5 weeks to go everyone!
What a year! It's FLOWN. I was sorting out some papers earlier and all my statements over the last few years and I got pretty upset so I thought I'd come on here.
I've had two friends this year go bankrupt and another about to.
It's nothing to be ashamed of unless you've been a TOTAL idiot and spent it on drugs and gambling and even those are addictions.
The date for Twilight's been moved back a week but I have the 12.12.2008 booked off.
I have two things ready. A match and a bottle of vodka. The match for the paperwork and the vodka for me!!!
Hope everyone's ok. I am counting the days! xBSC No 60

Hi Loopy, the year has gone quickly. 12/12 is the date I wanted to go BR for sentimental reasons - it was the date that I opened the business that failed causing my BR! However I wasn't ready at that time so still have another 5 months to go but this past 7 months has gone fairly quickly.
You seem to be in positive spirits and not so ashamed as you were in the beginning. I'm really glad things have turned around for you. BE sure and come back on the 12th so we can join in your celebrations!

Wow! That really doesn't seem like a year!
It's great that the BR has helped you. Obviously not something that you wish for, but if you need to do it and it is the right thing it is not something to dread or be ashamed of.
As FYP says, make sure you pop back on the 12th, and take care.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hi everyone
I am new to this site and have over £55,000 worth of debt, alot of this is actually interest from credit cards and a loan with a certain bank who after setting up a debt management plan, demanded full payment of the loan (including what would have been paid back after 20 years even though I was only 2 years into it!).
Anyway I have decided to go bankrupt as the DM plan just isnt working for me and having stuck with it for 3 years now without any real sign of paying it off - and also after being told by the nice DM people that it will take me 20 odd years to pay it off in full(!) and to see any real change my credit rating I feel this is the only way forward for me now.
I have also been advised by the CCCS website to go bankrupt and have been informed by my DM company that my bank acc (which I got through them) is safe throughout bankruptcy & theres no need for me to worry as it wont be frozen or affected at all. This is a major relief to me but I am slightly concerned about my landlord being told - do you think he will be? I have only just moved into my flat in the last 2 weeks & am in love with it so dont want to lose it ?
I've read through your posts and have been touched by the support & helpfulness, its such a great idea. Loopy_Lou, you are an inspiration to me & have helped me realise that its not as scary as it seems and that its actually an empowering thing to do, so thanks for that! I hope my year of being discharged will fly by as yours has done too, although I cant say I am looking forward to being 32 lol ;-)0 -
I meant to also mention that I have a guarantor on my tenancy agreement, so do you think I will be ok with that? All responses will be gratefully received :-)0

Hi FLAYou will be better off posting a new thread. Sorry I don't know how to move it but if you go to the front page of the bankruptcy forum there is button that says new athread. Cut and paste the above there and people will be able to advise.

You'll get through it - it's terrifying but I promise you - you will be the inspiration a year from now
I wish you all the luck in the world. As everyone's told me. NEVER get credit again - if you don't have it - you can't spend it
I've managed just fine this year and you will, too
