Euronorris sorry for random answer but just been holed up after my combined flu/pneumonia jab. You talking about your daughter and the mushrooms made me think about my 4 year old niece and her love of jarred herrings (all saltiness/vinegar drained off - but keep the capers!). Suppose it doesn't help that my family are Swedish my niece - (like her momma) is so tall for her age (I don't know specifics as have no children, sorry) and daddy is a ginger 6 footer. I got the 5ft 5 and 48kg gene...... I might go and have a Knackerbrod with some beetroot.... Happy days all.
Attempting £40 grocery only for the month of October.
    Let's see....

    :) Quite right, Lyn!

I've said so before on this forum but I genuinely believe that the fuss and muddle will go on to literally the very last minute. It's like watching people play chicken on the motorway, frankly. I expect that millions of us will be up til midnight on the 31st waiting for news of the deal. Not me, I'm far too much of a lark to be awake so late.....

    I believe the same.
However after Brexit day (whenever that is) Britain and the EU will still have to negotiate a trade deal.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

lol, no problem. She loves mushrooms, broccoli and beetroot. All of which she will steal off my plate when she's finished hers, if given half a chance. No bad thing I suppose. But, you know, if chocolate cake is in view, she'd still insist she 'wasn't hungry' to try and only eat cake! haha

ETA: You just reminded though, talking about herring, that someone ordered white bait as a starter at a family meal recently. And offered DD some to try. She LOVED it! Ending up eating half their starter! haha. I can't stand seafood, and not really a big fish fan, so she must get that from her father's side! lol

Euronorris lol it still surprises me everyday, but now I've taken an opportunity work wise and I don't know what's going to happen now there might not be any more herrings for a while.....

With the real danger of Dominic Cummings writing The Queen's Speech, I doubt they'll ever talk to us again

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

    If only cummings was going!

Meanwhile a practical question - is castille bar soap any good for handwashing delicates, and if so, how much should you use? The internets has lots of recipes for making up larger batches, but I only want to do a couple of items (pointelle thermals) and would rather make use of something I already have rather than buying another plastic bottle of handwash liquid. Would really appreciate any ideas :)

With all the refusals to do things by the current PM wouldn’t it be lovely if the Queen refused to read his speech.

    June NSD 8/15
  • The current PM and his cabinet picked up an unsolvable set of problems when they came in to power, the EU was already intransigent and had made up their minds to be unhelpful, the current MPs in the house are running round like headless chickens each chasing a different objective and there seems to be no way to change anything including actually talking to the other side calmly and with decorum. The shouting and blaming gets no one anywhere and the EU and Ireland being obstructive and static in their ideas does nothing to help the situation. None of these people are being held to account and they are all still milling in ever decreasing circles. The whole thing is farcical.

I'm sure if somebody threatened to drop a nuclear bomb on every capital city in the European Union unless a solution to this issue was found within 48 hours, minds everywhere would be remarkably concentrated !

When I look at the human species, I've come to the conclusion that animals are much nicer to deal with.

Is there any doubt that humans will eventually bring about their own destruction? It seems to be a race between destroying our physical environment or our community environment. I'm not sure which group will succeed first.
  • This thread my dear is about prepping in case Brexit happens. We aren't supporting it or opposing it just trying to find ways of making our lives less stressed should it happen. The place where Bexit is being discussed in all areas and not always amicably is over on the Discussion time Boards but you need a fairly robust constitution to take part in the discussions as people do not pull their punches in what they post.

    It's not for advertising either.
