Thank you all, it's nice to feel a bit positive about something for a change. If I'm honest, I did have doubts about the last property I was supposed to be buying last year, but this one just feels like it is meant to be, despite there being a few issues that need attention.
I have already started to pay out for things and forgot how much buying and selling a house costs. I'm glad to have some savings to use as I would be stuck without them; they are going down rapidly though. Today I've contacted several surveyors for prices for surveys, think I'll be going with the guy who did the last one though. Tomorrow I have a video call with the bank to organise my mortgage. I've also chased up my solicitor with regards to an issue that needed sorting with the deeds of the current house, thankfully he is on the ball with that.

In other news, I am quite concerned about DS. He seems quite down lately which isn't like him. I've talked to him about things and he said nothing specific is bothering him, just that life is boring at the moment.  :( I hope he starts to feel better once he can start playing sports again and school is back to normal after the easter holidays. It breaks me to see him sad.

Meando, my 8yr old is sad at the moment, keeps saying how boring it all is. We made a list of places to go when restrictions ease. That helped a bit. Tbh all my kids are struggling, very glad my girl is working or she would barely leave the house.

So sorry to hear your little one feels the same Drawingaline, it’s horrible isn’t it. It’s so out of character for my DS too which is what makes it such a worry. I do hope they all start to feel a bit more optimistic and a bit brighter soon. Good idea about the list, DS asked today if we could go to a favourite camp site of his when things are better, so that’s second on our list after visiting my parents. I hope your little person feels happier sooner. Xx

Just over £500 paid out today for a full building survey on the potential new house. I have everything crossed it comes back ok, I will be devastated if we don’t end up moving to this house. This was the cheapest quote I had by far (around £200 less), but also the most highly recommended. I think I may have had it for mates rates as I name dropped a friend and ex colleague of his who recommended him to me.
I also had confirmation from the EA today that building works to the perimeter of the property that were supposed to have been done by now (part of planning permission terms) will be done by the summer. It’s all in writing and I’m really pleased it will be done as it will be of massive benefit to myself and will save me from having to pay out to get it done myself once I’m there.

My mortgage meeting went well today, although a little odd doing it via video call as was nearly an hour long. It’s all worked out really well, I have 3 sub accounts on my mortgage from mortgages past and the advisor has wangled it so I have got rid of the one with the highest interest on it and massively reduced one of the others. Both are on a rate of 1.77% although one of them is due for renewal in July. :) It also means, I have reduced my mortgage term by 9 years, from 20 years to 11, and can overpay by 10% per calendar year to pay it off even quicker. I will aim to pay it off before I’m 50 (a mere 8 years away). 😃 I’m so pleased.
I am just hoping and praying this all goes through quickly without problems.

We've not been getting much sleep in our house as poor DS has been suffering with terrible congestion at night time to the point of not being able to breathe. This has been going on for months now, but has got increasingly worse this week  so I now have a dr's appointment with him for later today. I feel so sorry for him, he hasn't had a good night's sleep in ages and we've both been up at 2am - 3am for a few hours each night. I have an inkling it may be a side effect from his condition or meds, but we shall see.

There's no further news to report on the house, I am getting a little impatient and just want to be moved already. I'll be happier when I know my purchaser's sale has gone through in a few weeks time and they will then be chain free as they are moving in with parents for a little while.

Today is payday so I've allocated money to all my bills and categories in YNAB. I have been able to put a total of £456 into savings today with another £50 to go to the premium bonds in a few days, so over £500 saved this month. The council tax free month has helped with this. I have also paid £58.66 off the mortgage to round it down to £95,400; I can't wait until that mortgage is a huge amount lower when we are (hopefully) in the new house.

Two loads of washing are on the line drying, the third load I've managed to line dry this week. It's such a nice change not having to use the TD, seems like ages since we had the weather for line drying!

I'm another year older today  :| and my wonderful family have sent me a huge delivery of lovely fruit and veg from a local supplier and beautiful flowers have just turned up from them and some from a friend too.  <3 I'm very lucky. My parents and my sister also kindly sent me some money which I'll put towards savings. I haven't opened anything yet as am on my own working all day anyway and will wait until DS is home form school as he gets excited about these things. He wants (me) to order pizza tonight and watch a movie so that's what we'll do. :)
We had a trip to the doctor's last night who checked DS over and put him on more medication. :( I'm starting to think the dust from this building site we live on may be the cause of a lot of his problems. The dust is just horrendous, nothing like the other new build sites I've lived on before either. You can clean the window sills and by the same evening they'll be covered in dust again, and that's with the windows closed... the window vents are so bad that they let everything in, even when they're closed. The sooner we're moved from here, the better.

I did our weekly shop at Lidl yesterday but didn't need a lot. It came to around £30 which included some treats for Easter for DS (using some vouchers from the app). I think I've now spent over £100 in there in the past month, so am eligible for £2 back or something which is better than nothing.

Not much else to report, hoping the banging heading I woke up with disappears soon.
Have a good day all xx

The £50 DD has gone to the premium bonds account and I've transferred another £100 from birthday money, so total savings now at £5050. It's building back up again after paying the credit card off and paying for the house survey and searches. :)
