You can bulk them out with grated carrot or sweetcorn, or even shredded chard. Very versatile recipe (sub gram flour for the g/f or even the egg free - dried chilli flakes are fab in them too) and I must say my kids love a courgette fritter when they would usually only dance with a courgette.

    I missed the drama!

I have no idea how your BiL would have reacted to my boys and their willy waving antics, naked trampolining, sword fighting, or french kissing. Sorry you were feeling carp, but after your 'full disclosure' post you seem to be :

    * bonding with dd over makeup

    * planning on tweaking your diet
    * improving the space you live in
    * deciding to get out of the mindset you were in, and are embracing change - both physical, domestic, and psychological.

Well damn! get you. I was only gone 12 days, and you go first class, hotel suite, London trip and you have a summer holiday to look forward to in 2020 and Dog has a lead (sorry) as xh pops up onto the radar again.

Hope you love your new eyebrows, I love a brow/lash tint, but have not had one in 5 years. It is on the list.

    - Can I ask if you have mirrors in your house? Funny question I know, but I find it much easier to make an effort, when I can actually see myself. Just when you mentioned being in the house of Swede, I remember my easiest weight loss was after I redid out first house for sale, and was very canny with mirror use for making darker/smaller corners and rooms much brighter. Weight fell off.

  • The giant blanket is finished!!!! It has taken me a fairly solid 8 hours of crochet today but it is done. It's massive and I really hope that the friend that asked me to make it enjoys it. I now need to get on with stuff for Christmas in amongst the 2 baby blankets I need to do as well. I am running late this year - I feel tempted to try socks again but I lack patience with the dp knitting needles and can't get the hang of the circular ones. Time to trawl through some of my mags for inspiration.
I haven't been out of the house today (again - this had better not turn into a habit). The weather has not been suitable for going anywhere so it was a good opportunity to get the crochet done. Kids have been happy enough on Xboxes, ds, phones and we all watched a film together at lunchtime. I've been a bit fuzzy headed for most of the day as well. It's been a day of nothing much but crochet.
Thanks so much for the recipe for the fritters foxgloves - I'll definitely make some. I am getting round to making another batch of the smoky tomato chutney at some point very soon. Also need you to remind me how much sugar to add to my gin when I'm making fruity gin for gifts if you don't mind. I am thinking between 300-350g but the other recipes are very variable and I followed your instructions with great success last year.
It's really good to 'see' you back f0xh0les. Your summary of my past fortnight has really picked me up. I try not to wallow for long, but I am now thinking that I might be doing too much at once for it to actually stick. We shall see. The diet thing is always a struggle but I never, ever give up. The makeup stuff is all new. I haven't had an allergy to my patch test so the brow and lash tint will go ahead as planned on Tuesday morning... the new me continues. I'm pleased that you don't think there's anything wrong with my ds behaviour - boys are somewhat of a mystery to a lot of people in my family as there are lots of girls and only 2 boys (and the other one is very quiet and reserved) so it's good to be a bit reassured about it all.
As for mirrors, yes but not full length ones. Mostly down to trying to avoid seeing what I look like - however we do have one now thanks to dd. It may still be some time before I can bring myself to use it though.
It's already heading towards bed time but I have a couple of things I intend to do before I head off for the night - shower, get my crochet mags out of the loft, wash dishes and put the rubbish out - not necessarily in that order though.

Well he did something inappropriate, you have dealt with it, he now knows it is inappropriate = good parenting. That is it over with unless it happens again.

It is heaving it down here, and it did all day yesterday too, so I am taking a very sensible leaf out of your book and am staying in. Very MSE:money:. I nearly took DS1 into town, until I realised I am off my head this morning on the anti-Bs and am not sure I could walk in a straight line - hence I am not driving today. Plus parking in the city centre is free on Sundays so will venture in tomorrow when the world stops wobbling.

  • I'm talking to everyone - even folk that don't want to listen to me :rotfl:
Well, the strangest thing happened today. I stayed up far too late last night. Went a browsing for my crochet magazines and found no less than 5 projects that I have started and just not finished. On top of the 2 baby blankets. So rather than find new projects it would do me a lot of good to complete the ones that I've already started. I must have thought that they were a good idea at the time.
Anyway, that's not the strange thing. I stayed up late, and I slept pretty late - after 8am until one of the cats started properly whingeing for breakfast. So I got up, made a cuppa, settled in front of the telly with a baby blanket crochet thing and prepared for another day doing nothing in front of the telly. But then... I wanted to clean some stuff. I noticed I could hardly see through my living room windows, so I cleaned them. But then I thought there was no point in cleaning the windows without cleaning the blinds, and therefore no point cleaning the blinds without washing the curtains. So I did it. Some proper housework. I don't know what the hell happened to me. And then while I was on I did a minor repair to the curtain rail that was on the frog list, and scrubbed the living room floor. I actually don't know what came over me, but I know it only comes over me once every couple of years so normal service will resume tomorrow.
Not only that but I agreed with ds that I would make Nadiyas croissant cheesecakes for us all to try, as well as the courgette fritters. So to get the daily quota of exercise (WTAF???) we walked into our town and to L1dl to get some frozen raspberries and croissants, and a bag of crisps ds wanted.
I have no clue what has happened to me during the day but it definitely won't last - I hate cooking, and cleaning so I made the most of it while I felt like it. In amongst all of that I've made reasonable progress with getting a baby blanket on the go (half way there as Bon Jovi would say) and watched 3 episodes of OITNB. It's been ok actually.
The only worrying part of the day concerns one of my very good friends who is approaching suicidal again. I've been very worried about her for months, but she rang me this morning asking me for any reason at all to go on. I spoke to her for over an hour and helped her come up with a plan. There's lots going on in her life, but the one thing that seems to be the overwhelming stress factor for her is the state of her house. She is a hoarder and has lots of pets - I know it must have gotten bad in there because she hasn't let me visit her at her place for over a year. I think it's beyond stuff that she and the kids can do on her own so I have told her that I will find a professional company to come in, declutter and clean the place. She's worried about cost but I think I've convinced her that her health (and possibly her life) are worth whatever the cost is. I think that if her home became a nice place for her to be again then she would feel less down about being there. I've started looking into it and think I'll be ringing a couple of places on Monday.
Also - my ex suddenly sprang up on Faceb00k earlier. I was chatting to someone else and saw my ex as online, and saw that he's seen the messages I've sent about court, and about ds being in hospital. I'm annoyed but not surprised that he hasn't had the decency to at least send a message back about ds. Grrr.
Anyway. I'm going to watch Casualty now and think about what a productive day I've had and forget the stressy stuff.

What a brilliantly productive day, CCL. And good of you to help your friend tackle her hoarding too.
