Hope that the bathroom is all sorted now and it hasn't been too big of a job. It's the same thing as what I need to do in my bathroom since the leak under the bath. It's patched and repaired but I need to save for a full bathroom makeover before too long
Lots of loveNot giving up

Thanks all, unfortunately the bathroom is still non-functioning and a no-go area. I have no idea when they plan on finishing it as the plumber didn’t turn up on Friday and the other guy working on mentioned he’d be out today but he was a no show too. I’ll be on the phone to them again Monday morning.
I had a couple of hours to myself this morning as DS wasn’t returned to me until 9am and I woke up around 6am. I lay in bed for half an hour but got up, showered, dried my hair and made myself a cuppa. It was a beautiful morning and the sky was stunning so I pottered in the garden for a while. A few cups of tea and a bowl of porridge later and DS came home. :happyhear
I am worried about him. He is so tired all the time at the moment and has not wanted to do much all day. Sleeping arrangements at his dad’s are not ideal at the moment (long story), so I don’t know if it’s because he’s not sleeping well there or if it’s something else. I am worried though.
Talking of worry, I seem to have a lump.A painful lump in my side between the top of my hip and the bottom of my ribs.. OH thinks it could be a hernia, I have no idea, but I guess i’ll have to make a dr’s appointment this week.
The Swedish furniture co. delivered two chests of drawers and 3 shelves for DS’s room and a shelving/storage unit for the landing cupboard this morning. I’ve put the shelving unit up in the cupboard and now have much more room to store stuff. I can start work on finally unpacking the last two moving boxes now and sorting out the small spare room so we can actually use it.
I also put DS’s new shelves up and DS has filled them already! He enjoyed arranging and displaying things and is pleased with them.I have told him I’ll decorate his bedroom soon as it’s still all new build white. He’s not really fussed, it is more me that wants to get it decorated for him, he is quite happy to leave it white but it needs doing already with the settlement and shrinkage cracks and cr&p standard of paint finish through this whole house.:(
My parents very kindly sent me a £50 Tesco card this week and some collectible card things for DS. It was a bit of a shock tbh, it’s such a lot of money. They’re so kind. Thanks to this, I have taken £50 out of the grocery budget and transferred it to the Christmas savings pot instead. We have used £23 of the card today and £10 I had on another on a big shop. Neither of us felt like going shopping but I’d completely run out of milk and it seems you can’t use Tesco gift cards for online grocery delivery so I bit the bullet and DS and I went after tea. I managed to get some YS bread and turkey mince which were both on my list anyway so nice to pay less than I would have done for them.

That is so annoying that the builders didn't show up, especially if you've waited in for them all day.
How are you managing without a bathroom?
Fingers crossed your lump turns out to be nothing serious.
And hope your DS can catch up on some sleep. Hopefully it's just the start of the new school year etc - my son has been knackered too!0 -
Today is the second day I've spent up to half an hour on the phone in a queue before 9.15am, trying to get a doctor's appointment, only to be told there are no appointments left and I'm not able to book one for another day. The receptionist told me I should have come down to the surgery at 8am to request an appointment instead, I asked her if she would take my child to school then as I obviously wouldn't be able to if I had to drice in the opposite direction to get to the surgery and queue from 8am. This system is just shocking. I will admit, I put the phone down and burst into tears. Why is everything so bloody difficult?
I chased so called 'customer care' about the bathroom again yesterday. They failed to return my call. I will have to chase them again today as we still are no further forward.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Oh no how rubbish - are there any other GPs you can switch to maybe?
Mine have open access every day from 9-10 which is really useful. Is there a walk in centre near you you could go to instead?
Is there an alternative contractor you could use for the bathroom instead? They sound very unprofessional!0 -
Unfortunately not Moguline. The doctor’s is the only one we’re in area for and as for the contractors, it’s persimmon themselves doing this as the problem was their fault to start with. They hadn't Plumbed the toilet in correctly when they built the house so it has been leaking for 6 months.
I’ve chased them again today as no-one showed up yet again. I’ve had an absolute guts full of them.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Oh no what a nightmare!
I'm sorry you have to deal with all of this, sending you virtual hugs!0 -
How frustrating to not be able to get an appointment at 9.00 in the morning. Does this system mean that people arriving at the surgery are prioritised over phone appointments?paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

