I think maybe I have spoken too soon on the FLA, and looking through other sites as well its rare anyone is successful with these, maybe the odd few.

Would be good to know what the success rate is within using the FLA though, I imagine not a lot.

Like yourself Pinknico I have taken mine in the same direction as yourself, as like what Masmit said now, don't feel I have any other option really and its probably my last chance, but must hope for the best.

Even though it seems that the FOS have suggested the FLA to most where they are unable to deal with complaints, its quite mis leading really and I have even mentioned these to posters myself thinking they would get better luck than what I did, but I don't think its the case now.......

So what masmit have said its another direction, good luck to everyone in this situation.;)

hi all, nat it is not true about caravans ext they regulate personal & secured loans through different companies. these companies pay membership too the fla too regulate them. thats why their a waste of time with a complaint their onesided too their paying members.
there is a lot of conflicking advice on the forums about this & other things, i just wish people would spend more time looking at old posts too get a feel of the situation before giving out advice. their is plenty advice already posted.
if you google mis-sold ppi their are solicitors offering to take your claim no win no fee. if your going to beat these banks spend a bit more time finding out what your up against.
    good luck too all.

Dear Masmit, just wanna say thanx for the advice you put on the forum.I contacted the FLA and have not even had a reply so i followed your advice & emailed a solicitor that are no win no fee.Fingers crossed but i feel i have a bit of a chance now.THANX.:T

  • In October 2007, hads78 mentioned that they'd had a standard response from Direct Auto Finance. I've just tried to reclaim missold PPI for a car loan taken out in 2003 where I was told that the insurance was compulsory, the form was filled in for me and all "appropriate" boxes were ticked and I was just asked to sign the forms ... how stupid was I then?!:o I've received a response from them refuting that I was missold the insurance cos I signed the form which said the insurance was optional etc etc and that when I took out the loan it was before they were FSA authorised. I was just wondering if hads78 had had any success with their claim or has anyone else been successful in getting a PPI refund from Direct Auto Finance and could give any guidance as to the route I should now follow? Any help much appreciated because it is only as a result of dear Martin that I'm much more financially savvy and realised that I was totally bamboozled when I took out this loan ...

if your dealing with claims yourself & cant use the FOS these companies send you too the FLA knowing they will not help you. therefore expecting you too go away. the only other action is taking them to court yourself or by a solicitor. there are claims companies aswell, which i would not advise to use.
as i have said the solicitors are claiming their fees off the companies involved so you get 100% of your claim. so it is not expensive & you get the expert help needed.

    Hi Masmit

well done for this. I think this advice has been said time and again on here but I think some are unwilling to go down this route. That is up to them but if you are in a corner there is only one way out. So I quite agree with what you are saying Masmit.

The only real route of any significance in these cases is that of litigation. None of the supposed agencies there to protect can do anything or are prepared to do anything with the older loans.

There are very few lawyers out there that understand the issues sufficiently and even fewer that do not charge fees up front.

Having said that you are still able to take the lenders on and win.
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.
  • Has anyone used a lawyer and had any success ... any names of lawyers who could help or guidance or where to find such lawyers? I've never had cause to use a lawyer in my life so this is all totally new to me!
