    Hello everyone,

I haven't posted lately, but have been around and do so appreciate everyone's lovely replies. Thank you all.

Chrystal, your post below gave me such comfort and hope. I do hope this is a blessing in disguise.

I have been busy firefighting the issues that seem to be arising in the house. :(
I have managed to complete the last bit of decorating that needed doing for under £30 as well as using up leftover paint and materials found in OH's shed to touch up a few areas. It's looking lovely which makes me even more sad that we won't be staying, but I have to look forward now.

The news is, I have had a good part exchange offer against a new build. They offered £5K less than I was hoping to achieve through a normal sale, but as I don't pay estate agent fees on that, it is a fair price. I have accepted, but won't relax a little until the survey they do on my current house is signed off as OK. I have absolutely everything crossed. I have managed to barter for £6k off the price of the new house too, but they would not budge on including flooring or any extras, so I will have to budget for the flooring too.
It is at the absolute top of my budget, so I will be mortgaged up to the max and will have to work on trying to overpay as much as I can to lower it. It will be tight, but manageable and I don't have a lot of choice now.

It will mean moving about 5 miles away and out of the local vicinity I love now, but it will be commutable both to school and work and is my best option presently. A plus point is that the potential new area does have lovely views. :)

I have to pay a reservation fee this week, which thankfully I can cover with savings. I will lose £100 if the builders pull out of buying my house so in the grand scheme of things it's not too bad. I just want the next couple of months to fly by now and bring good things with them. Asking a lot I know, but I do hope, as Chrystal said, that this is the Universe's way of helping me along a little.

Fantastic news hun!!!! A new build will mean that you have the 10 year guarantee aswell which is a relief! I’m keeping everything crossed that it all goes smoothly. I bought a new build last year and it’s so nice that everything is new and low maintenance :)

Thank you lovely. Yes, I've always had new builds prior to this last house, think I should've stuck to what I knew... :(

I'm just praying it all goes through smoothly now though...

Have you any idea when they are doing the survey?
I'm keeping everything crossed that all will be well. Keep thinking positive thoughts! ((hugs)) XX

Thank you HSL2 and Chrystal, positive thoughts are so much appreciated right now.

Chrystal - no, they haven’t said, but when I tentatively mentioned a date for their survey yesterday the salesperson seemed confused and didn’t seem to know why one would be needed. I’m hoping they don’t bother!

I parted with £300 yesterday, £200 of which is refundable if it falls through. I now need to find an electrician and gas registered guy to do a gas and electricity safety check on my place. I don’t foresee any problems with that as I have had it all done in the past when I moved in. It’s a shame they won’t take that certificate from 18 months ago and I now have to pay for new ones, but never mind.

I have real mixed feelings about the new place. I am relieved that I was offered a part ex and it’s all going though so far, but the new house is so expensive for what it is, is absolutely not worth the money and, whilst it is a nice house, I don’t love it and wouldn’t be buying it under normal circumstances. I’m so sad about leaving our home that we both love and local area where I can walk to our little town and school and OH’s house. We will be a drive away from everything in the new place. It’s only an 8 minute drive from here - DS timed it yesterday ;) - but it may as well be 80 miles away for how I feel about it all. I have to remember though that I don’t really have a choice. I have to get out of this house fast before things get worse, and more and more issues are coming up, and this is the quickest way, I hope. It is all just so sad and such a shame. I am trying to keep positive about it, I really am, but it’s not proving easy.

Pay day has come and gone and the savings lots are looking healthy presently. I have added a little extra to the ‘gifts’ pot with Christmas coming up. I have also managed to buy 3 big Christmas gifts this week for a really good price, much less than I expected to pay and with the bonus of a discount code.

Next month I have the MOT and house insurance to cover, followed by the car insurance in December, so I’ve been ensuring that pot is topped up as much as possible.

I have had to spend some money from what was the house repairs pot and is now the house move pot. :( I paid the reservation fee on the new place from it and also need to cover the gas and electric safety certifications from it. I am still saving money to it as and when I can though.

DS has an inset day today and I am home with him this afternoon. He is happy to chill out today though so doesn’t what to do much which means I am tackling washing mountain and enjoying a cuppa and cuddle from DS. :)

Last night OH and I popped to the supermarket to see if we could find any YS’s. There wasn’t much there, but I did get two loaves of fresh bakery bread for 10p a loaf. I’ve sliced and frozen this for use later.
We also cooked a chicken, some of which we had last night and sthe rest we’ll use up in a risotto tonight. There may even be enough left for a third day’s meal. :)

I am feeling a bit anxious and irritated at the moment. I am chasing at least 4 or 5 different people and companies to do things that they promised to do but have yet to materialise. It’s so frustrating. I wish people would just do what they are supposed to do!

  • Hey
Good to hear from you - pleased that things are in progress (although not as fast as you would have hoped). It's good when you have a plan and you know where things are going.

I’ve just been through all of the clothes that are too small for me that I was keeping for ‘when I could get back in them :o:o:’, but have put most of them in a bag for the charity shop and a few to list on eBay.
I’ve also sorted a few things of DS that are too small and already have a black bag full of charity stuff between us which will be one less bag to move.

A member of OH’s family has suggested we only buy for the children this Christmas which is a good idea. I had already bought Christmas gifts for two adults, but will give these to someone else instead.

DS and I madecroissants earlier and tucked into one each. They were delicious! Probably suggests why I can’t fit into the above clothes... :o

My tumble dryer broke yesterday which, after a not-so-nice day and on top of everything else, made me more down than it normally would have done. Thankfully, after a bit of phone advice from my Dad and OH changing the plug for me, it is working again. :) I fully expected to be paying out for a new one today.

I bought some fuses and a few light fittings which I need to replace in the house before it’s sold. I will be taking three of my current ones with me and so need to replace with simple pendants and some cheap shades for now. OH is going to help me do so tomorrow. The pendants and fuses cost me just over £10 today, so no great expense.

I did a big shop last night, spending around £40, but a lot of this was on ys bargains that I have portioned and frozen. There was also a £6 ‘Chinese meal kit’ included in that as a treat for OH and I. We were both feeling really down and couldn’t be bothered to cook. It worked out cheaper than a takeaway or going to the local pub.
