I think a lot of kids would much rather stay at home & slob. I remember as a kid I used to hate holidays. Even now I am really glad to get home.

Thank you Drawingaline and badmemory, I think you're right about putting too much on ourselves sometimes. I'm lucky in that DS is more than happy to stay at home, but I think he's too keen to do that sometimes and would quite happily stay in front of a screen all day if Iet him!
We took the school trousers I'd ordered back to M&S last night as they were huge, bought the next size down and, lo and behold, they are too small.I need to take those back in the next few days and get a refund, we'll be giving M&S sizes a wide berth for now. The ex picked up some school trousers and shorts from Asda for DS, the trousers fitted, shorts were too small - both the same size.
Will try Tesco as soon as I have chance to get there.
We also popped to primarni as it is in the same shopping park as M&S. We managed to get socks (men's sizes for my 10 year old, kid's socks just don't fit!), pants, swim shorts and a winter hat/scarf/gloves set for DS. Unfortunately the hat, despite being a large, doesn't fit DS so that set will have to go back too!DS also found a hooded blanket type thing there he wanted and asked if he could buy it with his money - I bought it for him, he never asks for anything so it was a pleasure to buy him something he wanted. After I have returned the small items for refund, it will be a spend of £36.
The bathroom work continues today, it's coming along and will look lovely when it's done, I'm sure. The plumber also removed a huge spider from the house for me yesterday too so he's worth what I'm paying him!Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £52,056.86

The best thing to do is to actually measure your son then take the tape measure shopping with you and measure the clothes too.1

I've sorted out DS's old school uniform this morning and offered it for free on a local FB site, hopefully it helps someone out. I still have a large box of stuff to take to the charity shop which I need to find time to do as well. I'm pretty sure I could find a few more bits to add to it before it leaves the house though.
I received a bill today a bit out of the blue for just over £45 from the energy company that supplied this property when I moved into it. I repeatedly tried to get a bill out of them months ago as I switched almost immediately but had no joy and had given up. I hadn't budgeted for it, but I've paid it and the tax credits will cover it tomorrow.
I need to pick up DS's prescription later and pick up our washing from OH's garden which I hung on his line this morning after the school run - my garden is unusable until I can get someone to dig it out for us - it's literally a wilderness and a right mess at the moment. I bought a new washing line shortly after moving in, but my temporary fix of putting it in a parasol base just isn't working and the washing ends up on the floor most of the time so I've given up with that. I'll chase the garden guy again later today, but also asked the plumber's mate to ask his friend to quote on the work needed as he is in the trade.
I've also chased the building company doing the exterior work today too, they're over a month late starting the job and the issues it's causing are getting worse. That work is going to cost the best part of £11K, hopefully no more, so my savings will be taking a massive hit, but I just want to get the work done now.

The surprise energy bill happened with us here too when we moved in Jan. I got a small one and then three months later long after we switched we got a quite large one! However I can't fault their customer service they were brilliant to deal with and I may switch back once I my current deal finishes.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉1

Drawingaline, glad to hear your company were good to deal with, the one I had to pay were rubbish. Just ignored me numerous times and kept insisting I set up an account with them and give them my bank details which I refused to do, rather than just pay what was due by card. I paid by card easily enough when they sent me the bill!Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £52,056.86

A lady came and collected the too-small-for-DS school uniform yesterday and was very grateful, I'm glad it helped someone out a little.
Feeling a bit low today, DS is going back to his Dad's for the first time in two weeks and I will miss him. I don't feel like we've had a great few weeks either, we haven't been able to do much and have been a bit cooped up in the house. I don't feel like we've made the best of our time together.
I'm also feeling a bit down and lonely tbh. I could really do with a cuppa and a chat with a friend, but I don't have many of those here and I'm stuck in the house with the plumbers here atm.
I texted a friend yesterday who is having a hard time of it and we've said we'll meet up soon - trouble is, I don't have much spare time these days as I work every day until the afternoon and have no annual leave left. Weekends are either spent with DS one day and OH the other and she has kids so is with family in the evenings. It's hard to try and find
Urgh, just heard there's a positive case of covid in DS's class, am so anxious about this flipping virus again.

Oh MeandO so sorry your feeling low. Wish I lived near you I’d definitely have a natter and a cuppa. I’m sure your son doesn’t mind what he has done the last two weeks as he has you. Your bound to miss him when he goes to his Dad’s after being on summer holidays. Things will get better. Take care Much love xx2025 Decluttering 9127⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you Mrs_Money_Penny xxHad the news my lovely Mum has been rushed to hospital again this morning so I’m feeling really low and anxious today and close to tears.I felt uneasy after speaking to my Mum on the phone last night, she sounded like she’d given up. She is in so much pain day and night and never gets a rest from it. She found out last week she needs emergency surgery, but the risk of her having even an anaesthetic is so high, I don’t know what they’re going to do, if they can do anything.
The car tax came today and so I’ve paid it, only £30 for my little car.
I made a cake this morning with the intention of giving it to my next door neighbour’s daughter. I don’t know her very well as we have not been here that long, but have chatted with her a few times. Her Dad (my neighbour) has sadly, just died and I thought it may cheer her up, but I’ll have to make another next week... First I realised I’d used the wrong bag of flour (plain instead of S.R.) as I was mixing the cake mix, then I burnt the sides of all three layers in the oven whilst talking to the plumbers, then dropped my lovely (but heavy!) mixer whilst putting it away, split the utility room vinyl floor and took a chunk out of my thumb. Looks like OH and I have a slightly burnt cake to eat this weekend. 🙄
Hopefully the plumbers have nearly finished now. I think they may have to come back next week and finish a few things and I have to paint the ceiling and walls, but it is looking lovely.Could do with having my house back for a while now though.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £52,056.86
