I won’t lie, I’m struggling today. I can usually find something to laugh about in any situation and am really trying to be positive about everything, but i’m really scared now. I really don’t know what’s happening to this house but there are now likely to be other issues which are potentially dangerous. The very thought that I could be putting DS at risk, even unintentionally, is just making me sick. Work now on the original issue may have to stop and this is likely to need looking at first.
I have the surveyor coming out again tomorrow and i’m just praying that it’s not as bad as it seems.
I finally dropped the box of books and dvds off to the collect plus store to go onwards to Ziffit this afternoon. It will only bring in £12.37 (for 13 items), but it’s better than nothing and is space cleared. It’ll go towards the house repair pot.
DS has meatballs for tea, taken out of the freezer from a big ys pack which I separated and froze a while back.
OH came over with a big pan of lovely soup he’d made for myself and him.
DS’s lunch is packed for tomorrow and he’ll be having some fish from the freezer for tea. I haven’t sorted lunch for myself yet, but will grab something from the cupboard to take to work once the surveyor’s been and gone. I have a lot of peppers in my fridge to use up presently, so will look at some recipes for those and will at least try and use some for tea.
CTC will be paid tomorrow. I should be able to sweep £200 to the pot and THEN it will only be just under £30 to get to £2k - I was getting a bit ahead of myself earlier and counting this £200 already!
It doesn’t leave me with a lot for the next two weeks, but then again I don’t have anything spendy planned, but will just have to keep the groceries to essentials.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

It wasn't good news.
Severe structural issues, likely due to a previous historical bodge job and not enough support to upper floors. I don't really know what else to say, but it's being investigated and a plan will be drawn up. It won't be cheap.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

£192.99 added to the savings from CTC. Seems a bit like a drop in the ocean and all a bit pointless now with the costs likely to rise to ridiculous levels. I have no idea what to do. I'm just numb.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

I have reported the above post as I don't think advertising is allowed on theses forums.
Having said that, you have paid so much off your mortgage is it possible to put the cost of the building work onto your mortgage. After all it's all house stuff. Then you can concentrate on paying that down as and when. It will at least relieve the pressure from your shoulders for now.
What's more shouldn't the building soc surveyor have picked these faults up when you applied for the mortgage in the first place. All that clutter used to be money0 -

^^ Totally agree with this. Can you get some info about it from CAB? It seems that other peoples mistakes are all falling on your shoulders. ((hugs))XI Believe.....

I too had been wondering why this hadn't been picked up on when you bought the house, but I don't really know enough about it to comment. I'm so sorry that it keeps throwing up problems again and again... it's an awful situation for you to be in. May be worth enquiring about a remortgage, just to give you some breathing space.
