Just managed to transfer the interest from one account to another and now I have a frozen dark screen- can't do anything - including log out and that's been for at least 10 minutes. I assume for security reasons it will just shut down, in its own time!!!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I managed to get £37 compensation. I didn't really need to get it because I wasn't using the account and it had 0.00 anyway. So I reckon that's fine for me.

Website and app is all ok now, Website is still sometimes temperamental, But to be expected.

What exactly were you compensated for? If you had no money in the account and your weren't out of pocket as a result of the online account issues, then why did you feel that you were entitled to compensation? If the situation is as you describe, then you have some brass neck!

Well because my friend transferred me money on the friday of the upgrade and I couldn't access it till Monday, Even though they told customers for weeks it be 6pm on Sunday.

Plus it's free money. If you don't ask, you don't get. Simple. I asked and I got.

Great for you and well deserved. You have effectively got compensation for inconvenience. I will get compensation as well.

The guy I spoke to, Kelvin was quite decent actually. He wanted statements of calls logs and for me to prove I was inconvenienced. But we settled on £37 meaning he didn't want any documents sent in. The £37 was in straight away, Then it was transferred straight to my Santander account :)

Plus I used the fact the CEO said customers should be entitled to compensation.

Simple answer...read the MSE email weekly email, where it it advised people to claim for inconvenience.

Please remember that TSB are at fault. Not people for complaining.

Just got back into my TSB to go through my statement and have noticed a couple of things

Withdrew £100.00 from my PayPal on April 16th, not showing up on my TSB transactions so it seems to be in thin air at the moment (is there some sort of time out where it will just end back up in my PayPal account?). A £200.00 withdrawal from PayPal since on the April 25th did go through successfully.

Also I have a standing order on the 15th of each month to pay into my Halifax Help To Buy ISA, that doesn't seem to have gone through for April.

So a bit confused at the moment! Day to day card use and cash withdrawal seems fine just those odd glitches!

Do you remember the last major bank IT failure / hack attack?

Yes, when NatWest/RBS systems failed and people didn't get paid and couldn't get their money.
    EachPenny wrote: »
Has that bank changed their name?

No, but maybe they should have done. RBS was rumoured to be dropping the RBS moniker because it had become toxic, making NatWest their sole English brand and using their full name, Royal Bank of Scotland in Scotland. This would divert attention from RBS's troubles (not just the IT ones).
    EachPenny wrote: »
Do people constantly talk about how terrible that bank's IT is?

People in general don't, but I bet those people who didn't get paid on time do.

In a couple of months most people will have forgotten. Those that haven't will probably be switching away regardless of any rebranding.

You may well be correct, but I think it depends how long this mess goes on for.

The TSB brand has a lot of recognition and loyalty,

It has a lot of recognition, but I don't think it has much loyalty. The old TSB did, before Lloyds took it over, but the present TSB isn't the same animal and most TSB customers were simply allocated to TSB when it was created, they didn't become customers because they like the bank, or out of loyalty.

but that what does Sabadell have in the UK? ...some contributors to this thread weren't even aware Sabadell owned their bank.

That's precisely my point. A new name could be presented/passed off as something different, and people would be quicker to forget the past troubles. Changing the name to a foreign, brand new bank, didn't do Santander any harm.
