just filed a claim online against ge money for a ppi taken out in 2000 as a lump sum. loan paid back 2002 but no refund for ppi. wrote letters, rejected, went to ombudsman, couldnt help, contacted f.l.a., didnt want to know so im going it alone! they have until 9/10 to defend or acknowledge claim, so fingers crossed they dont bother, but if they do then im prepared to go all the way. bring it on all you big financial institutions! have had phenominal success reclaiming thousands from other companies so have the courage to take 'em on!

    will keep you posted!;)

I am in the same boat with home shopping Redcats (brands) LTD not covered by anyone in 2000 when they added Account cover without being asked to.
Not members of FLA either, quite happy to go the court route but worried it is over 6 years ago and will be thrown out and charged lots of money. Was hoping as it was monthly paid might make a difference.

    DS2 13/07/06
    DD1 06/12/07
  • Pinknico, I have the same problem with PPI added without asking to my Next Directory account since 2000.

FOS are unable to help, so I think its the court route for me also.
LBM November 2005: approx £32K
    Current debt: approx £12K :T
Getting there one day at a time ;)

I have not - if you read my other posts, I have been arguing with them for a few years now about this. I've only used this thread, so it's all here. The last word from the FLA & Black Horse was that there was a tiny clause in the contract that said if the person starts self-employment during the life of the PPI, the cover automatically switches to something else. Keeping in mind that when we tried to use the insurance we were told our claim was refused due to self-employment, not because we didn't have PPI at all. They offered an arbitration process but said that the outcome would be binding, so if I don't get the result I'm hoping for, I can't take it any further or to court. I have tried to contact lawyers and companies on the internet, but havn't gotten very far.

Now, this is something that a few companies were fined over a few years ago. Some of them now put the bit about self-employment in bold, very clear, and in the summarised version on the application. I still believe I have a case against BLack Horse, but don't want to risk going it alone in court and losing. They've stopped bothering me now anyway. This has done untold damage to my credit rating which has made getting credit very difficult ever since and we have had to pay sky-high interest rates when we have taken out credit. That's the bit that I would like compensated, but know that it is very difficult to argue this point and I would need written evidence from a loan company that turned us down saying it was purely down to the default from Black Horse. None of the loan companies would commit to giving me this letter, although all confirmed it over the phone.

I've left it for now, but every few months or so it really irritates me and I take another step. The only avenue left is court, although according to an earlier post by someone else, I may be able to go back to the FOS. Next time I get angry that is what I will most likely try.

Hi. Yes your problem with them is different to mine...I was charged cash amounts for PPI that I didn't use (over £5k!!!) as opposed to trying to use the insurance and them kicking on it. I think I will just give up at this stage as I feel like I'm just wasting my time  ....thanks anyway
  • joemac1977, dont give up. none of these thieving companies was ever going to make it easy for us 'little people'. have faith in yourself, so many people give up but thats why they get away with it. they might be big, they might even be clever but they aint infallable.
  • Since Black Horse refuse to play fair regarding PPI why not see if the whole loan is legal. That's what I'm doing. Did not want to go down this route but since they have forced my hand I will try to get the lot back. Wanted to pay what I owed in full but if they wont play fair neither will I. Companies out there that will fight your case on no win no fee.

Where are these companies??? I have already tried Randall & Vickers who were the only one to take my case on and then dropped me like a hot stone(see my very first post: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=14377697#post14377697 )

    Can anyone help?
We took out a Loan and PPI with LL Processing (UK) Limited trading as Loan Line. After weeks of them ignoring us lots of phone calls they offered us £2000 then went into liquidation. The FOS said they can't help. Where do we stand, where do we go from here?
