Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 3 - A New Beginning

PS
As naughty tortie is back to puking at regular intervals I have her booked in at the vet tomorrow night for her steroids that stop it. I will be asking for flea advice from the vet while we're there. Not giving up

Flea treatment from the vet is much more effective than the stuff you can buy over the counter, and not that much more expensive. Still a nasty shock to have to pay for it for multiple cats though :eek:The vets know what to prescribe with regard to local issues with immunity etc. The spray they provide for the environment is more effective too, as it is licenced to only be supplied by qualified vets (a bit like prescription only medicines). Hope you get it sorted. It is a nightmare, we used to get them when we had cats. The dogs would only ever catch them from the cats (actually called 'cat fleas', there are dog fleas but you would only expect to see them in kennels type situations). I used to lecture on this stuff in a previous life.
My dog actually has a tablet (from the vet) once every 3 months for fleas, and he has never had any problems. I don't know if this is recommended for cats though.0 -
My dogs have a tablet that controls fleas for about 3 months. Not sure how it works, but it does!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hope you manage a better nights sleep tonight CCL.
Also, what flavour is your gin?0 -
Hello
How can it be that I was in bed an asleep before half nine last night, slept until about quarter to six with only 2 nighttime disruptions and I still feel rough? I am starting to suspect a physical ailment of some sort - I am stuffy headed and a bit dizzy and can't really concentrate. Touch wood though it doesn't seem to be the vomiting virus doing the rounds that has actually closed a number of schools locally because there were so many staff and students absent. I don't understand.
Didn't get much done last night either - the gin is still soaking up lovely fruity flavours (blackcurrant and pear this year Speky), cats are still whingey, crochet is still undone. Just the hoover through as stated on the flea treatment.
I am taking naughty tortie 1 to the vet tonight for steroids so am going to ask there about the flea situation. They have all been flea treated with the stuff from the vet, at a cost to me of £84(please bear in mind we got the cats when we were a 2 income household and I would no more consider getting rid of any of them than I would consider getting rid of any of my children), plus I asked about the spray for the house there and was given Indorex which cost £24 - and I have since bought a second can off from Amaz0n for £15. I suspect I am going to have to buy another month of flea treatment for them a little early... I used to have a monthly plan at the vet but cancelled it in among divorce proceedings to save money and as that's still going on I can't really afford to take it back up just yet.
Speaking of that - there has been news back at my solicitor from the DWP. Progress, albeit slow. Hopefully by the time of the next court date on 7th Jan there will be some definite stuff to report one way or the other. Maybe he'll even turn up at court on that date - who knows?
So it looks like tonight is going to be another unproductive one - by the time I get home from the vet and sort dinner out I will probably be ready for my bed. I do need some grocery shopping though so may have to extend to an online shop at Mr S.Not giving up

I've previously been recommended zinc and magnesium to help get a more restful sleep CCL (in the form of zma tablets) might be worth a try when you have some cash

Well you know what, CCL? I wouldn't exactly call a full day of teaching plus commute, then taking your cat to the vet & cooking dinner 'unproductive'. There's a natural limit to how much extra you can get done on these short dark evenings anyway, so I don't think there's any need to think you have not been productive. I woke up at 2.20 this morning. For some reason I thought it was 5.30 & had been willing myself not to fall back to sleep as the alarm goes off at 6.00!! When I finally looked at my little clock & it was 2.20...... really feeling tired now. Sounds like we could both do with an early night!

£119 at the vet. Naughty tortie has gained a little weight (this is excellent news) and I got another month of flea treatment for all of them. The good news is that the vet thinks we're on top of the worst of it and that it should be on its way out. She was also very reassuring that we're not a bunch of mingers with scratty cats and that fleas have been particularly abundant this year. I was offered 3 months single treatments for each of them but that was going to cost almost £300 so a complete non starter the month before Christmas.
Very kind of you to remind me that I am a busy bunny even when I feel lazy foxgloves. I honestly don't know why I feel as though I have to be on the go all of the time but I do. I have grabbed a bite to eat, had a shower and am just relaxing a bit. There's lots I could be doing but I just am not feeling it - my brain wants more rest so I think that's what I'll do.Not giving up

Oh Blackcurrant and pear sounds brill! No need to feel guilty when taking some time to yourself, as you absolutely do deserve it given all the spinning plates you have.
