I had a pyjama day! :j
I feel quite relaxed, and I have watched a lot of OITNB while the kids have played together for the first time in years. I cannot believe it actually but they both dug out their Pok!mon ds games and are playing beautifully. I feel like I've crocheted non stop but I still have 5 more rounds of the blanket to go...
Got lots of frogs dealt with - sorted the energy supply out (£77 a month which is better than the £98 the current deal wanted), decluttered 2 days worth of items, made appointments for 2 of the cats at the vet (tomorrow) and.... I have made an appointment to have my eyebrows done next week. It's all a bit scary but I have to take a risk to expand my comfort zone a bit.
Got sausages and bacon out of the freezer for tomorrow - I'm going to do us a healthy 'all day breakfast' I will eat everything there, but the kids will be more picky than me. I don't care though, I have eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and bread so it will be a feast. I have my local veggie box coming tomorrow as well so I'll see what he brings and make sure that it doesn't go to waste if at all possible. I suspect that I will have chard though - and I never, ever know what to do with that.
Other than that, all is quiet, and I like that. Not giving up

I treat chard exactly like spinach (I grow both together, only really bother with chard becasue it is so pretty
). So it gets used for whatever I use spinach for. A spinach and feta filo pie (really easy, uses bought filo pastry) or added to pizza toppings, curries or soups usually, depending on how much I have ready. If you don't think you will use it in time before it goes off, just wash it, chop it up and freeze it. No need to blanch it, and you can use it from frozen.

A lovely relaxing day blended with ticking some things off the list. Harmony. Forgive me if I've missed it, but how is DS getting on? Wasn't he unwell recently?0

DS is good thanks for asking Speky. He was in hospital for 4 days in the end, and he's now just waiting for a referral to a specialist because there's been no apparent cause for his kidney not working properly. God knows when it will be but I'm starting to suspect that it's going to be once we're back at work and school. He seems to be back to normal, but I do have to continually remind him to keep himself hydrated.
I did get chard Dawn - 2 massive bags of it, so thanks for the tip. I think I will freeze most of it. Also got a glut of courgettes and 4 corn cobs amongst the usual. Courgette on the menu for the foreseeable future. I've put a sausage, bacon and bean casserole in the slow cooker and am looking through my recipe books for further inspiration.
Also did another shop at Mr S - only 5 days after the last one - I have no idea where my kids put it all. We just needed snack stuff, and a few household bits. I spent enough money to use my £9 voucher and I got ds his school polo shirts as well. Obviously I didn't need anything of my usual ingredients as I have fresh veg and meat in the freezer - just bread and milk etc.
The 2 sickliest cats have been to the vets today - just for regular check ups and medication. Both have lost weight, but appear in good health - so it's possible that the weightloss is down to our continued attempts to help the two fatties lose weight. The tuxy cat had her pee checked and her kidneys are working fine still, and her coat is good. Naughty tortie was very lightweight - mainly because she puked twice before we went to the vet so there was literally nothing there. Good news overall
Popped to the beauty place for the patch test for my brow tint next week. All fine so far, but I'm quite nervous about how I might look by the end of it. :rotfl::rotfl:
So, I'm just about to head off for a tiny nap. I was woken at 7am this morning, by my ex tutee with his A level results. He got 2 B's and a C - the B's for his sciences and C in maths (so I'm pleased at how well he did for me), but even better than that he's gotten onto the course he wanted at uni. So a day of celebration for him - however I am now quite tired as it was past midnight when I went to bed last night. I think a 10 minute power nap should do it, but I am literally going to scream if this giant blanket is looking at me, unfinished, for much longer. Not giving up

I'm doing that as well to try to use up the mountain of food and other ingredients we have. it's quite fun.
I'm dying to hear how your brow tint works out. I was thinking of having my brows done and my eyelashes tinted as my eyesight is deteriorating and I'm struggling a bit with makeup. I don't wear it as often as I used to for that reason.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
You sound so on top of things.
Really recommend a decent brow wax or threading and a tint if you are pale or greying. I think it really perks my face up and love the effects after the pinkness of the threading wears off. I've had mine done at a couple of places near you but tend to get them done mostly when I'm down in Birmingham as I have a large voucher for a concession in Selfridges that I'm working through.
I wonder if we walked past you in the Swedish Store as it seems we were there at the same time. How funny to think of all us MSErs in the same place unknowingly.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Hi Friend Catlady,
I was going to post this recipe on my diary, but I'm putting it on yours instead in case it's helpful.
Mr F & I both think these are yum! Nice sizzling hot with sauce or chutney.
EASY COURGETTE FRITTERS
450g courgettes
50g parmesan or reggiano type cheese
2 eggs
4 tablspns plain flour
Salt & pepper
Oil for frying
A clean tea towel
Beat the eggs a bit with a fork to break them up. Grate the cheese. Put both aside while you sort out the courgettes. Top & tail these & grate them coarsely. Put them in the centre of a clean tea towel & squeeze out as much liquid as you possibly can. Then tip into a bowl, add the cheese, flour, a little salt & pepper and the eggs. Stir together well.
Pour sufficient oil into a frying pan to cover the base & heat. Drop about a fairly generous tablespoon of the mixture into the oil & fry about 3 mins per side till browned & crispy on the outside.
I've only recently started making these & we were both surprised how nice they are.
Anyway, this might be helpful, but no worries if not.

Well, Foxgloves, if Ccl doesn't want the recipe, I do. So thank you. Have screen shot for future use. They sound amazing. And I think Pickle would like them in a picnic lunch.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)
