Prepping for Brexit thread

I’m relieved that I’ve a good stock of foods in at the moment. I am needing to have (unpaid) time off work to care for family and am thankful that OH won’t need to shop for a while and that I can last for a few weeks with current stocks cos I’ve lost 2 weeks wages so far. This is what my stocks are for, and hopefully my emergency fund won’t need touching.Brexit or the Corona virus might cause problems or not but real life happens and being ready just makes life a little less stressful.

I heard people in china are being barricaded in their homes by their Neighbours against their will, with food lowered down in baskets, Apartment building are being barricaded to lock people in, Elevators are being disabled to stop people going out, And you can snitch on people to get masks. Its starting to sound like the lord of the flies over there.
I find that both credible & gruesome.4 -

Anyone who reads/watches apocalyptic fiction will find that completely unsurprising (if shocking). Fear drives people to do terrible, inhumane things, we are all vulnerable. All the more reason to have a good stockpile at home, just in case.

I read or watch neither and what relevance Brexit has to coronavirus speculation and voyeurism of barbaric acts from the safety of your own home is a mystery to me??? what I do have is feet on the ground common sense and a forward looking mind to potential problems here if and when Brexit is finally FULLY accomplished and completed. That's the reason for the preparedness in our house for Brexit so we can get through any times of disruption of the supply chain and still have cups of tea!4

Brexit has probably made people in the UK more aware of shortages and encouraged more people to stockpile, some of us have an advantage in compared to the continent. I'm glad I ignored the naysayers and followed my gut and prepped over the last 3 years.
Done a bit more prepping over the last week, buying paracetamol, tinned foods, tea bags, water.
The thing that scares me the most is the unpredictability of people when there's a shortage of food.Just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean I hate you. We need to understand this as a Society
Each morning we are born again, what we do today is what matters the most.

And a stock of cash is always useful too. I dont believe all the benefits of the cashless society the banks are trying to impose of us for their own convenience. Anybody been in a supermarket when all the tills have gone down because of a power cut?The only person who can walk out with any goods is the person who has a stock of emergency cash in their wallet!9

Which is why I tend to leave a modest stash in the car. Anyone nicking that has a larger problem to deal with than thumping a woman over the head & trying to find which pocket had the cash. Plus I've sent a son plus car key to go fetch the funds which widens the field for possible targets.4

Useful prepping recommendation is to have coin rather than notes because if you can pay the exact price you'll come out with change left if you only have a note you may find no change given.8
