Did you manage to get the changes done to the mix before you used it.  Just google it.  I don't use SR anymore & it saves some storage.  I've amended alll my recipes & had no problems at all.
  • So sorry about your mum. But how lovely you are to think of others, even if the cake didn't work out. I find sometimes that happens where every single thing goes wrong and with baking you can't wing it as much!

I am jealous of your new bathroom. Our ensuite could do with a redo, but it is not so bad that it HAS to be done, well not just yet anyway.

Thanks badmemory, I will have to google that. The cake came out fine for us to eat but I wouldn’t give it away.  :#

The plumbers are working today to try and get the bathroom completed which will be a relief, but it does mean I’m stuck in the house a bit today when I could really have done with getting out in the fresh air for a bit. 😕 Don’t want to moan though as I will just be so pleased when this is all done. OH is going to come up for some brunch soon, so at least I’ll have some company for a bit.

£20 cashback has become payable from TCB, so I’ve withdrawn that to the bank account this morning.

Last night I returned the school trousers that didn’t fit DS to m&s, so that’s £15 back. I still need to find some that do fit though. 🙄 I also returned a £10 item to primark for a refund.
Grocery shopping came in at around £45. OH had a £4 off a £40 spend voucher which he kindly gave me too, so that reduced it a bit.

I’ve advertised another item for free on a local fb group and a lady is apparently coming to collect today, so hopefully that helps someone out a little.

I’ve ordered another Christmas gift for DS, only something small, but it is something he will like, so have transferred the funds from the gift pot.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx

  • Sounds like the house is coming together. How kind of you to do a cake for your neighbour’s daughter. Thinking of you and your mum...hope the medical people can help her with the pain levels.

All of the bathroom is finally in and looks lovely. The plumber is returning to alter a couple of bits and I need to paint some more and tody up in a couple of places, but it is a fully functional bathroom which is a bit of a novelty! DS has enjoyed two lovely deep bubble baths so far, I was looking forward to one tonight, but then DS had another big nosebleed just as he went to bed, so my bath went out of the window trying to stop the blood and clear up. Poor DS, he puts up with a lot and never complains, even when he has a tired, stressed and grumpy Mum to put up with as he has a lot lately. 😢

Today I painted the flood coat to the new plaster on the bathroom ceiling and sections of walls that aren’t tiled. It was a horrible job, trying not to get paint everywhere and the ceilings are very high in this house so reaching everywhere was tricky. Tomorrow I will paint the ceiling white with the top coat, the walls will have to wait until I have bought some bathroom paint. I do have some non-bathroom paint but am guessing it’s better to use one specifically for bathrooms.

I picked up an order from a DIY store today - the last couple of materials needed to finish the downstairs loo. I then picked up bread and a couple of items in the nearby farm foods, but paid cash for that. I have some cash in my purse presently as I had to withdraw money for the waste removal guy who took away the old bathroom suite and other rubbish (fully licensed, recommended and legit, so no chance of fly tipping). He cost £160, I withdrew £260 as I didn’t know how much he would charge. £10 of the cash has gone on a birthday present, the rest I’ll use gradually for groceries or pay back in the bank when I can.

On the way to pick DS up from school I dropped the charity stuff off at the charity shop. So pleased to have done that as the box and bag full I had has been loitering in my house and/or car boot for weeks.

Further spends on the house this week for 3 blinds for the bathroom, WC and landing and a storage cupboard for the bathroom. Two of the three storage items doesn’t now fit in the bathroom, so one of those has gone to OH, the other given to his sister.

Too tired to report more for now, dropping off writing this… night all xx

£20 from TCB received this morning, so I've transferred it to Pot 1 which I've dipped into recently to pay for OH's birthday present - taking him for a few days away as a little staycation. The pot now stands at £720, but I would like to get it back up to at least £1000 as it covers the car and house insurance/tax/MOT and any work needed on the car etc and I know my car will need some rather expensive work doing within the next 12 months.

Had a bit of a shock to find a man standing, staring at my house first thing this morning, turns out they are starting to remove the render today - would have nice to have been told, but am just glad it's being started. The noise is something else today though... :s

I was going to paint the bathroom ceiling again today, but I just can't summon the energy to do it at the moment, so will leave it for tomorrow.

  • You’ve had such great momentum since moving in, envious and you don’t sound far from the finishing line!!

Thanks both, yes it is hard to keep going with it all sometimes. I am determined to get the bathroom ceiling painted again tomorrow though and then it’s just the colour to paint on the walls, but I haven’t decided what to go for yet. I have plain white metro tiles in the bathroom now up to halfway, I want to be brave me go for a dark blue or green above them, but will probably wimp out and paint it a warm grey instead. :# It’s quite a large bathroom with very high ceilings and a big window, so lots of light.

Today hasn’t been quite testing to be honest. The noise from the render removal is horrendous and I’m stuck in the house. The neighbour has complained about the dust in their garden too (despite the house being empty now) so I’ve cleaned that up tonight to keep the peace. It will no doubt be worse tomorrow when more render is hacked off at a lower level. I’m also really anxious that the vibrations from the work are going to exacerbate a few cracks in the house, namely a path and plaster ceiling, but little I can do about it. A large crack has also been discovered in the brickwork underneath the render, I’m trying not to worry about it… (but I am). The nerves and anxiety all stems from the lovely old house we had a 3 years ago when so many problems were discovered that we had to move out quick. That house has a lot to answer for.  :(

A positive today is that we finally have flooring in our hallway and WC. After the third attempt, it’s finally been fitted and looks lovely. It’s only vinyl flooring, and the floor underneath wasn’t in the greatest condition, so I hope it lasts for a good while.

I’ve paid the plumber tonight and my bank balance has gone from over £3K as it’s been for sometime, to just over £150.  :s   Not a nice feeling at all and one that makes me feel quite panicky, The rest of the money allocated for building works is still in the premium bonds account so I’ll remove the bulk of that once I need to pay for the works now ongoing, only then can I see what I have leftover to pay for the garden. Fingers crossed there’s enough to cover it and I don’t need to lend any more. Xx
