NST April 2018: April Fool's Challenge

My new budgets started yesterday. We had just over £19 left from April so that went to savings. I also put a further £550 into savings, £198 into our holiday pot, £100 to the E/F and £100 into the car expenses pot.
DH got a bonus this month, it wasn't huge but it all helps. There may be some more money to be moved to savings but I need to speak to DH about whether we are doing any DIY this month first.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

NSD 17/18 for me.
I actually got paid at the beginning of the week but my 'pretend you don't get paid until the end of the month' trick is still working well. Last night I set my May budgets and moved all the money around that needs moving around, but the spending budgets won't start until Tuesday. Decided to have a mega-tight month on personal spends next month so I can round up my savings pot. No presents to buy, next haircut isn't til June. Change in my purse for hospital parking if needed. I've also made my contributions to the last of the baby things we needed (minus clothes which will be bought with loyalty points).
Grateful for: a proper eating-out-of-stores day and organising next month's budgets (even if I have only left myself tupenny-ha'penny to live on!)0 -
Slow day in work today. I have a new pc, so the IT techs were re-installing all my programs so I couldn't touch it.
Bestie met me at work and came round for a couple of hours and we walked the pup. There is a guy who lives in the area with two greyhounds, one of them is quite agressive and has bitten a few dogs before. Unfortunately we bumped into each other turning a corner and it went for Duncan. Caught him on the side but didn't break the skin (Duncan was fine after the initial shock). It really irritates me that he knows his dog is likely to attack others and he doesn't keep her on the lead!
We have passed with Duncan before and they have all been okay, so I wasn't worried when I first spotted them.
In work tomorrow so just going to chill for the rest of the evening.

Evening everyone,
Took little one to bookbug and the park today.
Got his passport photos taken at the post office (£5) and picked up a few groceries from the supermarket (£2.09) bringing my monthly spends to £328.17/£350.
Cashed out £1.41 from Qmee bringing my extra income to £82.19/£93.
Sent the £1.41 to the holiday savings.
Today I am grateful for the patient staff member in the post office and not having to switch my heating on until this evening.VSPC 2019 #10 - £168.80/£100 VSPC 2020 #4 - £262.03/£200 VSPC 2021 #9 - £242.88/£200 VSPC 2022 #3 - £188.03/£200 VSPC 2023 #7 - £0/£2000 -

Quick catch up from me (turned the laptop off earlier and was so engrossed in my book and my puzzle that I didn't realise how late it was.
Yesterday I had a 9am appointment with the counsellor. Knew it would be a challenge (he said it was only moving it forward an hour, but I pointed out we had already moved it forward an hour the previous week and if it moved to 4am I wasn't going to be there - when I did a patchwork of jobs I had frequent 5am starts but one job had a once a week 4am start and that was a killer).
Went to little Arseda to pick up a sandwich (sorry, something had to go and not much food in) but more importantly, 2l of water. Phoned for a taxi but no reply (I know they are busy then) so 'walked' to appointment (as fast as I could but struggling for breath at times). Counsllor asked how long it took - I said about 20 minutes but probably 25 yesterday, added that I had done it in under 10 the first time I was pregnant, then corrected myself as I am not comparing myself to my former self.
Session went well, I estimated a 50- 70% success rate on the previous weeks targets, have homework for this week and making sleep pattern and eating my priorities (consistently marked high for being tired, trouble sleeping/ sleeping too long and over/under eating). Need to recap on last few weeks to continue improvements (consistency apple consistency).
Found somewhere to sit, read my book and finish my sandwich (breakfast). Bought an all day anybus ticket, went past my stop as far as the bus station, quick shop/ meander round town. Noted a couple of things mum might want (bought her a couple of jigsaw puzzles that might be suitable - she had them on her Christmas list but I'm not sure she will be able to do them). Bags got quite heavy so went home.
Did some bits (wash load in, returned all but one library books and got new ones, browsed through the DVDs - they were selling a lot off, may go back as things like Spooks I could watch several times) and ate again.
Had shoulder injection appointment at 4.30pm, meant to change clothes (lots in the washing queue - Beloved waits until she is nearly out of clothes and then has to do 6 or 7 lots) but got in a panic over whether the little bus was 5 to or 5 past the hour so just grabbed stuff (it was 5 past so pulled leggings on at the bus stop and left dress on - had grabbed a tunic).
Injection fine and asked a query for mum (think she has given up on going to the doctor's at all), given me another little job to do. Caught little bus all the way to the turn round and did a Morries shop, taxi back home. Mostly for next month but bought lots of salad stuff. I was hungry and did not really want to go but I am trying to do more - even one bit extra a day will help me get back on track (supermarket trip will save lots of time another day and I do like to get full value if I buy a day ticket).
Wiped out by the time I got home so just put the freezer stuff away, then rested and ate (succumbed to the 'salad box' option but boy do I pack that box full - 8 tiny tomatoes, 3 1/2 eggs with a bit of mayo, masses of red onion, peppers, beetroot salad, 4 small potatoes, bean salad, patted everything down as I added it then rice salad to finish just to fill every last tiny space). Later I went downstairs, unpacked two bags of fridge items, filled the dishrack and drainer with washed pots and did the recycling - brought the bins back.
Today I woke at 7.30 but was dozy. Needed to be at mum's early as the hairdresser was going to trim my hair and mum wanted shopping from a particular shop to use a voucher. Was worried about the weight so did not take anything to eat or drink (had plain water at mum's) or read or any of the other bits of shopping I have picked up for her. Shoulder was throbbing (takes a day or two for the injection to take), went as far as the shop but people were queueing and I did not think I could carry the stuff - struggled with it last time. Gave up and went for a taxi.
Hairdresser was already there, so washed mine ready. Told mum we could do the shop after film club if she wanted (can put a bag on the walker). Both had soup for lunch then phoned for a taxi. Chucking it down so mum asked the driver to go onto the car park so we would be near the ramp.
He said no as Prince Andrew was visiting, police escort was on the car park and my street was blocked off. Luckily he was leaving just as we got there (had been told he was holding up film club) so we saw him briefly and said hello to the Mayor as we went acrosss to the ramp. Posh canapes left over - weren't great. Film good although have seen it before. Took mum to taxi office (she did not really need any food - just wanted to use the voucher).
Got food from the fridge, read the reviews for the evening film and decided it sounded interesting but a bit heavy (brutally violent at times) so settled for a bit of Morse, puzzles and my book. The alarm is set as I have to be on the coach at 10 to 9 tomorrow to go to Whitby and the Goth Festival (music is in the evening but there is an 'alternative' market as well as all the usual attractions).
Today I am grateful for missing the worst of the weather, good entertainment, a haircut (mum paid), for staying on my feet for the last few days, for pushing myself to do more and for putting a dent in the washing up mountain.