After losing my **** with the developer on Thursday and threatening legal action, there is a plumber here reinstalling the bathroom as I type, although he was half an hour late and I had to chase the developer again. Apparently, someone else is coming this afternoon to finish the redecoration, but I very much doubt the flooring will be re-instated at the same time, so that will probably drag on for another few weeks.:(
I finally managed to get a dr's appointment and they've referred me for an urgent further investigation. I actually received the appointment today for next Monday. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious.
We've been to my parents for the weekend which was lovely but upsetting at the same time.Neither of us wanted to return home again.
I bought a new kitchen table last week - something more practical as the other one was proving impractical in our new kitchen space.
The new one cost me £124 which I funded from a couple of other savings pots so I need to build those back up again asap. I sold the old one to a little bistro for £50. I was quite pleased as I originally bought the table from a junk shop for £10 and had sanded and painted it myself, so was glad that someone else loved it as much as I did.
The bank account is dire until payday on Wednesday with only around £10 left in it. Everything is paid for though so I've just donated £5 towards an appeal to help towards treatment to save a little boy who needs a life saving procedure. He has the same name as DS and I just couldn't imagine ever having to try and raise money to save my child. It must be horrific, there's just no words.
My parents, again, kindly sent us back with some goodies and gave me £20 petrol money. They are so kind and so selfless. They also passed on loads of under-ripe at the moment pears they had been given by a neighbour. They are all wrapped in newspaper, hopefully on their way to ripening, but I'm wondering what else I can do with them as DS won't eat them. Perhaps bake with them?
I have also spent quite a bit from the gift fund on a trip to an attraction that DS really wants to go to. His Dad has been promising to take him since before the summer but has let him down leaving DS really disappointed, so I have bought tickets and accommodation for us for two nights for DS for Christmas. It was all paid for with the money in the gift account, but has left just over £100 in there so I seriously need to build that up again too.
I'm getting worried about how to pay for things. Christmas mainly. Although if the MOT later this year flags up anything on the car, there's not a huge amount to cover that either.I save money into pots every month but being solely responsible to pay for everything, there never seems to be enough to cover the extras.
I am in dire need of some work shoes and a pair of casual shoes as my £6 pair of work shoes have more or less given up after two years(!), but I just can't justify spending money on myself that needs to go elsewhere. Same with a waterproof coat. I know I'm lucky compared to so very many, but living like this sometimes does get me down. I'm feeling a bitabout it all at the moment. Sorry for the moans.
I have considered getting a 0% credit card to cover Christmas, but I think that's probably a slippery slope. Although my mindset has changed so much over the years and I now absolutely hate having any debt so know I will pay it off as quickly as I can. The trouble is, that money will then have to be diverted from savings which I don't want to do. I feel like I'm juggling with too many financial balls at the moment.
DS was at his Dad's last night, I can't wait to get him back and give him a big cuddle. It's been less than 24 hours but I've missed him so.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Good that things are finally moving on the bathroom front! Hope they sort it out properly for you!
Fingers crossed on the doc's appointment too, hope it is indeed nothing serious!
For Christmas - try not to stress yourself too much. I don't think there's any need to get a credit card for it as you could always dip into your EF if you really need to. I know it's not technically an emergency, but you have some decent savings there and would quickly build them back up I'm sure.
Try to be kind to yourself - allowing yourself some new workshoes and a waterproof coat, for example will surely make you feel better. I know I always feel terrible when I feel like I'm not reasonably well put together.
Sending you hugs!0
