  • Nice long soak in the bath had combined with a deep conditioning of my hair, a defuzz, tidying of toenails and body moisturiser.
Feel a bit better now about my weariness over the past couple of weeks, hopefully things will settle down now and I'll feel less like a whirling dervish and more like myself :)
I need to look after myself properly - eat better, sleep more, cut down on the wine and make sure I exercise. I'll collapse in a heap otherwise....

I'm quite pleased with myself as I've just fixed my Fitbit - the strap was broken and it wouldn't stay on but after a fight with some superglue it's as good as new :) I like to know how many steps I've done in a day and we're not allowed to have phones on our person at school so I need the Fitbit back on to track things.
I'll pack a lunch later in my new little lunch bag - I'm not on a diet as such but just making more effort with food.

Little victories for today - used up shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and soap before starting new ones, eaten up bits from the fridge rather than throwing them away, found some chicken lurking at the back of the fridge for the dog, found stationery for my office in work in a box I'd tidied over the summer saving me from buying more.

Just as an aside, I've been watching Manhunt Unabomber on Netflix - it's really good and I'm really enjoying it. My latest fad ;)
  • Been over to see a hungover and tired OH for a couple of hours - he's best left to it ;)
Have walked the dog again, sorted out my lunch and work clothes and have a face mask on and tidied the kitchen and bins. Just settling down with the Bodyguard and then bed - it all starts again tomorrow ......
  • Bit of a manic day at work with literally no time to do anything apart from one quick wee at lunchtime! Ended with an SLT meeting but thankfully it only lasted an hour and a half.
Came home, popped to the doctors for my repeat prescription and took the dog to the park and bumped into an ex colleague and had a good chat while her daughter played with the dog. Lovely to see her - forgot how much I missed them all in the madness of the new job. She's invited me out - will do my best to make it happen, I need to keep in touch. Another friend texted today to see how it was going too - nice to be thought of :) I have a habit of getting immersed in what I'm doing and neglecting other things so I'm definitely going to try to make more of an effort.

Had a lovely tea from the vegan shop - lentil Dahl and organic naan bread , really tasty and a nice change. Will definitely be going back.
Just had a soak in the bath and listened to a motivational podcast and then, inspired, cleaned the two bathrooms from top to toe and gave the downstairs loo a going over too. Used up a couple of almost finished cleaning products and bleach so a bit of decluttering done in the process.

Going to write a list of work things that need doing this week and then finish watching the Manhunt Unabomber on Netflix - 2 episodes left to go - only about an hour and a half so it won't be late. I'm trying to have a work life balance and Monday's are long days so I won't do hours of work in the evening.
On the exercise front, I've done 12000 steps today so feel justified in putting my feet up for an hour tonight, ;)
  • I'm with you on the struggling to stay in touch when life moves on a bit. I had a couple of really good friends at my last job. I left nearly a year ago and only found time to see them once in all that time. Isn't that terrible. I must try harder!
    debt consolidated 16/8/18 £9,788.01/£12,618.12 :( (Total debt at LBM 1st Jan '18 c..£19.5k)

  • I know what you mean Starmummy - life just gets in the way sometimes.

Tuesday and Wednesday were a bit of a trial really at work - some difficult meetings and uncomfortable conversations - I got through them though and it's my job to do these things I suppose. Doesn't make it easier though....
Saw OH last night and managed to forget things for a while - he stayed over too ( not usual during the week at my house) - think he thought I needed some moral support and a night long hug. He's had a really long day today too so it was much appreciated.

Today was better - meetings went well, lessons were good and I managed to leave at 3.30 - not got out before 5.30 for the rest of the week. Got home and walked the dog in pouring rain - wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, just good to be outside.

I'm having a night off work - watching TV and just chilling out for a while.
Some good news - Dad had his routine cancer appointment with the consultant today and nothing has changed so it's all stable for the time being, fingers crossed it stays that way, he seemed really relieved so I'm happy for him.

Looking forward to the weekend - have some work to do but am determined to have at least one day off.
Going to have a browse of Prime and Netflix and find a new series to watch - need a brainless program, can't be bothered with thinking tonight ;)
  • Happy weekend!! It's about time too!
Spent last night with OH - we've not seen much of each other this week so it was good to just be together. Woke up with a groggy head due to wine but have just got on with it this morning and feel better now.
I've taken the dog to the park (the first walk when it's not been raining for days), popped to the vet to collect his tablets and then did a big shop at sainsburys as its close to the vet. Bought lots of good food - am trying to eat healthier again this week. Last week was ok but I could have done better during the days for lunches - I don't really get much time to eat in work so eat what I can quickly and am starving by the time I get home, so I've bought some healthy salad pots to take with me this week in an attempt to not eat the first thing I see as soon as I get home ;)
Spent £80 but it was a stock up shop and should last a while.

