I'm at that 'swimming through treacle' phase today. I'm almost at the level of tiredness I remember when DS was a newborn and not sleeping, it is becoming difficult to function for a whole day. I'm sure being overweight and unfit is not helping at all and I have been trying to eat well for the past few days and took DS and I on a longer walk yesterday to burn some calories and have a change of scenery. There are still restrictions as to how far from home we can travel here so we can't go too far. I might see if we can venture to a local outdoor parkland later today though.

The CB has been paid today, thank goodness, and the CTC should be in the bank on Wednesday.  I've devised a little budget from these to pay back a chunk to the gifts pot and car maintenance pot as both have been used this past month and are somewhat depleted. I'm finding it difficult to build them up at the moment. I have also budgeted to pay £110 ish off the mortgage to round it down to £99K exactly. That will feel like a small win for me and make me feel like I've achieved something this month.

I've had to spend £12.50 on a new toaster this week as ours was tripping the circuit in the kitchen every time it was switched on. OH kindly picked it up and delivered it to me to save the delivery fee.

I've also just received a refund for a school trip DS was meant to go on, but had to be cancelled due to CV. That will be £76.50 which I'll split between the savings pots when the cheque has cleared, probably £50 to the EF, £25 to the premium bonds and the odd £1.50 can go in the grocery pot. The £25 DD has gone to the EF today too so I'll update the savings totals shortly.

I'm still feeling quite flat and blue at the moment, but I know the tiredness and feeling rubbish about myself is definitely not helping. There has also been a death in the family this week, one of my Mum's siblings, so my poor Mum is feeling really sad and anxious as well as being in agony with her condition which is getting worse. :(  It's so hard not being able to give her a hug or be there to help.
DS has wanted my attention what seems like every 30 seconds since he came back from his Dad's too this week which is lovely that he wants to be around me, but is a bit like having a toddler again in that I can't seem to get anything done or even pee in peace presently! I think the lockdown boredom has finally caught up with him so I'll try and think of some new things we can do for the next few days. I must admit, I am running out of steam though so any ideas would be appreciated.

It is vaguely sunny here today so I am trying to get all the washing done and line dried. The second load is in the machine, hopefully no need for the tumble dryer or airer today.

That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy

Unfortunately today brought more difficult times - my lovely Mum collapsed and was hospitalised. My Dad obviously couldn’t go to the hospital with her due to the restrictions, so it turns out he drove his car to the hospital and just sat in the car park so he was close to her. It breaks my heart.  My parents are the kindest, most loving and selfless people you could ever hope to meet, they have spent their whole life working hard and caring and looking after others, they don’t deserve this awful life they have been enduring for years now. It is no life.
Meanwhile, I’m hundreds of miles away and unable to do anything to help either of them. I feel so sad about everything tonight.
