More like Primrose that it was always going to have to be this way and he just didn't want the bother of having to say that!5

Haven't posted here in awhile, been giving Brexit a rest. Was sad last night but now we are into a new chapter so must make the best of it.
We still must prepare for any eventuality with Brexit as we don't know how the trade talks will progress, or if they'll finish in time (however I wouldn't be surprised if the talks do end up being extended, despite Boris saying they won't be).
Completely unsurprised at the turnaround by the govt re EU import checks. Boris hasn't been straight with us about anything, why would he start now?
Johnson (I refuse to call him Boris) actually had it written into law that we can't extend beyond December 2020. Although there's nothing to stop him passing another law to say that we can extend.
I've been using the supplies that I built up, although I still have an unfeasibly large amount of tinned food.
I will be watching events carefully as they progress. What we've had over the last 4 years was just the beginning. There is still a long way to go, and plenty of opportunity for things to go pear shaped, especially with the present occupant of No10. If necessary, I will start actively prepping again, but I will be furious, as it'll be for the third time!Early retired - 18th December 2014

Not good that "it'll be for the third time!" You should simply be rotating stock, not running it down so low that you feel you would be 'starting again'.
What would happen if a virus became wide spread in your town and it was locked down like in China's city of 11 million, 2 weeks lock down, cars banned.
I would expect the next year to be bumpy, and the Dec deadline could be very bumpy.6 -
Iceland's prices have sidled up. It's 3 sacks of beef mince for £8 now, not 4 for £10. It's only a few pennies and there may be another 10% off thing soon, but in the meantime grrr.5

I use a dodge to extend mince and that's to use some reconstituted TVP mince along with the meat, mixed in you just don't notice the TVP and it makes the mince you can afford go quite a lot further. TVP granules usually are very cheap in health/wholefood shops and even in supermarkets (Tesco used to sell but don't know if they still do) and you can add in as much or as little as personal preference dictates.6

I do similar MrsLurcherwalker. I also add red lentils if I'm cooking the mince before using it for example in bolognaise.
If I'm making burgers I tend to use just mince.

I’m not running ‘it down low’. If I was locked down tomorrow for two weeks without warning I’d be fine.
However, I don’t want to feel I need to build up two months worth of stockpile again. A few weeks worth should be more than enough in this day and ageEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Mea culpa - closer investigation reveals the iceland *leaflet* shows 3 @ £8 whereas in store the usual 4 @ £10.

And when I groused by phone with my beloved mother, she not only suggested TVP &/or lentils but reminded me of oats. She'll throw a handful in at an early stage & let them mop up the fat & flavours.
Now to find the lentils I have somewhere safe (truly the Bad Way to prep) & eye TVP suppliers.

A few weeks worth should be more than enough in this day and ageIts "this day and age" Thinking that will catch Most people out. I see 30 days as just a starting point really. But its a personal choice in the end.I heard people in china are being barricaded in their homes by their Neighbours against their will, with food lowered down in baskets, Apartment building are being barricaded to lock people in, Elevators are being disabled to stop people going out, And you can snitch on people to get masks. Its starting to sound like the lord of the flies over there. If the Chinese government had not stockpiled rice, grain, masks and even pork they would be in real trouble. Has anyone ever hear about the uk government having any meaningful stock pile of anything anymore?........................................................................................................................................8th FEB Total Deaths 638, Total Recovered 1,764Coronavirus 2019-nCoV Global Cases by Johns Hopkins CSSEhttps://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6......................................................................................................................................13th Feb Total 60,358, Deaths 1,370, Recovered 6,276......................................................................................................................................18th Feb Total 73,333, Deaths 1,873, Recovered 12,681......................................................................................................................................19th Feb Total 75,188, Deaths 2,008, Recovered 14,508......................................................................................................................................21th Feb Total 76,723, Deaths 2,247, Recovered 18,478......................................................................................................................................
