Welcome Pixiedust!
Have you tried any of the plans before? I don't follow Weight Watchers or Slimming World etc but there are lots of lovely people on here who can help you choose a class. I am following a low-GL plan which is one step on from GI basically and is pretty straightforward. I'd be happy to tell you more if it'd help but perhaps a class is better for you at the mo.
Stay with us, we can definitely help you!The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hi Pixiedust
I use the "Calorie Carb and Fat Bible" ( on amazon) and willpower. I am not one for slimming classes preferring to do it myself. The book is great and helps you set your calorie intake in relation to your present weight. ...No need to beat yourself up over 1000 calories per day for example.
I have also just started going to the gym, referred by my lovely gp so that I get reduced rates for 20 sessions making it more accessable.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do Pixiedust!
Bails I thought i would be stiff yesterday after my second gym visit but all seems well. I did reduce some of my exercises a tad on Wednesday.I Off again tomorrow so I will do the full programme....0 -

...Pixiedustand welcome to our lovely thread. Well done on joining an aerobics class:j , lots of folk here use SW, WW and RC (as jules has just said) but a lot of others have just done it alone; but whatever you do just make sure that it's a plan that suits you and your lifestyle...
...I love lemon cakes, and prefer citrus based cakes and desserts to those made with chocolate. I make lemon syrup cakes but they're not for a forum like this, sadly...
...Suggs What prize does Lois get for being the first to post? If it's a night with you I'd have hung around...

Morning peeps:D another thread wow:j :j
Last night we had some sad news, a friend of my H, his little girl is very over-weight for her age of 10, docs have been trying to deal with her weight but her mum is the poor child's worst enemy feeding her sugar laden stuff all the time, anyway....last night the poor thing was told she is now diabetic, such a shame, so avoidable, that is a true example of how not to feed your child, I feel desperately sad for the poor little thing, so innocent in all this, I know what it is like to be diabetic and it is not always pleasant and at such a young age, mine was a lot older....
welcome pixiedust
suggs glad to hear you had a fab time0 -

Victory, that's terrible about that little girl. You must feel like shouting "I told you this would happen". Now she has a life built around an condition with possibly the greatest degree of intrusion and self-responsibility of all. Great parenting, they must be very proud :rolleyes:0 -
so was Cairo erotic then Suggs?
hee hee
did you see any tombs or anything - I've always been fascinated by that stuff- my friend did her MA in egyptology and I did a bit of reading with her. we all know egypt is old but i didn't realise how old - When Cleopatra was travelling the Nile Egypt was already ancient. I have a great book which is mini biographies of people from ancient egypt, not necessarily famous ones, but people there is info about. One of the chapters is about a correspondence between a chap who has gone to the city to work, leaving behind his grown up sons and his new (considerably younger) wife. A lot of the correspondence is about how he will disown them if they dont get their acts together and get proper jobs, and how they'd better start showing their stepmum some respect or they'll get a beating when he comes back. People don't change very much do they?!
thanks for the sample menus guys, will try to stay good . . . .0 -

Was it erotic? perhaps, was it exotic? of course, do they walk like Petrichors suggestion?? Not that I saw
Dont know if anyone uses https://www.tripadvisor.com when travelling/holidaying I used it loads for this trip and it helped lots. I am going to write a trip report and post it there, so if your interested let me know.
In short though we saw in three days - Great Pyramids and Sphinx, Egyptian Museum, Felucca Sail Boat on the Nile, Dashuar - Red and Bent Pyramids,Saqqara - Step Pyramid,Memphis, Khan al-Khalili bazaar, Sound and Light Show, Coptic Cairo – Hanging Church and Saint Serguis Church, Islamic Cairo – Ibn Toulon Mosque and Sultan Hassan Madrasa, Al-Azhar Park
It was the driving that amazed me, three lanes of traffic with 5 or 6 rows of cars driving along it all darting in and out of the tiniest of gaps, horns going all the time, constant noise, heat and sand. To sets of traffic lights I saw in three days, but in a city of 18million people, the traffic rarely ground to a halt. Crossing the road was a challege as the cars stop for no one and I mean no one
Thats one of the facts that amazed me KPC, that Cleopatra was around and Cairo was already ancientThe city of Memphis was one of the former capitals, but there also seemed to be a lot of incest going around amongst the Pharaohs to try and keep the bloodline going?
Anyways I better do some work. I did weigh myself today and loads has gone on, all artifical I guess, as I couldn't possibly eat that much!!! Not sure what prize to offer Lois, but Petrichor, if you want my special prize, you only have ask.Proud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

bails, is your lemon cake really okay to eat? I mean is it still 'healthy'? As I am on a healthy eating plan and I don't usually eat anything sweet but your cake sounds really scrummy as I love almonds! Good luck for your meeting too!
Hi pixiedust, I am one of the 'going it alone' gang as I can't afford to pay for online SW etc and I am miles and miles from anywhere that holds meetings anyway. My DD and I have bought smaller plates from charity a shop and eat healthily as much as we are able. We also menu plan so don't get tempted by unhealthy bargains. It might be difficult to do that in a shared house so good luck in whatever way to try to lose weight.
suggs , sounds like a great holiday. I looked up some of the places you mentioned. I don't have foreign holidays so I can enjoy my virtual holidays by looking at places on the internet. Sad but true!
I made a huge batch of mince based meals yesterday to freeze for the men in the household who are all so thin they need building up and I have made two soups this morning, veggie for me and DD and whoever else wants it and a ham and lentil for the boys!business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
