I hope you don't catch it too but if you are vaccinated most people say it is just like a cold. It is the isolation which will be tough for you though but great the night sitters will still come.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Me too but it’s relatively unavoidable since I’m feeding mum and sorting out her needs
my hands are washed out , I’ve got the window ajar just to try and keep some freshness in and I’m masked up at all times downstairs
I do have a headachey cold but I’ve had that all week and tested negative on pcrs so there is nothing new there
it’s quite common for me to be addicted to sudofed during the winter months
my sister sounds terrible but told me on the phone she is only taking paracetamol so As I needed to go out to get some medication for mum I dropped her some lemsip max , left it on the doorstep
it will be just my luck to come down with it just as the house is due to be lurgie free so if I’m gonna get it I’d rather sooner then later
I have at least 10 days before I see NM anyway as I need to be sure I haven’t picked it up before I see him0 -
yesterdays test is negative
mum wasnt too bad yesterday and was quite alert , managed to get some protein yoghurt , ice cream and cake in to her and plenty of fluids
running a bit of a temp but paracetamol sorted that
today looks a different story , shes quite vacant and jaded but has been drinking water
We got a night sit last night , thankful we can still have these.
Single carers which isn't ideal but due to covid we are on a different path so i'm having to help out more.
not ideal when trying to avoid the virus but it is what it is.
our usual carer has text me to ask how mum is which is lovely of her.
Hoping sister is out of isolation soon so she can stop me having to be downstairs quite as much , am keeping the window ajar and trying to do what I can to keep ,mum safe and comfortable but minimise my risk
my hands are red raw where I have washed them so much so I was glad to see my delivery of latex gloves arrive.
cooked up a big chilli yesterday evening so at least i have something to go to for myself and will try and tackle my room today as its a bit chaotic and as im stuck here I may aswell
need to pop to tesco to get some liquid paracetamol for mum as the tablets are a little tricky for her , carer is due back around 11 so shall try and do it then.1 -
sister still positive , i'm still negative - starting to see the affects of the virus on mum now.
Just been for another PCR test , the centre being at the top of the road 5 days a week is an absolute god send.
Mum was still eating yesterday , today nothing and she is incredibly sleepy and docile , i can only keep putting sips of water in to her and checking her temp.
I'll see if she will eat a little later.
my hands are so dry.
had to send my neice to the supermarket as mum was trying to get up and getting what nasty about it , told her if i didnt help her she would kill herself - not nice to hear but not worried about her actually doing it as she doesn't have the means
£15 spend as my neice bought the most expensive batteries in the world !!!!
Starting to get really bored , the house looks like a bomb site but i'm trying not to spend time downstaris which isnt essential - if i were to get this as bad as my sister it throws in further problems with mums care.
nurses due in today so will see what they say0 -
See what the nurses say today. If the house is untidy this won't help your frame of mind. Is your mum upstairs or downstairs? Good that you are negative still.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. the nurses werent much use , mum said she felt short of breath ( her breathing seemed fine ) I asker if she should check her oxygen levels and she replied " and what would you expect done about it if they are low "
I do need to do a bit fix up down there but i'm reluctant to be down there any longer then needed0 -

I hope it isnt her that comes back on wednesday0 -
Another day of this madness.
Mum slept most of yesterday , spiked a temp a few times but got some liquid paracetamol in her, she ate some ice cream and a bit of protein yoghurt , am using baby weaning spoons ( thanks amazon) as she doesnt open her mouth very wide at all.
A week since this virus invaded our house , I'm thankfully still negative , long may it last , if there is a god he will not inflict this on me and give me another 10 days in this house - I truthfully am going rather stir crazy. NM is a bit lost too , hes not complaining but i know he is counting down the days too. We need to do something nice when we are allowed too ( we are now but i will not take the risk)
Need to try and get out and pick up a "in the best interests" letter from the dr's just incase i have to call paramedics....................mum wanted me to do yesterday as I would not take the shoes off her feet which she was not wearing and am not looking after her enough.
Got to let this stuff go over my head
our usual carers have been checking in on mum , one called me and said its so important that my sister doesnt blame herself and in all the households she goes in to she has never seen anyone give as much as I do , she said she hopes if she ever gets sick her children do for her what I do for mum - It was nice to hear it and that she see's it , I often feel invisable amongst this sorry mess.
Bank is looking very healthy , should be able to clear last months xmas hangover credit card from decembers salary and all being well clear the tesco card from Januarys wage , I'd like to get the tesco card gone but I may just do half and give myself some breathing space on it as the 0% finishes in April and as long as it is done by then I'm happy.

You have made massive sacrifices to care for your mum so no one can accuse you of not doing enough. I agree with the nurse that your sister must not blame herself for passing on the virus. The alternative would have been you doing everything alone or your mum go into a hospice or nursing home.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
