I told him, and my two lodgers, that he can not stay beyond the weekend. That was made quite clear before he arrived. The paper trail is a good idea, and may well work to his advantage - Something to take to the local council to demonstrate that he isn't intentionally homeless. Her courage will change the world.

Time for another update..
We managed to find the young lad somewhere to stay temporarily (up to eight weeks) in a small town near by. A couple of weeks later, he got moved in to a hostel on a longer term basis, and from there, somewhere permanent (with any luck).
Got home one evening last month, and one of the two young ladies was complaining of pain in her arm accompanied by a feeling of pins & needles. Turns out her shoulder had popped out of the socket and then gone back in. The pins & needles suggested a trapped nerve, so quickly whipped her off to hospital. Five hours plus an X-ray later, swelling diagnosed that was putting pressure on a nerve and causing substantial pain. I loath A&E on a Friday night.... Always have to wait long hours, but it isn't the fault of the front line staff - They try to do their best with limited resources.
After a course of anti-inflammatory pain killers, the swelling has receded, and she is back to her chirpy self. Just need to keep an eye on that shoulder and make sure it doesn't dislocate again. Her courage will change the world.

Goodness FreeBear, you really are the Landlady From Heaven aren't you? I bet that you'll stay in touch with all your previous lodgers and end up being an honorary granny to all their children

Are you free to come and hold my hand on my next hospital appointment? you sound lovely!
You have family members you could call upon for hand holding duties ?
Just as well I did accompany the young lady to the hospital. The following morning, she found she had a facebook stalker. He'd heard her name called out in the waiting room, looked up her profile, and was trying to "hit on her" the next morning. :eek:Her courage will change the world.

So with Christmas only a few days away, we were sitting around the fire discussing the origins of religious festivals. Christmas being a derivation on the pagan Winter Solstice celebrations. I suggested that we should try to find a sacrificial virgin for the festivities - The comment in return was "Is that still legal ?"
Um..No... It has never been "legal".Her courage will change the world.

Time for an update...Since this lock down has been in place, doing the monthly food shop online has been impossible. Miss A has been worrying and fretting about getting food and her meds. Went out early a few days ago to pick up her prescription from the local chemist. Spent the best part of four hours queuing for it <grrrr>....Food, I've been picking up the odd few bits here and there when I can before going in to work. It helps that Lidl is still open when I leave off, so can pick over the remnants of their stock. We have both decided that Lidl fresh pasta is just revolting ! Until some semblance of normality returns, I'm cooking quite a few more meals for both of us, and trying to be <ahem> creative with the bare minimum of ingredients. As pay back for the meals, Miss A had a go at cutting my hair (it needed doing badly).. It will grow back by the time the hairdressers open up again. Her courage will change the world.

I've just moved to an online pharmacy who send medication through the post, tracked delivery straight through the letter box where possible.
If she has any controlled or fridge items check the provider can handle them as not all can, Superdrug who I'm with do (apart from being unsuitable for letterbox delivery, postie will have to sign) but Boots would only send a controlled item to branch for pick up.
First order can take longer, and like most pharmacies they are all busy so order in lots of time, Superdrugs current recommendation is 10 days, Boots in store are taking 7+ for Mum (two chilled items plus lots of other stuff, she feels isn't suited to online) so quite comparible.
I'll probably stay online after this is over, may move to Echo who can cancel an e prescription and issue a paper token for Lloyds if needed quicker, also I feel they have better customer support.
If I need anything in a hurry I'll just get GP to send to a physical pharmacy as a one off, then switch my default pharmacy back to online.1 -
I found a volunteer to collect my prescription from a pharmacy. The doctor's surgery told me where to ask, from the local council. Otherwise postage would have been £5.00. Hopefully I will get it through the letter box within two days.
@₩FreeBear, that was good of you to collect Ms A's prescription. Is she isolating?
I have a lodger also, although a couple would not suit me. And the room has a single bed.

It arrived in the post without any problems earlier in the week. As she doesn't go out much (for health reasons, rather than self isolating), it has saved both of us the hassle of queuing at the local chemist.Just need to sort out how we are both going to manage to do the next monthly food shop. Have managed to survive so far by grabbing a few bit & pieces on my way home from work. But for the heavy stuff like cat food, really need a home delivery service. On the bright side, got over 100 rolls of toilet paper (stocked up at Christmas, and got a jumbo pack last night) - That should last us a whileHer courage will change the world.