Have cooked the dog some reduced sausages that he's currently scoffing for lunch - a real treat for him.

Just forced myself to go for a longish run - hard work as I haven't been for what feels like ages but it's done now and I feel better for going.

Need to hoover and dust and clean the wooden floors and put a load of washing on but I'm not doing any more housework today. It's my day off!
Will see OH later this afternoon - we might go to the cinema if there's anything worth watching on - have left him in charge of looking.
Have quite a bit of work to do tomorrow so I'm making the most of my day off. ;):):)
  • Hello MumblingTaff,
I'd been having a read of your thread on and off over the last couple of weeks, and thought now I have signed myself up properly I'd actually say hello. I'm surprised how many teachers there seem to be on here! It sounds like you've got a good balance between life and work going on and if it's ok, I shall subscribe to follow your progress. :)

  • Thank you Seaside Girl! It often feels like all work and no play so I'm making a concerted effort to have time off.

Had a nice evening with OH, stayed in and watched Red Sparrow (quite good) and he cooked a lovely dinner for us. Stayed over but got up at 8 and came home to walk the dog and feed him then went for another run. I weighed this morning and was not best pleased with the results :(
I feel all flabby and wobbly so I'm making more of an effort to get rid of it. It's not awful but more than it was so I need to nip it in the bud and get a grip before it gets out of hand.
I need to eat better and cut down on the wine and do a bit more exercise. I have no excuse with food as I've done a big shop so it's all about motivating myself to be more active after a long day at work and not just settle down on the sofa with a glass of wine....

Need to do a bit of maintenance today - I did my nails yesterday but need to sort my eyebrows, deep condition my hair and sort out the tan today. Will have a nice long soak later and polish myself up a bit. I might go for a good walk or another short run this afternoon if it stays dry. Get some more fresh air and daylight - good for the mind.....

But first, I have a good few hours of work to do - a big report for the head that he wants to present at a big meeting soon. I promised him a first draft for tomorrow so better get on with it. I also need to write a training session for staff for Tuesday - I've started it but it needs more work. I've already done most of my lesson planning for the coming week so that's one less thing to do today.

OH is playing golf today so I can please myself and not rush about - I'll tackle the work first and see how I get on.

Had a productive day - managed to get the first draft of the report for the head done, I'm sure he'll want me to tweak it but there's enough to show him tomorrow. Have also written the training course for Tuesday.
Managed to get an appointment with the eye brow lady at lunch time so am now sorted in that department. Also cut the front lawn and put the car through the car wash and done a load of washing.
Had a nice long bath listening to an audiobook and defuzzed, deep conditioned my hair, moisturised and painted my toe nails. Looking much more groomed now. :)
Had a root about in the make up drawer and found a couple of foundations and BB creams. Now the tan is fading I need to start wearing some sort of foundation again to work. Trialled them and found one that matches my current skin colour - saving me buying a new one for now. Also sorted through my everyday make up bag and lotions and potions and have dug out and cleaned the things I use and a few things I forgot I had.

Took the dog to the big park for a nice stroll in the fresh air for an hour and managed to get back to the car just before it chucked it down.
Then sorted out the fridge and froze some of the food I bought yesterday that I won't use in the next couple of days.

So, I'm all organised and feel a bit better about life ;)

Tonight will consist of cooking a proper tea, getting tomorrow's clothes ready and watching a bit of Netflix before the Bodyguard finale. Who dunnit??!!
  • Evening all. Had my first really good day at the new job today - it's starting to feel like I should be there :)
Taught 3 good lessons, met with three separate people and then spent an hour with the head going through my findings and report (which he called remarkable - in a good way!). Then had an SLT meeting until 5pm which went well too. Maybe I'm turning a corner? Don't want to speak too soon though......

Came home and took the dog to his favourite park for 45 mins - he loved it and it was nice to be in daylight and sunshine. Had the second half of the nice tea I made yesterday and had a quick tidy round.
Going to have a bath and get stuff ready for tomorrow and then watch some telly before an early night.
On the food and exercise front, I've eaten properly (lunch and tea), had 3 pieces of fruit and done 11500 steps so far today, a bette start to the week, let's hope it continues.....
