I've also registered to give a Christmas gift to a local child who would otherwise have nothing this Christmas. It's a very well run scheme here which has been running for many years. We have been allocated a 16 year old boy, so I will get DS involved and we will go out and buy some gifts to fill a gift bag for him.
It breaks my heart to think that some kids may not receive anything for Christmas. I'm weling up now just thinking about it. If I'm able to, we'll apply to buy for a second child too, we'll just see how the £'s stretch this month first.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Last week DS sorted out some of his games and DVDs he no longer wants. I've just sold the two games for £15, so have transferred it straight to DS's ISA. He doesn't need any further spending money for anything at the moment as Christmas is just around the corner, it's best stashed in his ISA for use when he's older. The DVD's have gone in the charity bag, along with some clothes and bits that aren't really worth selling. I have two black bag fulls now, so will drop that to the charity shop as soon as i can.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Monday already, but it's a lovely sunny day here with blue skies. I've got a load of washing on the line to dry and another load will be joining it very shortly. I've hoovered all through the house and have cleaned the hard floors downstairs, just waiting for those to dry and I'll do the bathrooms upstairs too whilst I'm in the mood. It doesn't happen often, so I'm making the most of it.
I had a nice weekend - we spent lots of time walking in nature reserves, woodland and watching DS play for his sports club yesterday. It's lovely that the rain seems to have stopped for sometime here now, although I realise others are less fortunate and have awful flooding to contend with.
I bought a couple more Christmas gifts at the weekend but still have quite a bit to do. Am not loving it, it feels like a chore this year.
I made a big pan of soup yesterday and an upside down cake, using some storecupboard and fridge stuff up that was going over. The soup will feed OH and I tonight and probably for lunches for the next few days. DS won't eat soup, but I have plenty of food in for him too so there's no need to buy much this week other than a few top up bits.
The £25 from tesco hasn't turned up yet. I'm waiting for it impatiently as I want to pay another little bit off the mortgage asap.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

My cleaning mood disappeared after my last post so I didn’t get round to doing the bathroom floors. I did wrap some Christmas gifts that need to travel, though.
The washing didn’t dry outside, guess I was being a bit optimistic, so it has been finished in the tumble dryer and a few bits on the airer.
I picked up loo rolls, crisps and a couple of other grocery bits from home bargains before the school run, all much cheaper there than in a supermarket.
DS has come home with raffle tickets (£5 ) and requests for donations for an event at school all needed before the end of the week. I could have done without that this week tbh, money is really tight, but I’ll find it.
We sorted a bag of toys tonight to pass on to a family friend’s grandson. I’m sure he’ll be pleased with them. There are also 3 black bags for the charity shop now too. I’m not going to have time to drop them this week, so that will have to be next week now.
I’ve had my car insurance renewal through and a quick comparison show that I can get it around £30 cheaper than the renewal price, so if my current provider can match it great, if not, I’ll be switching. Thankfully the money in the car pot will cover the insurance leaving around £100 in the pot to start building it up again.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

The £25 from Tesco has hit the account so I've paid it off the mortgage.
I've also paid the credit card off with savings, so that's now at 0 again, although the savings are a little lower than they were.
Quite stressful times at the moment. I can't go into detail, but really hope it's sorted soon, for everyone's sake.

I'm not feeling like posting much at the moment, but want to keep the financials up to date, so, it's pay day today and money has been shifted to various pots.
I've squeezed £45 out of the budget as a mortgage overpayment and the £50 Standing order has gone to the Help to save account.
