    Thank you HSL2 & Mrs_Money_Penny xx

The builders are dealing with the issue today and I have contacted a couple of roofers about the leaking chimney. Hopefully one of them will be able to come and look at it soon as I'm worried every time it rains.

I received £9 back from Shopmium today so have transferred that to the bank account. I was also over the moon to win my first ever prize on the Premium Bonds - £25! Not quite the million pounds I was aiming for, but I will gratefully take it. :) It's been added to that account total. I also overpaid my mortgage by £51.71 today to take it down into the next £1000 bracket. It now sits at £62,999. Gutted that this will likely go up soon when I borrow more, but I have to remind myself it's still better than the £92K I owed before moving house.

I’m really pleased with the work they’ve done on the house today, it’s made quite a difference and looks great. Hopefully we’re on the downward straight with it all now but we just need a week of dry weather. 😖

I’ve paid another £50 off the credit card and two hefty refunds have also brought the balance down considerably today. I’m still waiting on the refund from NEXT 😡 and have had to go through resolver to get anywhere, but they have assured me today that it has been processed, so we shall see. Never will I shop with them again. They sent me a £10 gift card a couple of weeks ago as an apology, but I will use it as part of a Christmas gift instead. I refuse to shop there after the horrendous service I have received from them.
There is around £200 left on the credit card now which I’ll pay off very soon as my 0% deal is ending.

  • I have had a bad experience with Next too. Ended up £4 down due to their mistake not mine. I gave up and have a £35 card, will use that and never shop there again (not a hardship this is the first time I have shopped there in years!) I can't fault their customer service centre they were polite and did sort it, but the whole thing left me annoyed and disheartened.

It's not somewhere I normally shop either Drawingaline, I find it overpriced, but it was an item of furniture that seemed perfect for the intended spot (turned out not to be!). There's no sign of the refund today, but will give them until the end of the week before I chase it again. It's so frustrating!

It is was really cold here overnight and the car needed de-icing before the school run. It's a beautiful sunny day now so I've braved a load of washing on the line rather than using the tumble dryer, hopefully it will go some way to drying outside.

This morning I've listed a large bulky bundle of things on FB, hopefully someone will buy those for £20. I've also listed a couple of things on a freebie site just to get then out of my way. There is no interest on my ebay items so far. I'm finding things that would normally sell are not going at the moment. They will be donated or given away if there's no interest, would have been nice to make a few £'s though. I have a few more things to list on ebay, hopefully they will sell as I could really do with upping my income as much as possible at the moment.

Has anyone else been notified of the YNAB price increase? It's going up by a lot and I don't know if I can justify paying that much for it when my subscription renews in February. I will have to look at free or cheaper alternatives as I use it daily and it has really helped me to manage my money, but it is just such a price increase, even with the 10% legacy discount.

The two free items were collected so that’s a bit more space for me and hopefully they will prove useful to their new owners.

I’m in a bit of a bad mood this evening. I spoke to the next door neighbour about the leaking roof issue as it is between our properties so affects them. To cut a long story short, they’ve known about it for years, as did the previous owners of my house (another problem they hid 😡) and next door just weren’t interested in getting it fixed, so it looks like I’ll be single handedly footing the bill for that one which will mean me having to lend more money. I’m so fed up with it all.

I’m cold today too. I resisted putting the heating on whilst working at home today but it’s been cranked up high now. I’ve even got hot water bottles out ready for our beds tonight. I’m starting to miss my new build house and wonder if it was worth living with the problems it had after all - never thought I’d say it.

DS and I are not getting along as great as usual tonight either. He’s developing his father’s ‘lazy gene’ and trying to get him to listen to anything I say is hard work. He’s a wonderful, well behaved and kind kid and I adore him, but I’m finding this age hard work. It’s like he’s a teenager already.

OH is mid way through a 3 year course he has chosen to do alongside working full time too. I’ve been really supportive of him, but it seems to have taken over his life now and I don’t look forward to weekends as I know he’ll be constantly working on the laptop, getting grumpy and snappy at me because he has so much to do. We can’t book to go anywhere either as he always has loads of work to do. He’s constantly getting texts from his class WhatsApp group, and I mean constantly so is on his phone loads now too, it’s taken over his life.

Guess I’m feeling a bit alone in everything at the moment and just want to moan, sorry.
    🙁

Do some research on paying to fix the roof, especially if it means fixing your neighbours roof too. You may be able to get the money back from them, worst case take it to court to put a charging order on their property.

Now I don't know how realistic this would be but many areas of this forum have people with a huge wealth of knowledge and I am sure someone may be able to point you in the right direction.

Thank you Drawingaline, I’ll definitely look into it. It’s a shared chimney that is the problem and neighbour agrees it needs removing but doesn’t want to pay half. Said neighbour has now taken to ignoring me when I say hello in the street. I give up with some people.

Today has been one of those days where I wish I’d stayed in bed.
The internet and phone has stopped working, so have an engineer coming out tomorrow. Had to WFH from OH’s but he wasn’t in the best of moods today.
Ex informed me half an hour before leaving this morning that he couldn’t pick DS up today or take him to school tomorrow, having had a week to make alternative arrangements from the predicament he’s out himself in - long story.  He’s responsible for only three pick up/drop offs out of ten each week… my car was in the garage so I couldn’t do anything about it. Cue me having to pick the car up early and run round like a madwoman just to make sure my child was collected from school and not left on the street.  Then I got attitude from DS the entire time who now thinks ex can do no wrong. He really upset me today, I was close to tears when I dropped him off at his father’s.
I received something in the mail today I’d ordered, but it arrived in two pieces (should have been in one piece!).
Finally, my car passed the MOT, only for me to get a puncture on the way out of the garage, you couldn’t make it up!
