Yesterday was lost to a vicious migraine. :( Stomach and head and vomiting. The worst kind. I am recovered today but tender, as if someone was stamping on my brain the day before.

I walked 3.5 miles as it was dry today. My first mile walk in 2 days due to bad weather and illness.

I bought some face cream 1/2 price in Wilko and a grater too.

I had tea out. I took my cup.

I took a book in my backpack to declutter and I am trying the library again. The new plan is to use the library on route to my walk that I should be doing anyway and only take out 1 book at a time. We shall see. I keep trying because we need libraries and it is better to use them and remain clutter free and ensure their future. Save the libraries speech over.

I removed a layer of curtain to let the light in and opened the patio doors to air the room. All my windows have been opened today. The room I live in most of the time has been tidied and hoovered and the dining table is clear. :)

I am eating chicken curry tonight with quinoa and a cabbage so fresh it snapped when I chopped the leaves.:)

I will clean the kitchen later but I will be taking it easy today and staying hydrated.

No office. No commute. No managers :rotfl: Still feeling demob happy. That said the serious work begins this week ;)

Wishing you a relaxing start to the week

  • I love our library. But I got awful at taking books back. Now I always print off the dates and it is blutacked to the wall next to my calender. Which has helped a bit. I have also started to budget £10 a month for books, so any fines can come out of that. I rarely buy actual books, tend to go for books on my kindle, but I do tend to go for long running series and I am a serial re reader.

Good idea to budget for books :)

    Driving
Filled my car with petrol. The petrol light had been flashing so I have created the stress of wondering if I will run out. Totally unnecessary. Today I filled up and from now on I’m setting a budget and filling up fortnightly.

I went back to where I received a fine. It was not clearly signed but I can see why I received the fine. I’ve come to terms with it now

    Shopping
I did a household items shop in Ald1. I spent £30 but have enough supplies to last a month. I like Ald1 and this time I noticed the staff are nicer than my local Mr S where they often overcharge. I must remember to stop using Mr S altogether.

    Drudge
Washing-up, drying and packing away X2
    Washing done and out ‘drying’
    Cleared out fridge
Hoovered living room (This room is completely clean and tidy as I have more time now. So nice to be in it :))

    Household irritants
Removed the wardrobe door handle that has been scratching my hand every time I brushed past it for years. I thought I needed a small spanner to get it off. I tried it with my fingers and now it is gone.

    Decluttered out of the house!
    A chair/old blinds/a dustbin/a pair of old shoes/An old curtain/tons of batteries

    Food
I bought some humous so I could use the carrots in my veg box. They are such good carrots. I treated myself to smoked salmon (1/3 reduced) the lady behind me in the queue had 2 legs of lamb so I gave her my £5 off £40 voucher as I won’t be buying any food now until after Christmas. She was very thankful.

A good day but I feel I haven’t eaten any frogs so tomorrow I will eat a few frogs first thing in the morning.

Wishing you all a relaxing evening :)

if you have not yet paid theparking fine, and you believe the signposting was unclear you have a number of options to appeal / reject the fine. The parking bunch on MSE are seriously determined that rogue parking companies don't exploit the public

but it can be a lot of paperwork and a lot of stress and maybe its a call sometimes just to pay and learn. I have got out of my last two as they were grossly unfair, I haven't had to get out of any becaise of poor signange - that's what the parking forum is for (the FAQ is at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822/newbies-private-parking-ticket-old-or-new-read-these-faqs-first-thankyou - I have just had another skim through - its not for the faint hearted
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

Thanks Mark 88 for the heads-up. I appreciate it. I do think the sign could have been better but I'm going to swallow this one and learn from it and move on. It's less stressful to just pay up and put it behind me I don't want to start a new year in dispute. It's an early (if painful) lesson. :o

I think that's entirely rational - you can protest too much. That said parking companies are dodgy - a lot of the poor signage is intentional or sloppy - not accidental - so I think the lesson is specific and general - specific to the car park you were in (and if local may be in again), and general, that parking is not a customer satisfaction business, and in many cases it is absolutely to gouge as much cash as possible, so never make assumptions when parking and always double check

rant over - not advice as much as a soapbox lecture sorry. Starting a new year with good fung shui is a big thing - which is why I just spent an evening battling with tax returns - for a grand cost of £340 but achieving 2 extra years of NI contributions for my OH by doing it properly which is a bargain!!
