I'm looking at Fibre, mainly for faster upload speeds so that I can host occasional online gaming sessions. It seems some providers don't offer great upload speeds, with Virgin Media and Talk Talk only managing 2-3Mb.
Sky give 10Mb and Plusnet 19.5Mb but the latter uses Traffic Shaping, so even though it would only cost £203.82/18 months (works out as £11.32/month, with 6 months at £3.99 then 12 months at £14.99) plus £155.88/12 months line rental and there's £150 cashback available via TCB or Quidco, I'm reluctant to risk them in case it messes things up for me.0 -
Hi,
Could anyone help me out please. I am coming to the end of my 12 month contract with TalkTalk on the 22nd September and was hoping to take advantage of the upcoming Sky Broadband and phone deal but I will still be in contract with TalkTalk at the time I need to sign up to Sky.
Does anyone know if it will be possible to sign up to Sky but make the switch over date after the 22nd September by which time I would be out of contract?
Many thanks for any help or advice and I appreciate that the deal isn't public yet but thought some people may have tried similar with other offers in the past.
Thanks.
When I gave Plusnet 14 days notice (as required) they tried to dissuade me, with various offers, then issued me a MAC code a couple of days later. The MAC code is used by the new supplier to switch you. The MAC code expires in 4 weeks. So, assuming TalkTalk operate in a similar way, I think your timing may be perfect.0 -
I've just signed up for the SKY deal via TopCashBack, as highlighted by Doveman above (thanks Doveman!:money:). Got in ahead of the crowd tomorrow <:
It seems too good to be true - actually making a small profit over 12 months on the deal - but the cashback has already tracked.
What the service is like remains to be seen ...0 -
Topcashback seems to be offering £94.50 cashback along with £100 M&S vouchers from Sky, which is slightly better than £185 M&S vouchers, although I guess we might be able to get the cashback and £185 vouchers when the deal goes live.
However, the TCB terms say you can't get cashback if you live in a block of flats, which excludes me
Quidco offering £105 + £100 M&S voucher0 -

The £105 is for Standalone fibre unlimited (cable - a more expensive deal).
However, for Broadband unlimited (the same one as the MSE blagged deal) it's a healthy £100 + £100 M&S voucher. Truly remarkable offer - assuming you already have a BT line, the total cost of this 12 month contract is only £191.75 (£15.40 per month for line rental and £6.95 for delivery of the router). Note that cashback sites TopCashBack and Quidco are now both (marginally) beating the MSE deal. These offers probably won't last long.0 -
I just signed up for the MSE deal, as my Talk Talk contract ends in a few weeks. Just a warning to others doing this, it looks like the line rental is a minimum 18 month contract (the broadband is only 12 months), and I've also been charged £20 for phone line transfer from Talk Talk - so it looks like this will apply to everyone new to Sky?
Still a good deal.
Just need to get the MAC code from Talk Talk now.0 -
Seems that once again MSE crashes a webpage:rotfl:
I cannot get past the "voucher window" buy now page:mad::heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -

I think the 12 months or 18 months depends upon what you are going for. From the T&C's:
"Sky Broadband general: £6.95 router delivery charge. Speeds vary significantly by location. 12 month minimum subscriptions except new 18 month minimum subscriptions for Sky Fibre Unlimited + Sky Talk & Line Rental. New 12 month minimum subscriptions for Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro + Sky Talk & Line Rental. "
Did you go for Sky Fibre Unlimited + Sky Talk & Line Rental?
Can't see anything about the £20 phone line transfer though???
Seems there is no way out of the £6.95 delivery charge for the router despite the fact I don't want or need one.0 -
Just checked and I can't get the Sky or EE offers in my area as they haven't rolled out to my area (no ever seems to have done so!)
So guess it will be a matter of trying to negotiate with TalkTalk. For new customers I see you can get:
Simply Broadband & Line Rental for £193.20 for the year plus £125 cash back via Quidco making it £68.20 for the first year = £5.68/month.
So that is what I will be aiming for in my negotiations. Has anyone else got any decent deals out of TalkTalk recently who are existing customers?
Thanks.0 -

When paulbrennan posted that last night it was £105 on Quidco for standalone broadband unlimited but it's since changed to £100 (I ordered it last night, and just checked my screengrab of the Quidco page).
As you say, though, still an amazing deal.0
