There's probably nothing wrong with Tisclai's phone service, but their broadband service is known to be the worst in the country, slow speeds, poor customer service, etc etc - a happy Tiscali customer with no problems, and good experience with everything else is like a needle in a haystack.
  • Free broadband for sky customers?

Does it not cost £75 to activate it?

    That's £6.25 per month.

New customers £30 activation fee, £2.50 per month.

That's not free, am i missing something?
  • I currently have broadband with Namesco, its 2MB and capped at 5GB a month. I'm looking at torrents and the file i want to download is 6.5GB so obviously need to upgrade my ISP. I pay £15 a month at the moment, I need some advice with
who to go with. Namesco have been an excellent isp but the limits are going to start hurting my wallet!!

I've been with Tiscali for just over a year now and the time finally came to change provider - as of today.

I just wanted to let you know that you really do get what you pay for in Tiscali's case. They are cheap - very cheap and the service is just that. If you don't have any speed issues, connection issues or anything that involves you needing to speak to someone helpful at Tiscali then it will be a great service for you.

If you do, however, incur a speed problem or something else then please don't expect them to be very helpful. I have probably sent around 100 emails to Tech Support and Customer Complaints in the past year to complain about the slow speeds I encountered during peak hours - basically the hours that I use the web. I received very simple emails that look like a template and therefore not at all specific to the problem I faced.

I have never had to deal with a company as poor at looking after their customers as they are and if they don't watch out they will lose all of the customer after the first year (the minimum period you have to be with them)

Now, please don't just take my word for it - take a look at the DSL Zone reviews of Tiscali (there are over 1,000 of them) http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_ratings_comments.php?isp=14

It's not very often I take to the internet to voice my disappointment with a company as I always like to give them a very good chance to prove themselves but I did give them 13 months to prove themselves and the did a very good job at proving how bad they are.

I have just switched my service to ADSL 24 (http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_ratings_comments.php?isp=98) after the incredibly feedback they receive. Yes, they are £19.99 a month compared to the £17.99 inc free calls I was receiving with Tiscali but sometimes you have to pay the little bit extra to get a better service. They also don't lock you in to a 12 month contract - it's only 1 month which goes to prove to me, from the offset, that they must be confident in the service they provide.

    BE WARNED.

Well worth looking at http://www.dslzoneuk.net/ for reviews etc. I've just signed up with ADSL24 at £19.99 a month for 30gb during the day and 300gb during the evening. They do receive great reviews and even take a look at their website and go to the forum section to show how happy people are with them and how helpful the staff seem to be.

So does anyone know of a site that gives an accurate comparison for those of us on exchanges where LLU hasn't happened and isn't likey to any time soon? All of the best deals in the MSE newsletter and even after you have put your phone number in on usual suspect comparion sites come up with lists deals that sound good but as soon as you go to the company website and fill in the details all the best details dissapear!

You seem to be spamming this forum with this link which doesn't take you to the report at all, but to your magazine's home page.
