20/20 Vision (repaying a debt to my home and myself)

I’m feeling relatively settled today, so much so that I am thinking of having a NSD again. That will be 3 in a row and 4 out of planned for 15.
I made coleslaw today and cooked some wild and red rice. I cooked boneless chicken thighs seasoned with thyme, garlic and paprika. I also slow roasted Brussel sprouts and butternut squash. It’s nice to have colourful veggies to eat.
My clothes arrived today. I saw myself through the Postman’s eyes and went to wash my hair. I did the face pack I should have done yesterday and will save a few pounds by doing my own eyebrows.
I ordered 2 sizes of my coatigan, so one is going back. The coat looks and feels gorgeous, very happy with it. I bought a throw that is beautiful but not cosy and not really necessary so it is going back. They sent the wrong colour anyway so I phoned them and they are refunding me £4.95 and sending some free returns stickers. :money:
My walk today will be late this afternoon to return the parcel.
It is so dark and gloomy here today.
I moved some money in my accounts to cover the window cost. It goes in a week from today.
I will get back to frog eating tomorrow
Off to make a cup of tea, get a new hot water bottle refill and do some work.
I hope your week has begun well tooIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

You do so well with your cooking DIA, but it is bound to cause a lot of washing up. Can you invest in a dishwasher?
I know you don't have a proper kitchen at the moment but you could maybe get one in the sale and get it installed somewhere? We had one in our lean to once as there wasn't room in the kitchen. You can get slim line versions. Is there a cupboard unde the stairs where it could go?
It would free up so much of your time and the dirty dishes clearly bother you. Maybe you could save up for one as I know this month is a bit tight. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

How long have I been away??? I'm up to Page 49 of your diary DIA. You're doing so well, and I'm excited to read the rest to catch up to what's going on now for you.

It may be easier to move the fridge/freezer to make space for it as the plumbing will be easier in the kitchen.

Hello DIA,
I did manage to completely catch up last night and it's nice to see how you're progressing. You are very hard on yourself though, which is more noticeable when you read a bulk of time in one go.
Well done on getting over the quote hurdles. I'm ok with them too, but it's also a much bigger deal when they're actually in the house doing work. I need to suck it all up soon as there's so much to be done.
Congratulations on the sabbatical. I did that in 2017 and have struggled since coming back to work. People's opinion of me or my commitment to the role changed and no matter how hard I work, they've made that assumption and they are very much sticking to it. Luckily the worst culprit will be leaving in a few weeks.
Anyway, now I'm up to date it'll be easier to stay that way.0 -
Thanks MT, for reading over my diary.
I had not realised you took a sabbatical too.
I do think reputations are won or lost on perceptions not reality so I am not surprised to hear you struggled when returning to work. I noticed people treated me differently once they knew I was going to be away. A friend pointed out that there was resentment within the organisation and that might be right. I really had to fight to get it at all.
I agree about the work in the home being stressful. I am dreading next week when the window goes in as there will be a gang of them here all day, but as you say I will just have to suck it up.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. I got up straight away this morning. I woke with a headache, a meeting with the squirrel man at 8am and nothing in for breakfast after 3 NSDs.
I put washing on as today is going to be cold but dry and sunny (out drying now)
The squirrel man came and took away the boxes. He hasn’t caught any squirrels and they have gone anyway for now. I expected the bill for the visits over the last 4 months but he has not charged me at all. :j The squirrels will be back in a month or two so no doubt I will be calling on his services again. In reality until the fascias are replaced this will be ongoing. I asked the squirrel man if he knows anyone who could replace the fascias and he is going to give me a number for a roofer so I can get quotes. This is my next big job after the windows but it will cost.
I walked to the supermarket for eggs and spinach for breakfast. The walk did me good and got rid of the headache. I had a chat with a neighbour and learnt the tomatoes in his front garden are for his neighbours, he keeps products in the back for himself! Good to know.;)
FROG: The frog for today is to research a garage for my MOT (thanks Rosa I will read up on the site) FROG: reading Cumbria I realise I’ve not done air/water/checked oil ever, so need to find out how to do that too.
Off to do some basic shopping and post parcel I did not do yesterday. Then a few hours work.
Back later
Have a good day everyoneIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them
