We've bought a few things extra and we always have bulk stores of pasta as we like a type that has to be bought in as it isn't sold here generally (spaghettini). Do I think we'll need it? I hope not, however I think back to visiting our local shops after the bad snow earlier in the year when they had problems with deliveries for a day or two -the shelves were empty and they were throwing away the food that arrived late in lorries as it was already out of date. I think that is a very good example of how critical the food chain alone and its 'just in time' requirements.0

Each to their own:)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I have a corned beef pie craving now which is bizarre as I don't like pastry and corned beef is too salty for me.:cool:0

Interesting read about the effects of a no deal Brexit.

Not politics, practicality.
I am not fussed on eating meat but others might be affectedI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
The comments on that piece were interesting particularly the debate about the need to train our own population rather than bringing in people already trained. A much longer term issue of course, but I've always thought it scandalous that young people who really want to go into nursing can't get trained while we bring in trained nurses from countries that can ill afford to lose themIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Can I ask how you store flour, lentils etc in your freezer.
I usually just buy one bag at a time and replace when nearly finished.
Do you put them in ziploc bags or storage boxes, only thinking storing for too long they may get bugs if kept in the cupboard
thank youIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
I don't actually store them in the freezer, I just give them a blast to make sure nothing can hatch and then I store in glass jars for preference but at any rate something mouseproof, having seen the damage one little mouse can do:eek:It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I would ziplock bag them so they didn't get damp and then take the frozen product out of that bag to defrost it so any inside the bag moisture could evaporate.0

I was talking about Brexit to someone yesterday and she said there would be a shortage of paper. She said the newsprint etc is imported so delays would mean rising costs. Do we make loo roll etc in this country or is it all foreign. I wasn't bothered about the daily paper as I prefer to read it on line.
I stock pile a few tins well maybe more than a few in the drawers under the bed in the spare room. If a guest staying fancied a tin of pineapple in the middle of the night they wouldn't have to go farhttps://images6.moneysavingexpert.com/images/forum_smilies/laughing-smiley-014.giffar.0
