- lack of competence or people that do not yet sufficient experience of the job
- lack of data or confusing information from scientific experts
- intention to prioritise national industry (or some parts of it) vs national health
Now I cannot explain why after so much noise etc orders for ventilators were put with some british manufacturers like Dyson and JCB over other british and non british ones liike Gtec and Airbus, instead of with companies that have established products even if non in the UK.
We are being told that billions are being put forward to build an industry, be it ventilators or diagnostics. This is the Brexit talk. Should decisions not have been made in the best interest of the people that are dying?
On the other topic, I wonder which person this person refers to? But let me not go down to same level - I mean MrsLurcherWalker2 -

When next I have to go into public space, I think I may wear one.I see what you mean about the one-sidedness, but thanks for the link. I've seen instructions on how to cut out and sew one, but can't remember where now. I'll see if I can hunt it out. This one looks quick, simple and would be easy for a non-crafty person.I had a couple of 'builder's' masks I bought for sanding. Gave 1 to DD and wore 1 myself (with a folded tissue in it) when I had to give her a lift to the a medical appointment. I decided to give washing it a try, so I stuck it into the machine on a very hot wash. I was a bit dubious and fully expected it to have disintegrated, but it was fine. I did go out without it when I went for a late night shop, but think I'll start wearing it again.
I did buy a couple of surgical masks over a month ago but these days with the lack of PPE for health professionals like in NY I would not even try. They need it much more than I do.3 -
Mea Culpa, I really do think that the covid 19 is a big enough problem in life without adding in Brexit and politics. I'm isolating and doing what I can but it's such a BIG and for us probably final thing to get wrong there isn't room in life to worry about anything else just now.6

I went to the local Italian delicatessen today and they had a huge selection of pasta. £2 a packet so not too outrageous but nobody buying it. I wonder if people are shunning it because it comes from Italy?5

Someone mentioned to me (on the phone) that they were running out of pasta and tomatoes, but then remarked that they were from Italy anyway. I took that to mean that they wouldn't buy them if they were available.5

But you boil pasta and tomatoes come in a can that can be washed.4

Does that mean I can't wear my Schiaparelli? Cripes!5

To be honest, where I am I have seen plenty of fresh tomatoes in supermarkets and of course most peoople know the virus does not survive past a few days and looses its infectiveness after 24 hours in most surfaces. Perhaps we need to ship british tomatoes to the netherlands and dutch back here so we are sure? Just in case we do not believe the gov would have acted should there be any significant risk.
Oranges are the ones that are having supply shortage, I heard that spanish drivers have been naturally reluctant to drive long diistances and that is having an impact on supply and so prices.5 -

We are not lambs to the slaughter and as you say have enough to worry about. We should expect public health to be the absolute priority.
