I bought a mp3 player from amazon.co.uk on the 10 Feb 2007 . It has broken what are my rights?

What do you mean by broken? If you meant something faulty and not accidental damage then contact Amazon and they should replace it. Depending on the cost of the MP3 player you should be covered for at least a couple of years under the Sale of Goods Act."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I turned the volume up on the navigation panel i then heard a little click in the player and it went dead. So i then tried to turn it on and it will not do so at all. It was not accidental damage its a mechanical fault.0

You're entitled to a repair/replacement then. See what Amazon say first. If they point blank refuse to do anything then you can drop a mention of the "sale of goods act". I'd imagine there may even be a manufacturer warranty in addition. There's an article by Martin on the act on this website."She is quite the oddball. How does this sound peeps:
Please can you authorize a return for the above order number . I purchased the item on the 10th February 2007 , the mp3 player has now incurred a technical fault and will not play at all. The mp3 player is under the manufactures guarantee . Under the sales of goods act 1979 the player I purchased is supposed to function for a reasonable amount of time. 8 months use for a mp3 player is not reasonable use and should have longer longevity.0 -
Before getting in a huff. have you tried resetting the player? Charging it up? I would hate to rush to post the thing only to find that the batetry was dead!0
-
nope its well and truly dead plugged it into the usb and nothing happens , plug it into a usb hub and nothing. It wont turn on and it was also fully charged in the first place i had just charged it.0

Ok, just check with the manufacturers web site under FAQs, just incase you have to hold one of them buttons to do a full reset.0

I wouldn't go quoting SOGA straightaway.
Just send an email saying when you bought it and that it is now not working, and describe the fault.
Amazon are pretty good (was it from Amazon as opposed to one of their marketplace sellers?), you should not need to go 'formal' with them xGone ... or have I?0 -
