having no allocated seating means if god forbid they crash it would be very difficult to work out who is who !!!
its when you have paid for a service and not get it i'm cross . I did my homework and compaired different flights and rates and decided that paying the extra was worth it.
now we are in limbo land where we are being fobbed off and they've got out cash!!0 -

After an accident airlines do not identify mortalities by the seating plan. Reason for this is that even though seats are given they are not always adhered to I.e. If you have a party of 10 friends, they may just take up their 10 seat block, and not actually sit in their named seats. Or crew may have to re-seat passengers for a number of reasons.
It is not a reliable enough system to make that decision, getting it wrong could have awful implications in an already terrible situation.0 -
On what basis are you declaring that easyJet has low standards? Have you ever flown easyJet? If so , and you think the standards are low , why are you talking about rebooking?
Yes I have flown Easyjet, upto Scotland.
Perhaps low standards was the wrong words, really should of been low quality of in-flight service. compared with GB airways/BA. e.g. No meals, no drinks service, no free on-line check-in etc.0 -

Musicman you have to accept that all of the above are not 'free' they are inclusive in the BA price and (dependent on how far in advance you book) some. If you're travelling on expenses then it would be BA everytime because you would benefit directly from the 'extra's', if it's your own money then 9 times out of ten you're going to save a lot more than these are worth to you. Comparisons have to be on a like for like basis to be valid the only thing people should not compromise at any cost is safety. I have no problem whatsoever with Easyjet's safety record and actually I've felt worse with the state of some of the GB/BA planes I've flown on.:beer:0 -
I've compaired my rates to egypt with the charter flights as there are no low cost carriers and gb airways was either the same or slightly more by £5. For the extra it was worth it for on-line check in drinks decent food extra leg room and extra luggage allowance all make a flight over 5 hours a bit more bearable
easyjet/ryanair are great for short flights but for more than 4 hours........
the low cost carriers have done wonders for the cost of flying but what really annoys me is that no-one is telling customers what is going on where they have our money and what we can expect in terms of service.
We have paid up front for a service as well as a flight and probably only get the flight! and no refund in the difference0 -

The thing is, the owners of GB Airways sold up for a reason. One imagines that in their market place and pricing, offering the BA level of service just wasn't financially viable or cost effective anymore. I doubt they'd have got rid if they were running a very profitable company.
They are telling you what you can expect in terms of service. The easyJet service for all flights after 30th March 3008.
Trouble is you paid for a service with a company that won't exist anymore. The company taking over the operation are offering you their service, or a full refund if you are not satisfied. I fully appreciate its not an ideal situation, and sympathise with people who are not satisfied with easyJets service. But look at it another way. Lets say GB Airways couldn't have found a buyer and ended up going bust. You'd be in a far far worse situation.0 -
BTW some of the BA flights operated by BA are now available at BA.com to Faro Malaga Gibralter Ibiza Palma Tunisia.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Why does everyone say easyjet are cheap?
I fly to Rhodes twice a year.Once in the summer and once at xmas via athens and Easyjet have always been more expensive than BA.
Next summers flights have been booked 12 months in advance with GB but I will certainly be asking for a refund and flying Olympic Airlines instead.
The Olympic flights are £75 more but to be honest thats probably the difference in when I booked with GB and now as we all know the prices go up the nearer to the time you get.
Sorry but why would anyone go through all the Easyjet hassle to start your holiday?I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Though you can still book this flight on BA.COM, and there is no mention of the flights becoming Easyjet, so if you didi not know that GB Airways had sold out, you could even upgrade your flights!!!0 -

Exactly my point Musicman. There isn't any mention on the ba site when making a booking only that the flight will be operated by 'GB airways' with a ba flight number.
We'll just have to sit and wait until they sort themselves out which I would think will now be well into the new year.
