Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!! Do not go anywhere near supanet please!!
If the slightest thing goes wrong their customer service is shocking:(0 -
Hooray!
Finally my contract with BT has ended, you can live vicariously through me and feel my happiness.
Got straight on the phone to BT and just got my MAC code. (Was like pulling teeth as expected.)
Hopefully this thread will get some answers as I don't particularly want to make a new one just for me.
Anyway, I'm looking for an ISP, which has unlimited downloads, and 8mb speed. Of course cheaper the better. My local exchange hasn't been unbundled yet though, so it does limit my options somewhat. Demon seems pretty good, but most reviews I've found have been negative, so if any of you can suggest a provider to me I'd be very grateful. Thankyou.0 -
steveint, o2 has unlimited downloads and 8mb plus free wireless router for 12.50 a month or 7.50 if your a customer already. even if your not a customer you could get a payg sim card free with o2 and top it up, then once every 3 months i believe... could someone confirm this?0
-
Yeah I can't get O2's unbundled service, but I can get their other service, home broadband for £22.50 a month, or £17.50 for O2 customers. Decided to go with that, got a new sim card coming in the post as we speak. £17.50 is a lot cheaper than the £27.99 I was paying BT that's for sure!
I would like to know the same though, how much I have to top it up for it to still count? I'm actually going to be using the sim in my current phone anyway so it shouldn't be a problem, but I'm not the biggest mobile user so still would be good to know.0 -
heres the o2 t & c's, so you have to add on £40 a year to the total broadband cost. i will have to compare that with plus net / newnet as recommended on the b/b/ article:
Discounted price quoted is for O2 Mobile customers. One discount per customer and per connection. Discount for Pay & Go customers subject to £10 minimum top-up every 3 months. Fair usage policy applies. View full terms.
so , if you get the 7.50 deal, thats 90 a year + 40 for the sim card which = 130 and ends up being 10.83 a month... still not bad considering free wireless router and unlimited downloads... plus u can use the payg card for 300 free texts each top up0 -
i just had a thought, when i phoned the post office i'm fairly sure they said if i placed an order then its either free or £110 based on whether an engineer is required. now i know no engineer is required, should i have gone with the post office for free and had no contract?? what do the post office get out of that, if i could switch straight to talktalk? or someone else?0

According to BTIf your home has had telephone service from BT in the recent past, and the wiring and socket is undamaged and the line still has dialling tone, it's likely you won't need to pay this connection charge. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
but what do the post office get out of it, if you get a free re connection through them, with no contract and move straight away to a line rental /broadband package from somebody else?0
-
i'm going to call talktalk to see if they do a broadband only deal (they used to), if no luck there then i am signing up to o2, i have a payg sim card and might even be tempted to sign up to a contract if necessary. they have unlimited downloads and a free wireless router.0
