On Friday I took £400 to the bank :j theres another £100 to go in this week sometime too, plus another £80 something from other stuff, somthats more or less £600 but I'm still not sure how much of it will go in the savings and how much I'll spend on me

*drumroll*
As of 1st January 2019 I will have saved £3000. I'm currently £3 something short of £3K but the interest payment will cover that :j annoyingly, I'm up to my limit for what I can put into either account this month. That's not something you'll hear me saying very often :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm also trying to save for my first place. I'm late 30's, single, living in Surrey with an average paid job. I've got £74,000 saved so far for my deposit (£50k inheritage and £24k saved by myself) You'd think that would be enough but still not quite to be able to get a decent One Bed flat in an area decent enough for a single female. I'm moving a bit further out & further away from work to be able to afford something and I'm currently working 3 jobs. I hope to be able to get there this year. A few times I've thought I've been close and then house prices have increased, then last year when I was gonna try to start seriously looking we had big changes at work and I was worried about redundancy so I put it on the back burner and you guessed it, prices increased again. I wasn't techicallly made redundant but did have to move to another job in the same company and it was all up in the air. Hoping to be settled soon and try again seriously.
Will still need to borrow money from parents for a bit of furniture but fingers crossed!0 -

£3000  That's incredible Ditzy! Congratulations!! It's so easy for spending at this of the year to get a little bit carried away with itself but it sounds like you managed to keep it well and truly in check
Hope you have a wonderful 2019 :beer:MFW2023 challenge #99: £1090.11 / £1,000 MFiT-T6 (Jan 2022 - Jan 2025) challenge #99: Reduce mortgage to £400,000. Current balance = £413,551.19 Initial MF date (23rd Aug 2022): Sep 2051 Current MF date: Jul 2051 Last updated: 15/06/20230 -

For the second month running I've maxed out what I can put in both saving accounts :j :j
And a nice little bonus - apparently when I was little someone set up a non-profit saving thing for me that was supposed to mature in 2002 but I only found out about it a month ago. My cheque arrived a couple of days ago and while it isn't a huge amount, it'll help me max my savings for February too
On the flip side, I have a 1st and 70th birthday coming up so they aren't going to be cheap but I've budgeted for them and there is some extra money coming in from extra work so that will hopefully balance it outI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Hurrah for maxing out savings and also receiving the money from the account set up when you were a child. Hurrah.
Well done on extra money too. :j:T:DAiming for a minimal spend 20220
