Really hoping that things get sorted for your Dad. It definitely puts things into perspective when people you love are ill. Sending positive thoughts of love and healing.
Pleased that you've made a decision about the house. Hopefully the survey will be able to put your mind at rest that it's fine, or that anything that needs seeing to is doable.
Sending you gentle (((hugs))) and hoping that everything improves quickly. XXXXI Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and virtual hugs. The past 24 hours have been quite fraught and things were looking bleak, but tonight has brought slightly better news in that Dad has shown a slight improvement. It’s definitely a day at a time at the moment though. I have had a few wobbles today. Days like this I’m glad not to be in an office full of people, the tears wouldn’t stop at one point today. At least no one sees me here and DS was at school.
In house news, I have had to pay out another £350 today. It seems the developers also have a clause written into the contract that you have to pay them to release documents needed in order to sell. My solicitors were disgusted and said it was almost criminal, but at this stage, I’ll just pay it to get out of here. Nothings surprises me with these crooks. If this sale and purchase doesn’t happen then I’ll lose £1000 already. The survey is being done next week so hopefully I won’t have to wait too long to get that back.I’ve sorted through some more clothes today and have finally thrown out clothes that I was keeping for ‘when I could fit back in them.’ 😩 Loads of jeans and, ironically, gym clothing from when I used to go to the gym. Most of it wouldn’t go near me and I don’t want to have to move all that and find space for it in the smaller house. I will sell a couple of items that were almost new and sell well on eBay. I’ve already listed a new jacket that doesn’t fit me and two of DS’s old Christmas jumpers which are too small for him. The jumpers have sold within a couple of hours for £10, so I’ll package those and send them tomorrow. At least it’s a little bit towards the various fees I’m having to pay at the moment. It is also payday today and I’m yet to allocate everything in YNAB so that’s my next job.Hope all and everyone is well and safe xxMortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

I'm with your solicitors in this. Some of these contracts should be made illegal. Hopefully they will in the not too distant future.I thought it was bad enough when my leaseholders kept selling it on again & again. Each time they did it the new owner would try to tell me that I owed at least a years ground rent. I had to pay 3 years when I first moved in because the previous owner supposedly hadn't paid. No forwarding address so I couldn't check. After the first I used to keep records that I could send to them. The relief when I got a letter saying for a fee I could buy the freehold from them. But some of these newer leases seem positively criminal or at the very least a form of extortion. I don't get why the buyers solicitors aren't advising against buying. Unless of course the buyer is using the seller's solicitor because it will "save them money". I've been told that more than once.I don't trust solicitors to know their job. The first one I had dealings with told me it didn't matter that the line drawn on the map was around the wrong house. Then charged for putting their mistake right. The second one in today's prices almost cost me about £100k, thank goodness for interfering know-it-all fathers. The third one is probably costing me well over £5k a year, no pension sharing.2

As it is, mine isn't actually leasehold, it's freehold, but there is a charge annually for the areas of communal grass to be cut and that is what's causing the problems.
Sorry to hear you have had problems with solicitors too, I've dealt with some really bad ones in the past. Thankfully I now have one I trust and whom has really helped me, and also my parents, out over the past few years. It is not a large company, but a small family team who only have the one local office and they're not scared off by the big companies but rather ignore the nonsense they spout and deal with the facts. They are also very kind people. It's a refreshing change from a solicitor.Mortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Thank you for the hugs Four_Seasons and HSL2 xx
I had a telephone parent consultation with DS's teacher today and to say I'm proud of him is an understatement. Kind, caring, funny, extremely competent and excelling in most subjects and his teacher even said his friends are lucky to have him as their buddy. He is my shining star.
Today I need to pick up DS's medication, package and post the ebay parcel, list one other item on there and chase up a quote from a removal company. I also need a little bit of shopping but will wait until Friday or Saturday to pick that up.
The savings have taken a beating with all these fees to pay out lately so my signature is wrong, but I will update that when things have settled. No point dwelling in the balances going down at the moment as they are facilitating me moving on and having more money in the bank at the end of it all.
Have a good day all xxMortgage @ 03/2019: £125,000, Now: £51,706.16

Chuffed for you re: the telephone version of parent's evening. Everything else pales in significance.

Today I learnt that my last house, the one DS I loved so much and thought would be our home for life, is back on the market. It feels like a kick in the stomach tbh. I’m so sad. We adored that house and it was very much our home, it was just devastating to have to leave it and feels very much like a bereavement, even to this day.
For a crazy moment, I even considered buying it back, but I know the problems that exist there and I could never do that. Such a shame though. 😥
I paid my car insurance today - £258 - just about had enough in the pot to cover it. This has been such an expensive week what with the car and the house, I just hope the house spending is not all for nothing. I’m dreading getting that survey.
