Thank you, Valli, for the list, and Natty for last week. I'm in.
Lots of ((hugs)), ATB. Xx0 -
Thanks for the lists Valli and Natty x
I'm in again too!0 -
Hugs to ATB and Frodders. I'm fluttering about quietly in the background - yes unusual for me to be quiet I know, but not much to say really.
House reasonably OK as we had a friend round to dinner on Fri so had a blitz. Spending lots of time in the garden. Still trying to become a slinkie.
Lots of baby birds in the garden, mainly great tits, robins and blue tits - fairies must nest elsewhere. A large red kite sat in the tree at the end of our garden today.
Still got enough work to be keeping me busy.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
I'm here - thanks Valli :A
Thanks for your continued hugs and support - still trying to keep my head above water . . . . .
Consultant says a form of dementia - waiting for appt for scan to confirm. OT coming out to see Mum on Tues. Adult SS have a waiting list of 'a few weeks' !!!!
I'm shattered and finding it difficult to keep my temper when she asks me the same question for the umpteenth time, or doesn't remember me going round, or needs me to explain what it happening over and over, or argues with me about something.
Sorry for the moan but it's hard spending at least 25 hours a week with someone you used to see once or twice a week.
Huge hugs for atb and anyone else going through tough times at the moment. You are all amazing xxx
Valli - hope your knee is ok x
I have done zero flying in my house today but will attempt some in the morning . . .

(((Hugs))) Frodders. Being a carer is a tough job, no matter how much you love someone. It's not moaning, it's letting off a bit of steam, by the way, and you can keep doing it here for as long as you need to.
Jazee, I covered the cost and made enough money to buy a large quantity of handmade chox and a family size pack of minstrels. The former was put aside for special occasions and the second got munched with two mugs of fruit tea - no progress on the Slinky front but on this occasion I don't care. I met a lot of lovely people, realised I can set up a stand in about 30 minutes, one litre of fruit tea lasts three hours of thirsty work, and dismantle it in 20 minutes, all of which bodes well for the future. It was worth it, just not in a money-making way which is frustrating. I do wish people who organised these things understood that their job is to get the buyers in, not just sell the stands.
All plants watered, three loads through the WM and lots of lovely sewing done.Better is good enough.0 -
Not been around/flying because Himself managed to plummet into a massive downer and anxiety attack pretty much all week and it was all I could do to get myself to and from work and through the day with no food.
It probably didn't help him that not having any food made it darn near impossible to be able to deal with him sympathetically, but I just didn't have the physical wherewithall to make it to the shops, so spent the week on diet shakes, black coffee and barely suppressed rage - which came out three days in when I finally flipped out over the state of the house, the lack of food and his expecting to spend most of my week off the other side of the country with no guarantee of being back before I'm at work again when he couldn't even manage to change his socks for five days after he took umbrage at my nice suggestion that I cooked three nights a week and helped him get the hang of cleaning up as he went along.
Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm a bad person. And I spent two hours on the phone to a mate, some of which was venting about this - without realising he hadn't actually got his headphones on whilst he was watching crap on his laptop, so probably heard almost every word through the wall.
In any case, I am refusing to get stressed about it - I've not said anything that wasn't true, I wasn't mean about it, I was blunt only after offering to help deal with the practical issues. As he hasn't been doing them and can't handle the suggestion of working together without going all emotional about how it's making him feel bad, I think it is only reasonable that I do something about the state of the place, as it won't get sorted by further indulging him and waiting for him to get around to doing it.
Over this weekend, I have therefore;
Sorted my clothes into Stuff I Like and fits, Stuff I have to have and will sort out later (socks, undies, etc) and Stuff That Makes Me Feel Scraggy. The final category will be going into recycling for next Monday, as the bins are full.
Done 4 loads of washing, drying and folded the flat sheets so they should are like sheets instead of dishrags.
Washed the bathmat.
