I suppose social workers etc mean it matters more these days. Within your own gates though, the lads needs to develop her immune system...
Has she been introduced to helping do laundry?
She is a funny one. She likes to get messy, and then holds up her hands and asks to be cleaned! *rolls eyes*
I'm fairly relaxed about her clothes, 90% of the time, as the majority of her clothes are hand me downs from my sisters girls, and they do all sorts at nursery, including painting, so she often goes in 'not best' and already stained clothes. I only have one real exception, and that is an absolutely stunning dress that DH's auntie made for her. That is for best only! It's beautiful!
I don't think social workers are bothered by a little dirt, so long as hair looks reasonably clean etc, and it's obvious they're being washed regularly! lol
And yeah, she does help with the laundry. I let her load the machine, and help with putting the washing tablet and softener in (her accuracy is lacking at the moment lol). She is very keen to help with everything to be honest, and a very independent and stubborn young lady. Can't think where she gets that from! lol. But, it does mean that she could dress herself fully and brush her teeth well before she turned 3. Mostly because she will not let us help her anymore, and any attempt will result in a meltdown for 20 minutes, and then starting over. Much easier to just let her do it, and offer pointers when she is finding something tricky. She's just mastered buttons as well. So that's cool.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

My youngest DD was very independent from a young age. Even at 2 if I dressed her in something she didn't like she would just go and get changed. When she was 7 a neighbour told her off for biting her nails. "But they're my nails and I can do what I want with them" she replied. I was sort of impressed and sort of mortified. She has grown up to be extremely independent and no longer bites her nails but she does have to keep them short as she is a very dedicated nurse.
Really feel like pulling up the drawbridge today and counting my tins after the latest shenanigans, and the "No-deal readiness report". Makes me want to believe in reincarnation so I can come back in the future and see what the history books will make of this period of British politics. My fear is that it still won't be sorted then. Quite concerned for eldest's partner who is from the EU but has lived and worked here for some years but is now physically disabled. The "guidelines" aren't exactly easy to follow and as she also has ASD (as does eldest) it has caused them some anxiety. Feel I need to get to grips with it to be able to help them.0 -
Oh the outfit changes! I now limit her choices in the morning to two options. This or that. Otherwise she dithers for an age! And yes, I do quite like how strong and independent she is. But also despair, when it means she won't let me help her with her shoes and they are clearly on the wrong feet (for example)!
I'm a bit 'fingers in the ears' about the impending date, and what might happen. It still feels like it's all just a farce that will get pushed back again, or scrapped completely. So, until we get to that date, I'm trying not to give it too much thought, other than through necessity.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Thanks. It gets a bit complicated as due to the ASD she gets very overwhelmed and often just refuses to engage with anyone. I know they have another 12 months or so to sort this but if I mention it they both have a tendency to just shut down so I have to try to drop information I think they need into a "casual" conversation a few times and then they will tell me that they knew it all along.0 -
There is a certain amount of BRINKSMANSHIP going on from both sides, all we have is words so far and nothing is writ in stone except the rosetta stone and the 10 commandments. There is still time for wriggle room and possible slight changes of attitude before any deadlines however IF things do escalate to the point of a NO DEAL EXIT we'll have our preps in place and if we're frugal with what we have and make good use of anything fresh first we have chances of seeing out the period of adjustment afterwards relatively safely.0

Quite right, Lyn!
I've said so before on this forum but I genuinely believe that the fuss and muddle will go on to literally the very last minute. It's like watching people play chicken on the motorway, frankly. I expect that millions of us will be up til midnight on the 31st waiting for news of the deal. Not me, I'm far too much of a lark to be awake so late.....Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm buying Italian coffee by the ton, I can't function without it :eek:0

Himself wants to buy a replacement computer as mine's getting a little erratic about switching on. I am prepared to relocate my sewing machine & table to accommodate a chest freezer - but will he see things my way in anything like time?! <shrug>
Onwards with the preps & really clear lists. I may defrost the freezer Again to ensure I have the maximum space.0 -
I'm afraid I just can't see it happening ever so I'm not even thinking about it anymore to be honest!
I'm just concentrating on getting my stores and preps back to a level I'm happy with and teaching DS3 as much as I can regarding food prep and preservation.
We've been playing with bread doughs today and tinkering with some traybakes
I have a tiny bit of wiggle room in the freezer so hopefully I can get some freezer meals done for when Mum goes in at the end of the month..
Mar I wouldn't function either without my coffee I have doubled my subscription this month on a few things on Amazon coffee included0
