Plum crumble is a tasty warming pudding... I think I have a recipe for a plum cake in an upside down sort of style, if you want it.
Glad that the developers are finally sorting out the bathroom. Let's hope they get on with the flooring quickly as well.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Lots of love as always MeandO - it's really demotivating living like that sometimes, but I agree that you should try and find the money for shoes and a coat. You deserve it, and you work so hard to keep everything together. Not giving up

Thank you for the love and cheerleading all, it’s much appreciated.
HSL2, thanks you for your kind offer of recipes. The fruits are actually pears but you’ve given me the idea of upside down pear cake so I may try that sometime this week.
The bathroom saga goes on. Basically the previous work done has been written off as ‘the worst job ever seen’ by the chief guy, and we have apparently been living with a dangerous bathroom with bits not attached and unstable walls for the past 6 months. They are back again tomorrow to hopefully finish everything except for the flooring which will be laid next week with any luck. I’ve obviously shortened this write up of events considerably, I really can’t go on thinking about it any more. The stress of everything is making me ill and this is just another thing I don’t need at the moment. Needless to say, after seeing what work was initially done when the house was built, I lie in bed at night wondering what else is dangerous, about to fail, or won’t last in this house. Same scenario of worry as the old house. I really can’t believe it. I don’t know why these things keep happening to me.
After your lovely replies last night I looked online for some shoes and a raincoat. I went straight to eBay but didn’t buy anything. Well, I found something that I bought today - two new tops from the joules shop for my lovely Mum for her birthday or Christmas. That’s been paid for with funds from the gift fund.
An email today at work and worrying talk reminded me of how fragile my job security is, so the coat and shoes will have to wait. It doesn’t sit well with me to spend that money at the moment.
After work today I listed an item on FB that has been in my garage since I moved and doesn’t fit in this house. I probably underpriced it as it created a bit of a buyer frenzy, but at least it’s a space made and £10 in my pocket. There’s now £30 in my wallet which I plan on paying into the bank and topping up a savings pot as soon as I can get to the bank.
I’ve had my urgent referral appointment. It’s Monday. My anxiety has gone through the roof and I’ve spent the day thinking the worst. I’m not concerned for myself, it’s the impact on DS if I’m not well, or worse. We have no family around here and DS only has the ex here whose attitude and awareness is not the best on a good day.
I’m really scared.I know i’m being daft thinking like this, but I can’t help it.
Hopefully I’ll sleep better tonight. I’ve found the tiredness overwhelming today (and of course, in my head, i’ve put that down to a symptom of some illness). I’m going to try a sleepy tea and an early night tonight. XMortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

I think it's only natural to be feeling like that in your position. You're shouldering everything by yourself and you've had so much on your plate too.
Hopefully you'll manage a good night's sleep!
I think you're coping extraordinarily well considering how much life has been throwing at you!
Really hope the bathroom remains the "only" issue with the house.0 -
Hope you are able to get a good night's sleep. Stress and worry can make one feel tired, which is totally understandable with all the house issues you're having to bear. I hope the chief guy at least apologised and was able to offer some sort of reassurance about the house. Does it have a NHBC type guarantee? Almost tempting to ask to see the building checks. A council building inspector must have checked the build at various stages. How did unstable walls get passed?paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Thanks for posting Moguline & HSL2. I'm working from home today as the guy is back here working upstairs. The plumber should have been here an hour ago but, surprise surprise, hasn't turned up. Guy no.1 is on the ball and is doing a good job, so I'll let him chase them. He is also chasing the company about other outstanding issues I have with the house.
It does have an NHBC equivalent HSL2, but these things are not really worth the paper they're written on and won't get involved at such a small scale (to them) matter. I think the house has to fall down before they step in.
This weather is just crazy. It's been bright sunshine to pouring rain about 10 times already since 9am. I've put the washing out and picked it in more times than I care to remember this morning so have now given up and it's in the dryer / on the airer.
It's payday today and I've just allocated everything in there on YNAB. I haven't been able to top up the emergency fund pot, but both the christmas and the car maintenance fund have had £100 deposited. £65 has been repaid to the yearly maintenance fee savings after I borrowed from it to pay for the table, plus this month's amount of £13 added to it (£78 in total).
The monthly £50 DD has gone to the help 2 save account too, so there's £900 in there now.
When the tax credits & CB get paid in a couple of weeks, they will need to top up the diesel, groceries & general spends pots. Hopefully I will be able to spare some for the EF and a small mortgage OP too. The 'holidays' pot still remains empty and will probably never receive any pennies. I feel quite sorry for it!
I've just sent £19.60 to the mortgage to round it down and make myself feel better.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Thank you HSL2. You're right, it's been quietly building up nicely. £50 a month doesn't seem like much but it's surprising how quickly it builds up to a nice amount.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

I hadn't even heard of H2S! I think when I go back to work after mat leave we'll qualify for universal credit because of the high childcare costs we'll have, so I'll have a look into this then!0

With the raincoat I have just ordered one from sports dIrect, the postage can be steep, but I added in a coat for the boy, and two pairs of trainers for me and get it delivered to my local @sda so I can pick it up when I am free. Raincoats were both £15 for a decent brand. Yes mine is in a colour I perhaps wouldn't have chosen, but it's not ridiculous, so I don't care.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0
