My first offer on the house was rejected, I had to offer them full asking price which was another £5K which I did and they accepted. 😊 I hope the mortgage valuation says it’s worth that amount though as it does need some work done and I think it’s around £5K overpriced tbh, but that’s the way the market is at the moment here. I have mixed feelings. We do like the house very much, I just have to steel myself to get in there and get the jobs done that need doing, the garden and a bit of render repair being the main issues.  It would have been easier if everything was done but then I guess the price would have been a lot higher.
It’s £57,000 cheaper than my house, so initially I will be knocking a huge chunk off the mortgage whilst keeping some back for fixing it up, but I need to speak to my mortgage advisor first to decide which is the best method of porting the mortgage and paying off a chunk without early repayment fees. My appointment is booked in for next week.
That all depends on the survey coming back ok though and everything else going to plan...
Oh, and I’ve paid the credit card off with savings, so am £600 down, but wanted the credit card cleared before sorting the new mortgage.
Fantastic news MeandO!! I think the main thing is you feel like it’s a place you want to be as the housing market at the moment is pretty crazy.
Ill be keeping my fingers crossed for you both that it all goes through relatively pain free!!

  • Oh thats briliant I am so pleased for you, the house although not perfect at the moment gives you so much scope to put your stamp on it, its so exciting.  Finger crossed for a good survey. I am sure its going to work out wonderfully for you, you and your little boy totally deserve some luck.
My house has only just gone on the market but I am impatient to get it sold although I am not buying another.

Hope all goes smoothly for you. The housing market is crazy at the moment no doubt due to the stamp duty holiday and the prospect that interest rates will be low for some time.

    Thank you everyone xx
I am excited now. I just want us to be moved already and to get on with making the house ours and fixing the bits that need attention. OH and I have walked up there a few times now at different times of the day and I get more excited every time I go there. It is in such a nice area (apart from the road noise, which hasn't been nearly as bad as I first anticipated) and I think it will be a wonderful home for DS and I for at least the next 10 years. I just can't wait.
There have been a couple of bits and pieces that have been discussed via estate agents and the vendors this week, but I am happy with their response to those issues now so I just want to get cracking. I really don't want to lose that house.
I've paid £125 to my solicitors for the searches today and my buyers mortgage valuation guy has been around to our current house this morning and said everything is fine. :)
