We had originally booked BA/GB to Faro from Heathrow. BA advised transfer to Gatwick due to GB takeover. When Easyjets flights came out luckily for us they fly to Faro from Stansted which is easier for us, so I rang up BA and cancelled their flights and got a full refund very quickly.
I suppose this might have been because they changed our airport though.

My understanding is that anyone who wants a full refund of their GB Airlines flight is going to be able to get one.

  • Having (reluctantly) agreed to our GB Airways flight to Mykonos being taken over by Easyjet and accepting Easyjet's terms and conditions (as per an e-mail request from GB Airways), I now discover Easyjet have introduced an additional flight one day later, at over £100 cheaper! I wish I'd known about this then I could have asked for a refund and rebooked.

Incidentally I notice that for some of the ex GB routes there is not the option of speedy boarding - perhaps there will be assigned seating on these particular flights?

When you get your email from Easyjet it will tell you that due to a computer problem you will ALWAYS get a cancellation message from BA - this is normal.

However, Easy have set up a freephone number specifically for the BA transfer issues

    0800 612 7279

So I would call them and just confirm you want to transfer to Easyjet.

    POSSIBLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION

I got my new Easyjet ticket last night, and noticed that although my wife and I were on the ticket, my daughter (an infant) wasn't.

I thought that, since Easyjet allow infants for free - whereas BA charge - maybe they don't write the infant's details down. But thought I'd check anyway, and they said that it was a mistake and they'd issue a new ticket.

So check your ticket to make sure everyone transfers across!
