I just wanted to say things aren’t much better at my school either. (Also North east Science). Also had an argument with my HoD about extension questions in marking. Left Friday in tears. I think its the nature of the beast to make us feel inadequate. Yet they wonder why there is a teaching crisis.
  • Sounds super productive CCL well done!

And get you being all MSE and DIY!! Very impressive.
  • I am trying REALLY hard to not be wound up by work.

    God it is hard.

Just dropping in to hi really if I could string proper words together I would finish my lesson plan and by finish I mean start.

    XXX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Very quick check in as it's already bed time.
Another busy day. I find it reassuring that others feel the same as I do, although really disheartening that education is in a similar crisis to nhs, police etc etc. Blimming government, and austerity. I should be rich, and not stressed.
So, full day of teaching and no sign of the Head. More minor disagreements with various people and my generally feeling useless and rubbish at my job. Came home as early as possible, as dd had picked up her youngest cousin from school as a favour for me and my sister. Long story but my sister and her hubby have just separated, and we're helping out where we can. Got home to find dd had made them both sandwiches and they were watching Alvin and the Chipmunks on Netflix. I'm so proud of dd :D
After my niece had gone home, I got straight on with some exam stuff and have been that way for most of the evening. I'm happy enough (as I'm at home) and just about to go to bed. However, there are 2 things I now need to buy... 1 - a microwave. Ours is on it's last legs and I'm starting to have safety concerns, but there's no way we can manage without one. 2. DD wants a headboard for her bed. Fair enough but no idea how or where or what. Further research required.
Anyway - off to bed now. Have a good one all.
PS Rebecca - are you fully staffed in your dept? We need another 2 science teachers desperately, and there just aren't any good ones about.

  • How nice of your DD. She must get that kindness from her Mother. Hope today is a bit better in work.
  • Hello :hello:
I'm pleased to report that my mood was quite a bit better today all in all. I'm still very disillusioned at work, but way less upset by it than I was. I now am in 'don't care about it' mode. The Head did try to come and see me twice, but once I was teaching and the second time I had ds with me (he walks to my school after he's finished school in the afternoon). He has promised that we are going to sit down for a coffee and a chat either tomorrow or Thursday morning at the very latest. I don't know if I need to now, but I think I should probably discuss it with him anyway - I know some people don't think it's appropriate to be that honest but I think you might as well be honest. Used my free lesson to finally get my reports written, so that's a massive frog crossed off the list. Busy after school doing a bit of tutoring. A favour for a friend as I really didn't want to take on any more tutees. DS went to my friend's house while I did that, then ds and I used some of the money I'd earned to grab dinner on the way home (and I have change so still made a profit on today).
Got home just after 7 and had the quickest of all quick showers in time for my telly night (EastEnders, Holby, Shetland), and found the sodding NEWS on the telly at 7.30 :mad: Sodding news! AND they cancelled Holby. I feel like writing in a complaint to the BBC because I'm SO fed up of Brexit and missed my telly. I did an hour of exam marking instead and am just getting ready to go to bed, and hopefully feel ok again tomorrow.
No crochet done tonight - no time in the short term.
  • Cannot believe I actually forgot to post money related stuff that has been going on today - just forgot about it all in amongst all the busy work related stuff.
I was defrosting bread in the microwave yesterday, when I noticed that the turntable wasn't spinning. Had a look, to find that the wheel has dug a rusty little trench in amongst all the other rust in there and the microwave is officially on its last legs. Decided to investigate the cost of a replacement and have decided to 'splash out' a little. The exam money is trickling in and I'm very reliant on my microwave. I've gone for a flatbed one (no turntable) that is also a combi oven and grill. I have no idea in reality what this means, but as my cooker is also on its last legs I thought it might be an option, and as we are a small family it may also be an option. You never know - I'll have to research it more. I did research the best deal for the one I wanted, and got it from Mr A - to be delivered within the next week.
Also got home to a £50 gift card from bee tee as I have renewed my bb contract with them - that will be used on groceries I think to replace the cash I've spent on the new microwave. The mse ways are slowly trickling back in again. I've been PADding like a mad woman to try and clear this credit card off so I can focus on paying my mam back.
  • Our MSE ways are deeply ingrained and it doesn't take much to bring them to the forefront again.

Hope the overdue chat with the Head goes well.
