If you're British and you have a European husband or wife you need to face the dilemma of choosing a side.
If the Brit dies while the partner is not in the UK then the partner loses the right to live in the UK.
I'm not sure about the EU side. It will probably be more humane.
Not just abhorrent, but will make sorting the estate much harder. Especially if deceased was the one who did the bulk of the paperwork to protect spouse from the hassle.
It’s not man’s inhumanity to man that gets me, but the seeming calculated pettinesses that we’re demonstrably capable of. (I am blessed to have met with unstinting kindness but I can still fear for others.)
Right. Review stores lists & plan assorted shopping lists.0 -
This really IS 'grandma sucking eggs territory' but if you're going to stock up again check the dates on all your existing stores and make sure the newer stuff goes to the back of the cupboard and put the rest in with the shortest dates at the front of the shelves?0

Much intrigued, not least as it worked both to get her stocking up but also vertical for the first time in days. Loving sisters need to know...
I feel for your sister! I had that in summer 2018. Bl00dy awful! Took about 6 months to fully go.February wins: Theatre tickets1 -
Can't see what the issue would be in Jan 31st... Essentially it will be the same as always until July.
After that, I doubt there is any upside - and prob it will be a cliff edge in December.0 -
We will just have to wait and see, no one actually knows what will be or what will happen so we have to live through it as best we can and see what we're left with and then make that as good as we can. You can approach this from two sides you can give in, roll over, wail 'it's not fair' and wait for someone else to sort life out in the hope that you will find nothing or not much anyway changes and then your life will be 'as normal now' and if it's not blame someone else for it or you can say whatever happens I will make the best of it by my own efforts that can be made, no matter how much or how little I have I will use it and my own knowledge and skills to give as good a life as can possibly be contrived and I will live well even if it's different. I know which side I face it from.....0

Heck of a long sentence there Mrs LW...it would be easier to read if you could break it down a bit
Edit: I hope that doesn't sound rude, it wasn't meant to be.1 -

Short version - we can do nothing and let life drift while we moan or we can see what we have to deal with and get on with making our lives as good as we can - it's not a difficult choice.
Nice to see you posting again Mila, hope all is well with the family and that your delightful little granddaughter continues to entertain you with her comments xxx.0 -
Thanks Lyn
Mila How lovely to "see" you, oddly enough I was thinking of you a couple of days ago and wondering how you were! i hope you and the family are doing ok. How old is Quoye now?
It just occurred to me that you at least don't need to prep for Brexit0 -
Perhaps instead we should now be preparing for the arrival of the Coronavirus and a shortage of face masks if press reports arriving from parts of China are to be believed.
A shutdown of a province with no transport supplies arriving to the shops rapidly shows how an unexpected or rapidly moving crisis makes the provision of a good store cupboard essential. And who would previously thought to add face masks to their list of essential items ?1
