    Is the headspace app good?
My anxiety seems to be bad at the moment.

Definitely sounds as though you're in a more positive space CCL - long may it continue.

  • Beanie - there are a lot of sessions you can access for free on the Headspace App if you wanted to give it a try. I'm a member of Anxiety UK, and my membership there covers full access to the app. I really like it - it's helped a lot with my sleep and now I'm working through the self esteem stuff. I'm willing to try anything.
So, I've woken up this morning to a load of snow outside. There is nothing I would like more than to just stay in my jammies today and snuggle up in front of the telly, however that really isn't a choice for me today... I have a tutoring session at 11 then I've arranged to pick ds up in town later this afternoon. He's been at his dad's overnight and they're off to football this afternoon.
Had a bit of a conversation with ex last night, to try and move things on a bit. I have no idea if it will work, and it was difficult but at least I have done it. He reckons he's overwhelmed with the amount of paperwork he needs to do and isn't deliberately trying to be awkward. I said that he would need to bite the bullet and get some help with it from someone, but who knows whether that will happen.
Also had a minor disaster in the house. A couple of the cats were chasing each other around the living room, and one of them knocked my wax warmer over - down the side of the sofa. It's completely covered in wax and I have no idea how to go about getting it off. I've hidden it under a blanket and am trying to pretend it's not there. Having spent a fortune on the bathroom floor, walls and pipework followed by needing a new fridge there is no way on the planet I can consider replacing the sofa...
Yesterday was nice, but I was tired by the end of it. Went round the shops for a couple of hours with bestie - I'm confident that I'm just about done with Christmas shopping for the kids. Just one or two things left to get, which is a relief that I've managed to sort that without completely breaking myself. Then came home in time for me and ds to get our hair cut. After ds had gone to his dad, me and dd finished watching a box set on Netflix. No sign of any school work but I did get the budget done. Scary budget - it prompted the awkward conversation with ex because I really need that new, reduced mortgage payment in the short term...just until I'm not paying the solicitor a massive amount every single month.

To get wax (like candle wax) out of fabric you need.
    Brown paper (like parcel paper)
    An iron
    a scrapey thing

Scrape off the worst with something non cutty - a fingernail, blunt side of a butterknife, small child etc.
Put brown paper over wax, put iron on low, gently iron - it will melt and stick to brown paper. Move on to clean piece of brown paper. Repeat until it is gone.

Also works wonders on carpet wax spillages.

    Hey CCL
My recommendation for the wax would be to scrape off as much as possible from the surface then cover with brown parcel paper and iron over the top. The paper should absorb the wax. This will work if it’s a parafin/candle wax.

If it’s beeswax, you could use eucalyptus oil to dissolve it. Tea tree oil is good too but would be a very expensive option. Or go to a branch of Sally’s and get the wax cleaner that beauty salons use, which would probably be most cost effective. Failing that, surgical spirit should do it, which you can by at any chemist.

Beanie - another one who gives Headspace a big thumbs up. Worth a try. My sister hates it and I love it, so I guess it's a little like marm1te...

I can 2nd the 'pick as much as you can off' then iron & brown paper method. I once had a similar accident over a pure wool peruvian cardi & I got it all out.
Had a silly accident myself 1st thibg, CCL, lost my balance putting a sock on, grabbed at the heated towel radiator & it came away from the wall!! Thankfully mr f managed to fix it or that would have been more expense.
Good luck with it.....but do pick as much as possible off before you get the iron out.