Scrubbed the downstairs bathroom floor, cleaned the loo and worked out that I need to lift the shower drain to clear it properly (it's badly made, so airlocks and frequently fails to drain).
Chucked away all loo roll inners, packaging, Himself's contact lens packets, bleached both loos and cleaned the bath. I've been hiding in the bath of an evening away from him, so there was a lot of bubbles and water marks on it.
Found out where all the towels were, folded and put them together.
Hung up dressing gowns.
Picked up his clean washing off the bedroom floor.
Cleared off the bedroom windowsills.
Cleaned the TD & WM inside and out, bleached and scrubbed the countertops, cleaned the hob, scrubbed the sink, done seven sinks' worth of washing up properly including rewashing his last efforts and done the satisfyingly ewww moment of running a cocktail stick along the various joins.
Put all the various jars and bottles away.
Cleaned the table.
Watered the cacti and aloe vera.
Got rid of the council flat bin - snobby, I know, but I resent having a seventy quid kitchen bin ignored in favour of a carrier bag hung over the cupboard door handle eight inches away from the bin.
Taken all the recycling out and sorted it into its various crates.
Put all plant pots outside on the racking.
Cleared up some junk from the patio.
Rearranged the throw that had fallen off the settee.
Moved the coffee table and put the now unused cat bed in the cupboard for when Idiot Cat decides it's a bed again.
Watched a massive thunderstorm yesterday night.
Himself finally emerged this afternoon at about 3pm and decided to vacuum the upstairs and sort some of his clothes out/hang them up.
I then made them fit better in the wardrobe and turned them so they all faced the same way and could double them up with the little hooks on the hangers. And emptied a small set of drawers that aren't big enough to be useful to me, so Himself can have them in the studio - if he decides he doesn't need them, I'll use them for storing makeup.
Had the Idiot Cat happily using my hand as a chew toy because I smelled of bleach.
If I'm lucky, Himself has remade the bed with clean linen I put on it earlier. And he eventually went out and got us some food, which he cooked in the newly clean and organised kitchen.
And tomorrow, I intend to;
Empty the wardrobe of all the shoes that hurt my feet or are worn out. Which might leave me barefoot, but there's no point in keeping them.
More washing. I will get to the bottom of the linen baskets.
Persuade Himself to clean the kitchen floor after I've cleaned the cupboard doors and the fridge & freezer and put the bags of compost outside.
Clean the upstairs loo, sink and floor.
Learn about twenty songs for the two days booked for the band in rehearsal studios on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Remind Himself that my saying I am not going across the country for five days for one rehearsal and a twenty five minute gig does not mean that it's perfectly fine for him to withdraw from doing anything else for over a week and then disappear for five days to do the twentyfive minute gig because he doesn't want to catch the train by himself and prefers to wait for a lift back.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Morning all
Long time no see
Well DH starts his new job tomorrow:j after 2 years of being off sick. However, the house is like a pigsty as the house work was left to him as he was at home and I was at work. He has done the basics - cooking, washing up, laundry, hoovering but that's it! Where places are cluttered he just said it's your stuff or I don't know where it goes even though if he had just put stuff in little piles it would have helped and no it wasn't all my stuff. Anyway, needless to say there is a lot to do and we're now both going to be working full time so most of it will probably fall on me at least at first. Sorry that ended up being a bit of a rant.
I also have a portfolio to finish for my course which has to be in Thursday. We have also had another dog, some of you may remember my other one went to the Rainbow Bridge last year, the plan was to have a 2 year old rescue, we ended up with a 6 month old pup! She's now 7 months old and chews everything which is another reason the house needs sorting as she keeps pinching everything and chewing it up.
We are going to one of the local BH markets today but that's about it I think. I'm going to sort the fridge out as my first job as some of the salad stuff is past it's best!
Sorry to hear about your mum Froddy - hugs x
JoJo - you've done loads and you were right to have a good rant. Hugs x
Have a good day all
Hugs
