Hmmm. TSB paid out all that money in incentives to get people to open current accounts with them.

The 5 quid cash back incentives for having 2 Direct Debits and and for your using debit card 20 times in a month ends in a few weeks. A lot of the people who opened a new account in the last 18 months will be switching again.

    This from the Guardian:-

TSB’s chief executive Paul Pester has FINALLY commented on the IT problems that are gripping his bank.

Pester has tweeted that he’s ‘deeply sorry’ for the mess, and revealed that TSB have decided to take their online banking system offline!

That’s an attempt to fix the problems created by last weekend’s migration to new IT systems.,

That means that TSB customers are going to face fresh disruption today.

Pester has also pledged that no customer will be left out of pocket -- which sounds like a promise to pay compensation to anyone who suffers financial damage from his fiasco.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I have been thinking for a while about closing this account, as the perks have all expired.

I have two current accounts and a regular saver (mine is paying 3%, the rate has now dropped to 2%). I will stay with them despite this fiasco. £3K instant access at 3% is probably no longer possible anywhere else.

They should have rolled back to the old system on Sunday night when the transfer failed.

Probably too late to do this now.

Look on the bright side, there should be some good TSB incentives coming up when all the babies have flounced off with their TSB account money.

Its a temporary glitch, albeit disastrous PR, why anyone would leave this bank following this debacle I don't know. Its not forever. Once the new systems are up and running and bedded in it should be OK into the future. If not then yes leave.

Maybe the thread could be re titled TSB planned outrage:)
  • I wonder if this is affecting branches as well as online?
I don't have a TSB anywhere near me to ask.
  • Well, I'm going into my branch this afternoon to obtain paper statements and check whether telephone banking is working.

I'm presuming that it's simply the new software they are using to talk to their systems, that is a crock of sh*te, and the actual underlying processes/systems are unaffected.

    We'll find out.
