Making food for kids who turn their nose up at it is totally soul destroying and would make anyone wonder what the piddling point of it all is.
Luckily 5/6ths of us usually like everything. So there is only one rotating dissenter at practically every meal, and that is why somebody invented the sandwich (or the 'just have a s*dding sandwich then'). It is beyond upsetting, and then when you ask them what they want to eat this week, you just get, a whatever, I don't mind. Yeah right! Just like a fussy cat. Will eat it twice and then change their minds.
Fabulous news on retired mum
Brilliant news on the crochet
Much relief at you putting the No! into the Norovirus.
Prolific Ac gives cash payout at £5 and Valued O can be cashed in for £10 supermarket vouchers, if you wanted to sub the food budget to the legal budget. It does eat into the crochet time though.

I've never had corned beef pie but I cannot imagine how anybody wouldn't like it. Don't suppose someone would care to share a recipe? Do you think we pander too much to children these days? I grew up on what my granny gave me (mostly home made soup) and you just weren't allowed to say you didn't like/want it. Anybody else have tea biscuit sandwich? That was one of her more bizarre concotions to save money.
My son was not exactly fussy but only liked plain food until he got his own place. Quite the little cook/gourmet now and refuses to spend any more money than is absolutely necessary. Shops at Aldi and freezes anything that's left over. Maybe one day, CCL.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
It's really easy Toni'sfriend. Just a load of mashed potato, with a tin of corned beef mixed through it (chop it into small squares then mix) - make into pie. It's very, very straightforward. Corned beef pie and pasties are very popular in the North East and dd was devastated when Gr3ggs further south didn't sell a corned beef pastie (but she won't eat my pie).
DS asked me to leave him mashed potato without any corned beef as apparently I make good mash. :eyeroll:
My mam seems a lot better than last time I saw her - but she says she's not sure what to do with her time. I expect she'll find loads. She's already bought a load of wool from me from my stash to make a blanket - another £45 to my legal bill :jNot giving up

How long do you cook your pie for?
Sounds nice & easy.
I am so not a good cook.
Or do you just do the mash & add in the corn beef & ta da?

I`m a Waspi too but have no illusions that anything will be sorted out. Which is why I have guests and sell on Ebay!
I`ve been doing polls too and can recommend Populus Live who pay £50 ito your account once you`ve reached 50 credits. All good! I`m currently at 42...
I`ve waded through some of the other survey sites and also think One Poll is good. Yes it pays out pennies but it mounts up.
Hope you have a good week. Is there anything you can sell on FB Marketplace to boost the legal fund?0 -

You can have just the corned beef and mash, which is what I ended up doing last night because I couldn't be faffed with the pastry. As it's all cooked when it goes into the pie, the cooking time is just for the pastry really - about 20 mins I think but I'm sure one of my expert readers will help. My oven is ancient and has its own unique way of working so cooking times for me are very specific.
Found £10-84 towards the legal bill, leftovers from exam marking that I just need to move into the current account. So I need £5.16 - and I have a piggy bank at home that might just have that in it if I'm lucky. It is amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it isn't it? Kind of gives me hope for when I start paying off my thousands of debt. Not giving up

Cooking meals for the family used to be soul destroying, as there were so many meals the children wouldn't eat, one doesn't like potatoes the other doesn't like food in sauce, neither will eat corn beef hash, plus various other foods one or other won't eat.
For 3 nights a week it is just me and the children as OH works away from home. We had all ended up in a huge rut, both OH & myself were frustrated, the variety was lacking.
We were fortunate that 14 months ago my parents moved in for a year whilst their new house was renovated. My Mum is a good cook and happily shared the cooking bring fresh ideas with her and they have always eaten better for Grandma, adding to the frustration. At least when cooking for 6 if 2 people are moaning they are the minority :rotfl:
The variety has increased, need to keep this up now my parents have moved to their house.

It means a lot to know I'm not alone BB. Tonight has been more corned beef hash for me, chicken burgers for dd and hot dogs for ds - see what I mean? No wonder I can't be bothered with any of it.
Just home from work - got a bit busy there after lessons finished tonight. Homework club, then helping ds with his homework followed by a cold and wet commute home. There are lots of Christmas decorations up and about already - feels too early for me but ds is enjoying them.
The January exam marking contracts are out. I've been offered two and really hoping my head of department will let me do both. Fingers crossed. I don't think he'll want me off school for 4 days but I really want to do it so will ask him very nicely.
Now for a bit of crochet and a very early night. I had a rubbish night last night - kept waking up feeling warm and uncomfortable so I'm worn out now.Not giving up

CCL do I recall that you got them to come up with a meal plan that they both agreed on earlier in the year? maybe thats worth trying again and put the onus on them more which will also help you? maybe they could take preparing a meal each 1 night a week....
fingers crossed for the exam contracts x- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted
