On the Brexit front, today I read a story on the bbc by Simon Jacks who stated that the latest item to be vunerable is .............. the sandwich ! The title is " Brexit threat to sandwiches " Honestly I haven't made it up !
Fear factor again from our betters.
We will be so terrified that any solution they agree to (whether you are Remain or Leave) will be greeted with sighs of relief.
It is in the manual for these things. Frighten the life out of them, so anything better than Armageddon is great. :rotfl:
BTW I did not intend to insult anyone there. It is just in my totally cynical nature to do say these things!0 -
I don't think a journalist is my better, even though I don't mind Simon Jack.
I agree with you in terms of scaremongering though. It's a tactic used all too often.
I'm very cynical too. I see it as a curse of mine but it's because I'm wary that I research and that's a good thing I think0 -

I also think that another tactic is to make the electorate bored out of their tree.
That seems to be working to an extent with all the cries for "let's just leave NOW and get it over with"
OK so.0 -
Nah, they're much more sinister - they would prefer us to turn on each other distracted while they do as they wish. Seems to be working so far, in my opinion.
I do think, for the good of the thread, that politics should be dropped now. I think it would be a shame if the plug was pulled on this thread.
I do wonder about flax and chia scotinlondon, I use both in small amounts daily. A little proactivity from me on that front. (could be a pun:eek:)0 -
My view is buy things for storage that you like and will actually EAT!
Everyone is different I know that, but lentils give me so much gas I could launch a basket balloon thing.
So every week I have thrown a tin of salmon, and UHT milk in. Plus a tin or two of creamed rice.
I think I could survive on that for a few weeks, and I love tinned salmon.0 -
Hoping that Kittie will be back soon #free kittie

There's an old saying 'Keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer' it has much relevance even in 2018!
We'll be wise to not take notice of dissent and provocative posts, 'divide and conquer' is also an old saying that has much relevance in 2018 but then so does 'all for one and one for all' and that is how I see the prepping element on all the OS threads, we're a band together because we're all singing from the same hymn sheet and we're strong and made of tougher stuff than to be driven apart by bullish words from total strangers, onwards and upwards towards Brexit together what ever may happen, always together!0 -

That's why it occurred to me..am a veggie...
This thread has also got me thinking that I need to finish my professional exams sooner rather than later so I can start my own veg patch in the lovely London clay...did have one before in the garden but life got in the way...0 -

Except I would amend the phrasing "our betters" - as I don't believe in any such concept:rotfl:. Go for "Our equals in different positions to us".... There was a time (and it was decades ago) when I thought "The fact they are in those positions must mean they are more intelligent than me and/or more practical than me". It took a while to realise it meant no such thing - it just meant they were more ruthless, more selfish, brown-nose more, etc......
I'll admit to thinking any time I notice any Fear Factor stuff going on - "You'll have to try a lot harder than that to frighten me matey - you should see one or two of the employers I've had - and you are in kindergarten compared to what they were like for putting on the "frighteners".
I long ago learnt to think "What's the worst case analysis of what could possibly happen here?". As a friend of mine said to me recently "Nothing is ever as bad as one fears. Nothing is ever as good as one hopes for". I guess that about sums it up as a rule for life...:cool:0
