Hi Everyone, another lovely day here (determined not to complain about the heat/humidity after the winter we had).
Foxgloves I hope your back gets better soon, I've done my back a few times in the past and know how much it impacts even doing the simplest of things.
Couple of things today;
- Checked Banks/Spreadsheets
- Transferred £1 from a dormant savings account to my current account, and closed the savings account. Another job done in my quest to reduce my financial chaos.
- Made lunch for work, using the homemade soup the WTB made yesterday
- Another NSD, on a roll with these
- Charge phone in work/drink the free coffee
- On the way home I need to withdraw £50 cash to put in the wedding saving envelope
Hope everyone is having a good day!Debt-Free Jan 2021 - My DFD post - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78007784#Comment_78007784Keep going, you will get there!0 -
*Yet more camera discussions with mr f tonight. He is having a new camera for his Big Birthday this year. Birthday not till the end of the year, but he likes gadgets so has been busy doing research. Naturally the camera he really wants appears to have just gone out of production & he reckons there are about 6 left in the country (?!?). I have said that if he defo want that model, then it is OK to buy it now, but that it will be put away for actual birthday. The replacement model is not getting such good reviews & he reckons it's made with cheaper materials. I have no idea as only take point & click pics on my phone. I do however, have a stash of vouchers saved up to use at camera-buying time & will use my CC to ensure more points for vouchers. Doubtless tonight will be 'Camera-related conversation #237'. Although he is now very good with money, he does like hobbies with kit. I may soon be forming a 'partners of the Camera-Obsessed' support group with Ally :-/
Pahahaha Foxgloves...we definitely need a support group.
Maybe Mr F and Mrs D should talk with each other...and encourage him to purchase through TopCashback or similar...DW's last purchase brought in £19 cashback.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Afternoon:)
I’m an ex-poster from here...it’s been a few years:rotfl:
But, I’m trying to cut back on overspending and really focus on my pennies (however few they may be!)
Here’s my list for today:
packed lunch to work for myself and dd2
meal from stores tonight - burgers with ys brioche buns, onion rings and whatever oven chips I can dig out from the freezer
minimal spends in T’s - few bits of fruit, milk and pittas
check on eBay listings
fill in spending diary
check onepoll
That’s all from me:TI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Welcome back pixiechick!
Well I've managed to miss another freegler. not my fault this time though. I updated my phone software a couple of days ago and it's played havoc with my app notifications. Poor chap was trying to get in touch and I just didn't know!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Ally Thank you for starting this weeks thread.
A late start to the week but I'm here now.
Yesterday we had a family day out. We had been gifted a family ticket :money: we took a packed lunch from stores :money: and bottles of tap water :money: used the park and ride which saved us on city centre parking. The only other cost was fuel to get there. I did look into train tickets but they worked out over £20, even with our rail card, so no competition really.
Today:
B/L/D from stores
We used up the leftovers from yesterday's packed lunch with lunch today.
We used up 3 different lots of leftovers for dinner tonight, I had hm lasagna :j
RM survey
NSD
Home educated children for free
dried washing outside in the sunshine
set dw to run overnight
Renewed library books
Requested a book for dd
Borrowed an ebook for myself, from the library
Children went to 2 different sports training today, both paid in advance, one of which we get double discounts on
On the not so positive front, whilst driving I caught some debris on the good and have put a huge hole in my tyre. Thankfully it happened less than a quarter of a mile from home. I decided to crawl home as it was so close, also the road is a busy dual carriageway, whereas I live on a quiet track, much safer. Unfortunately, I nor the children were able to remove the damaged tyre
I'm going to call the recovery people to come and deal with it tomorrow. I didn't feel the need to stay up waiting for them when I could be tucked up in bed. Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

I can officially say that DD is eating me out of house and home:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Spare stashed meals from slow cooker are being eaten from the freezer at a fast rate due to DDs locust tendencies where she doesn't put on an ounce in weight.
Puss cat is still in a zombie state and moving very slowly. She was sick again last night, will see how she gets on tonight, if sick again it is the vet tomorrow. She is still grounded:cool:
Banking all checked, refund has gone in.
RM items to do today, must buy cat litter and milk aswell
Cat cleaning needs to be done
Not quite sure what other plans are yet, meatballs need to be cooked that DD brought home, so dinner sorted for tonight.
Bathroom needs to be cleaned and have a small amount of paperwork that I have been avoiding.....alot:o
Welcome to the newbies, it is a great thread that keeps you on the straight and narrow
foxgloves look after that back, sounds very painful:(
Dawn good news, but it's horrible being poked and prodded. Hopefully taking it easy and pacing (I know much easier said than done) u will be back to full health soon.
Right better get a move on to get a good start to the morning.

Morning folks
Foxgloves and Dawn - I hope you're recovering
HK - hope that puss feels better soon
Feeling very zonked today - I was having a very realistic dream and I don't really know what planet I'm on now. Can't seem to wake up properly.
Today's plan:- B/L/D from stores
- Check Tesco direct sale for anything required - not surprised it's on sale. what a load of carp
- No alcohol
- Charge phone in work - done
- Gym at lunch time - done
- Start knitting socks. Again. Got replacement yarn from wool warehouse but it's a diff batch number to the other yarn and looks different. Luckily these ones do match though.
- Get some cash to put into the coffee kitty at work
- Water garden
- Washing out on line and washed at 30 degrees - done

Morning all

Babysitting shortly, so thought I would get on here while I have the chance. Shouldn't be for long, which is a relief as he is a bit of a grizzler and gives me no chance to do anything else
Was only just over an hour, quite happy to waste that playing with him
Feel a bit guilty as I used to look after his older sister a lot - but I hadn't just had an operation I guess. GD is four and a half now and I do find them much easier as they get older. She was an easier baby, too. I will be having him 1 day a week once DD goes back to work though - hopefully he won't grizzle so much by then!
Today's plans:
Strawberries from hanging basket with breakfast
One lot of washing out on line, another in machine currently Both loads dry and folded
All meals from home - I have roasted tomatoes out of the freezer, so will make tomato and tuna pasta for dinner, and there is leftover quiche for lunch
Done
Water anything in the garden that needs it Done
Clean bathroom floor Half done, swept but not mopped - ran out of steam
Did half an hour's weeding
Cut all spinach from a trough and discarded roots - it was being nibbled by something so time to get rid - only found a couple of tiny caterpillars when I washed it, they must have been jolly hungry, or maybe a bird had eaten their friends! Will resow tomorrow, I have plenty of seeds
Short walk with OH and the dog to the park
Spent some time sitting in the garden, to make the most of the lovely day
Not spent anything
